Evaluation of Role Flangeability of Steel Sheet with respect to the Role Processing Condition (가공조건에 따른 강판의 구멍확장성 평가)

  • In this paper, hole expanding tests are carried out in order to identify the effect of the hole process condition on the hole expanding ratio. Specimens with two different hole conditions are prepared: one is produced with punching process; and the other is reamed after punching to get smoother hole surface. The experimental results show that the facture mechanism and the hole expanding ratio are quite different with respect to the hole condition. The hole expanding ratio of a punched specimen is much smaller than that of a reamed one due to the difference of surface roughness and internal defects. For the thorough investigation of those effects, tensile tests of a specimen with a hole are performed. The fracture strain is obtained with different hole conditions and a finite element analysis of the hole flanging process carried out. The experimental results are confirmed and reevaluated by finite element analysis of the hole flanging process with ductile fracture criterion proposed.

  • A light-weight aggregate with a surface layer was fabricated using glass abrasive sludge and expanding agents. The glass abrasive sludges were mixed with expanding agents ($Fe_2O_3,\;graphite,\;CaCO_3$) and formed into precursors. These precursors were sintered in the range of $700-900^{\circ}C$ for 20min. The sintered light-weight aggregate had a surface layer with smaller pores and an inner region with larger pores. The surface layer and pores controlled the water absorption ratio and physical properties. As the expanding agent fraction and the sintering temperature increased, the porosity and pore size increased. The light-weight aggregate with $Fe_2O_3$ and graphite as the expanding agents had a low water absorption ratio while the porous material with $CaCO_3$ as the expanding agent had a higher water absorption ratio and more open pores.

  • A porous material with a surface layer was fabricated from glass abrasive sludge and expanding agents. The glass abrasive sludges were mixed with expanding agents and compacted into precursors. These precursors were sintered in the range of $700-900^{\circ}C$ for 20 min. The sintered porous materials had a surface layer with smaller pores and inner parts with larger pores. The surface layer and closed pores controlled water absorption. As the expanding agent fraction and the sintering temperature increased, the porosity and pore size increased. The porous materials with $Fe_2O_3$ and graphite as the expanding agents had a low absorption ratio of about 3% or lower while the porous material with $CaCO_3$ as the expanding agent had a higher absorption ratio and more open pores.

  • Most residential buildings in Korea are preferred to have maximum interior spaces, rather than consider its original design, overall building performance, and any other aspects since early 1990's. Especially in high-rise apartment buildings, balcony has been merged to living room to get more interior spaces and this renovation trends have been producing deep and narrow shapes of living rooms that was not initially intended by architects. On the other hand, the same gross area of each unit does not necessarily mean same width and depth ratio of each residential unit. Generally, we can categorize it to the deep or wide unit based on its width and depth ratio. Under these circumstances, this study analyzes the room usage pattern changes based on the space width and depth ratio and the effect of expansion of room space to the balcony. This study also includes about 180 apartments plan case studies to find out the relationships among w/d ratio changes, furniture arrangement types, and room configurations. In this research, general apartment room w/d ratios are 0.97 ∼ 1.23; 0.7(south facing sitting room), 1.23(south facing bed room), and 0.95(north facing bedroom). But, after expanding room space to balcony w/d ratio increased as follows; sitting room become 1.31, general south facing bedroom become 1.23, and north facing bedroom become 1.45. In addition to user preference of w/d ratio, many people prefer rectangular room shape a little(w/d ratio is 0.9 or 1.2) than square style (w/d ratio is 1.0) or very deep room style (w/d ratio Is more over 1.5). Accordingly, expanding the room space to balcony may make unsatisfactory room w/d ratio. Expanding room space to balcony should be considered by existing room w/d ratio.

  • This paper presents algorithm to plan construction and expanding of substation considering contingency accidents by proposing utilization factor according to configuration of bank system. In this paper, at first, proper sphere of supply area in each district which could be standardized with respect to its supply capacity is established under assumption which was made long term load forecasting in district respectively. Secondly, goal of utilization ratio according to configuration of substation bank was set to keep reliability by remaining sound bank when it happen to one bank accidents Finally, optimal construction and expanding of substation considering economy and reliability simultaneously about substation to exceed these ratio could be anticipated.

Experimental study on fire performance of axially-restrained NSC and HSC columns

  • This paper describes fire performance of eight axially restrained reinforced concrete (RC) columns under a combination of two different load ratios and two different axial restraint ratios. The eight RC columns were all concentrically loaded and subjected to ISO834 standard fire on all sides. Axial restraints were imposed at the top of the columns to simulate the restraining effect of the rest of the whole frame. The axial restraint was effective when the column was expanding as well as contracting. As the results of the experiments have shown, the stiffness of the axial restraint and load level play an important role in the fire behaviors of both HSC and NSC columns. It is found that (a) the maximum deformations during expanding phase were influenced mostly by load ratio and hardly by axial restraint ratio, (b) For a given load ratio, axial restraint ratio had a great impact on the development of axial deformation during contraction phase beyond the initial equilibrium state, (c) increasing the axial restraint increased the value of restraint force generated in both the NSC and HSC columns, and (d) the development of column axial force during the contracting and cooling phase followed nearly parallel trend for columns under the same load ratio.

Secondly, goal of utilization ratio based on configuration of substation bank was set to keep reliability by remaining sound bank when it happen to one bank accidents. Finally, it is set up for optimal construction and expanding of substation considering economy and reliability simultaneously about substation to exceed these ratio. To verify proposed algorithm, at first, after adopting a part of Kangnam area in Seoul as area for testing, it is divided into several regions for this area according to power branches of power utility. Secondly, by deriving correlation factor between load demand and economic indicators in these region respectively, the regional load forecasting was performed with economic growth and city plan scenario. Finally, based on the predicted load demand by region and land use data which is identified from air-photographic, the load demand by district was predicted. Also, planning for substation considering contingency is formulated to expand taking into account computing utilization factor which is based on configuration of substation bank respectively.

Development of the Program Used in Calculating and Estimating Anamorphic Prisms (Anamorphic 프리즘을 위한 계산 평가 프로그램 개발)

  • Purpose: To develop the program used in calculating and estimating anamorphic prisms used to construct an anamorphoser. Methods: If there is a program which can show the apex angle and the volume of prism which are decided by the refraction index of anamorphic prisms and the expanding ratio of incident beam, the production of anamorphic prisms can be done accurately. Moreover, it could become a convenient tool to the design and production of whole optical systems using anamorphic prisms. Developing this program, first, we had to induce formulas of prism that decide the apex angle and the arrangement angle of anamorphic prisms with the given refraction index of anamorphic prism and the given expanding ratio of incident beam. Then we programmed them by delphi 6.0 language so that they could be visualized on screen and easily confirmed. Results: We could develop the program used in calculating and estimating anamorphic prisms used to construct an anamorphoser. Conclusions: Judging from the results of applying this developed program to actual business, we could conclude that this program is useful in calculation and production of anamorphic prisms which are used as components of an anamorphoser because this program can offer a lot of accuracy and quickness to producers.
