Topology Design of a Structure with a Specified Eigenfrequency (주어진 고유주파수를 갖는 구조물의 위상최적설계)

  • Topology optimization is applied to determine the layout of a structural component with a specified frequency by minimizing the difference between the specified structural frequency and a given frequency. The homogenization design method is employed and the topology design problem is solved by the optimality criteria method. The value of a weighting factor in the optimality criteria plays an important role in this topology design problem. The modified optimality criteria method approximated by using the binomial expansion is suggested to determine the suitable value of the weighting factor, which makes convergence stable. If a given frequency is set as an excited frequency, it is possible to avoid resonance by moving away the specified structural frequency from the given frequency. The results of several test problems are compared with previous works and show the validity of the proposed algorithm.

  • Recently, due to the expansion of electric power demands, nonlinear load such as converters and inverters connected to the electric power distribution system, and extensive application of harmonic generation sources with power electric devices, disturbance of the electric power system and its influences on industries have been continuously increasing. In this research, power quality was analyzed for 11 extra-high voltage customers by considering voltage unbalance condition, power factor, THD and TDD. This research will be utilized as fundamental data to improve power quality for power utility.

  • Being based on the Segal method, calculation was carried out for the natural uranium nuclear fuel cost with Zircaloy-4 cladding having design Parameters of Wolsung Nuclear Power Plant, CANDU-PHWR (Unit 1) , currently under construction in Korea aiming at its completion in 1982. An attempt was also made for tile sensitivity analysis of each fuel component; j. e., depreciation of fuel manufacturing plant caused by its life time, its load factor, production scale expansion of plant facilities, variations of construction and operating costs of fuel manufacturing plant, fluctuation of interest rates, extent of uranium ore price increases and effect of learning factor.

Factors Influencing the Sense of Community for Build Rural Community (농촌 마을만들기 참여주민의 공동체 의식 영향요인)

  • This study aims to examine the sense of community for build rural community. Data were collected from 205 local residents residing in Yeoncheon-gun where the community building project and education were undertaken to analyze the data. Data was analyzed by using analysis of hierarchical regression analysis. Results summarized as follows. First, the most influencing factor on sense of community of the resident' participation in rural community building was continuous participation. Second, the influencing factors of sociodemographic were occupation, income level, and age on entire and sub factors of sense of community partially. Third, participation expansion, the sub factor of community participation influenced on sense of belonging, the feeling of solidarity, and conscious of mutual influence. As a result of taking a look at the effect of resident participation in overall sense of community, continuous participation was shown to influence in entire sense of community.

Effect of Orthogonal Spreading on the Performance of Multipath Faded Multi-Code CDMA Systems

  • This paper is concerned with the reverse link performance of multi-code CDMA systems in multipath fading environments. The degree of orthogonality loss among multiple spreading code channels is characterized as the orthogonality factor. It depends on various system parameters including multipath power profiles of propagation channels and the number of Paths resolved at a Rake receiver. The effect of the parameters on the system performance is then investigated in terms of bit error rate and required signal quality. The results show that multipath delay power profiles dominantly affect mutual interference among multi-code channels and multipath combining gain by bandwidth expansion is not so great due to the increase of the mutual interference. Moreover, the orthogonality factor is derived as the value of between (1/m) and 1.

  • The stress intensity factor for an interface crack in dissimilar materials has been obtained by many researchers. But research of the energy release rate for an interface crack in pseudo-isotropic dissimilar materials is insufficient yet. In this paper, the energy release rate for cracks in pseudo-isotropic dissimilar materials was obtained using eigenfunction expansion method and also analyzed numerically using the reciprocal work contour integral method. The results were verified by comparing with other worker's results.

  • The present contribution describes the application of elliptic-blending second moment closure to predict the gas cooling process of turbulent super-critical carbon dioxide flow in a square cross-sectioned duct. The gas cooling process under super-critical state experiences a drastic change in thermodynamic and transport properties. Redistributive terms in the Reynolds stress and turbulent heat flux equations are modeled by an elliptic-blending second moment closure in order to represent strongly non-homogeneous effects produced by the presence of walls. The main feature of Durbin's elliptic relaxation second moment closure that accounts for the nonlocal character of pressure-velocity gradient correlation and the near-wall inhomogeneity guaranteed by the elliptic blending second moment closure.

Rotordynamic Analysis of Compressor Labyrinth Seals (압축기용 라비린스 실의 동특성 해석)

  • An analysis of lateral hydrodynamic forces of compressor labyrinth seals is presented. Basic equations are derived using a two-control-volume model for compressible flow. Blasius' wall friction-factor formula and jet flow theory are used for the calculaton of wall shear stresses and recirculation velocity in the cavity. Linearized zeroth-order and first-order perturbation equations are developed for a small motion about the centered position by expansion in the eccentricity ratio. Integraton of the resultant first-order pressure distribution over the seal defines the rotordynamic coefficients. As an application a rotordynamic analysis of the balance drum labyrinth seal found in an ethylene regrigeration copmressor is carried out. The rotordynamic characteristic results of the labyrinth seal are presented and compared with other types of seals, honeycomb seal and smooth seal.

  • 본 연구에서는 임의시간 환산계수(Conversion Factor, CF)와 관련하여 거의 유일한 이론적 연구인 Weiss 모형을 자세히 검토하고, 그 문제점을 보완한 수정 Weiss 모형을 제안하였다. 특히, 임의시간 환산계수를 이론적인 방법을 통해 산정하는 과정에서 강우 지속기간과 강우 시간분포의 특성을 반영하지 못하는 한계를 극복하는 시도의 하나로서 강우의 시간분포 특성을 고려하여 CF를 결정하였다. 이를 실제 관측 자료에 근거한 국내 외 CF값들과 비교해본 결과, 수정 Weiss 모형을 근거로 산정한 CF값은 강우 시간분포의 특성에 영향을 받으며 그 형태에 따라 다양한 값이 나타남을 확인할 수 있었다.

  • Bellows is a familiar component in piping systems as it provides a relatively simple means of absorbing thermal expansion and providing system flexibility. In routine piping flexibility analysis by finite element methods, bellows is usually considered to be straight pipe runs modified by an appropriate flexibility factor; maximum stresses are evaluated using a corresponding stress concentration factor. In this paper, the dynamic characteristics of bellows were investigated by Finite element methods. Using Anany program, the natural frequencies and evaluation of the reliability of bellows were also investigated.
