  • This study examines whether engine fuel efficiency is improved by optimization of the exhaust valve timing in a state where the intake valve timing has been optimized in a small turbo gasoline engine that has intake cams and exhaust cams with fixed valve opening periods. When the exhaust valve is opened late, the expansion stroke is longer, and the efficiency can be improved. A 2-cylinder turbo gasoline engine with 0.8 liters of displacement and an MPI (Multi Point Injection) fuel system was used. The engine was operated at 1,500 and 3,000 rpm, and the load conditions included a partial load of 50 N·m and a high load of 70 N·m. Data was recorded as the exhaust valve timing was controlled, and this was used to calculate the efficiency of combustion using a heat release, the fuel conversion efficiency, and the pumping loss. Results and the hydrocarbon concentrations in the exhaust gas were compared for each condition. Experiment results confirmed that additional fuel efficiency improvements are possible through exhaust valve timing control at 1,500 rpm and 50 N·m. However, in other operating conditions, fuel efficiency improvements could not be obtained through exhaust valve timing control because cases where the pumping loss and fuel/air mixture slip increased when the exhaust valve timing changed and the fuel efficiency declined.

  • In the last year, the number of registered vehicles in Korea surpassed the 12 million mark, and increase in number continuously Nowdays, this tendency has raised some problems inevitably in the view of expansion of ELV(end of life vehicle) and earth environment pollution resulted from it. For the proper scope with this environment pollution, recycling of parts and materials, minimization of wastes are desirable. And application of disassembly technology is required for it necessarily. Therefore it is essential to study systematically about disassembly technology of ELV with high efficiency for improvement recycling ratio and diminution shredder dust amount also in Korea.

  • The expanding method of tube to tubesheet joint part on neclear steam generators are classified into three classes of roller expanding, explosive expanding and hydraulic expanding. After the expanded Mock-Up specimen are made by the three expanding method. The general properties, microstructure/microvickers hardness, pull-out strength, hydraulic leak pressure, of tube to tubesheet joint part were inspected. and We evaluated the operation efficiency of expansion, reproduction of expanded joint about three expanding method. Through the overall evaluation of tube to tubesheet joint part, The hydraukic expanding and explosive expanding could be certificated more useful expanding method.

  • Power plant efficiency and availability depend greatly on condenser performance. However, during commissioning of Yeonggwang #1/2 steam condenser sodium leakage occurred, because of tube to tubesheet only roll expanding. Therefore this report is explaining that pre-test for the shake of improvement reliable repair processes & selected sampling tube re-expansion in-situ applications.

  • A short-ended electromagnetically coupled coaxial dipole array antenna is investigated theoretically. The antenna has an advantage of structural simplicity. The integral equations are derived for the proposed structure by use of the Fourier transform and mode expansion, and the simultaneous linear equations are obtained. The slot electric field and strip current are obtained by solving the simultaneous linear equations. The effects of slot and strip numbers on the radiation efficiency, beamwidth and directivity gain of the antenna are presented.

  • Modernization of a port requires a considerable port facility expansion through grading up the cargo handling efficiency, increasing water depth of channels and basins to accomodate Large ships, etc. In many ports in the world, the needs of bigger ship calls in excess of conventional capacity of channels and basins demand for capital dredging as well as maintenance dredging resulting from siltation, and those activities are incurring heavy annual expenditure of the ports. • The ventilation frequency of 0.5 times in residential facilities is applied mandatorily to the housing facilities containing more than 100 house units to improve the indoor air quality and create comfortable interior conditions and pleasantness for residents. The Building Energy Efficiency Rating system requires the implementation of leakage test based on ventilation frequency with the test results being reflected in the efficiency ratings, thereby stimulating the precise construction of the fittings in the periphery of windows and savings of energy that can be lost due to the infiltration air. The inspection results of the Building Energy Efficiency Rating at the site showed that the ventilation frequency was in the range between 0.63 and 0.71 and that the difference was found to have a significant effect on the amount of energy reduction. It is urgent to conduct the study on highly leakage-proof buildings and construction methods, along with the expansion of mandatory leakage-proof diagnosis of non-residential buildings, considering the mandatory ventilation frequency below 0.6 for passive houses under the European standards and the target set by Korea to introduce the passive house, the rigorous standard for energy efficiency in buildings and mitigating their ecological footprint, by 2017 and achieve the zero house by 2025.
