Non-Stationary transition probabilities models which is incorporated into a Markov framework with exogenous variables to account for some of variability are discussed, and extended for alternative procedure. Also as an application of the methodology, the size change of aggregate time-series data on the planted system of agricultural crops is estimated, and evaluated for the precision of time-varying evolution statistically.
The study examined the characteristics of the relationship of home environment variables and children's social development. Two studies were conducted ; Study I examined (1) the correlation of home environment variables and children's social ability and (2) the predictability of home environment variables for children's social ability by children's age. Study II investigated the causal relationship among the variables which are supposed to affect children's social ability. The subjects of this study were 240 children at age four, six and eight attending nursery schools, kindergartens and elementary schools and their mothers. Instruments included the Inventory of Home Stimulation (HOME), the Inventory of Sociodemographic Variables, social maturation scale, and the social-emotional developmental rating scale. The results obtained from this study were as follows : 1) Home environment variables had a positive correlation with children's social development at age four and six, but at age eight, only HOME variables had a significant positive correlation with children's social development. 2) The home environmental variables that significantly predicted children's social development differed according to children's age. That is, play materials, economic status of the home, and parent education were predictive of children's social development at age four, while parent's education, fostering maturity and independence, and play materials were predictive at age six. Fostering maturity and independence, aspects of physical environment, and economic status of the home were predictive at age eight. 3) The causal model of home environment effect on children's social development was formulated by exogenous variables (parent education and economic status of the home) and endogenous variables (direct stimulation, indirect stimulation and the emotional climate of the home). 4) The results of the analysis of the causal model showed that the variables that have a direct effect on children's social development differed according to children's age. That is, direct stimulation had more effect on children's social development at earlier ages, and indirect stimulation had more effect on children's social development at later ages. Among socio-demographic variables, parent's education was most closely related to children's social development. The amount of variance that explained children's social development decreased with increase in children's age.
This study examined the characteristics of the relationship of home environment variables and children's intellectual ability. Two studies were conducted: Study I examined the predictability of home environment variables for children's intellectual ability by children's age and the correlations between environment variables and children's intellectual ability. Study II investigated causal relationships among the variables which are supposed to affect children's intellectual ability. The subjects of this study were 240 children at age four, six and eight attending nursery schools, kindergartens and elementary schools and their mothers. Instruments included the Inventory of Home Stimulation (HOME), inventory of sociodemographic variables, and the K-Binet scale. The results obtained from this study were as follows: 1) Home environment variables had a significant positive correlation (.36 ~ .78) with children's intellectual ability. 2) The home environmental variables that significantly predicted children's intellectual ability differed according to children's age. That is, play materials, breadth of experience, and quality of language environment were predictive of children's intellectual ability at age four, while parent's education, developmental stimulation, and play materials were predictive at age six. Economic status of the home, need gratification, avoidance of restriction, and emotional climate were predictive at age eight. 3) The causal model of home environment affecting children's intellectual ability was formulated by exogenous variables (parent education and economic status of the home) and by endogenous variables (direct stimulation, indirect stimulation and the emotional climate of the home). 4) The results of the analysis of the causal model showed that the kind of variables that affected children's intellectual ability directly differed according to children's age. That is, direct stimulation and parent's education affected children's intellectual ability directly at age four and six, while the economic status of the home and indirect stimulation affected intellectual ability directly at age eight. The amount of variance that explained children's intellectual ability increased with increase in children's age.
The objectives of this study were to classify daily clothing selection motives and to group men into life style types and to examine the differences in daily clothing selection motives according to the life style types. Questionnaire comprised of three sections: 36 Likert type items of life style measure; 29 Likert type items of daily clothing selection motives measure: and 4 demographic variables. Samples were 267 salary men in gheir 20's to 30's in Seoul Korea. The data were analyzed using factor analy-sis cluster analysis one-way ANOVA Dun-can's multiple range test and t-test. 1. Five factors of life style were derived by factor analysis ; F. 1 'appearance oriented' f. 2. 'positive activity' F. 3 'economy oriented': F.4 'active-leisure';F. 5 'contemporary' Four types of life style of men were defined by cluster analysis of the five factors: T. 1'posi-tive activity'; T. 2.'economy interest'; T. 3'contemporary' : T 2'economy interest' T.3'contemporary' ; T. 4 'appearance interest' 2. Four factors of daily clothing selection motives were derived by factor analysis: F.1 'clothing harmony'; F.2 'clothing utility'; F.3 'psychological influence'; F.4 'exogenous situ-ation adaptation 3. There were significant differences in daily clothing selection motives according to the life style types. The types of positive activity economy interest and contemporary had 'clothing utility' motive more than appearance interest type. Economy interest type had 'hpsychological influence' motive more than other three types. Economy interest type and appearance interest type had 'exogenous situ-ation adaptation' motive more than other two types 4. 20's and unmarried men had'psychological influence' motive more than 30's and married. Upper class had 'clothing harmony' and 'ex-ogeneous situation adaptation' motives more than middle and low. Men with less education had ' clothing utility' and 'exogenous situation adaptation' motives more than did more edu-cation.
This study is about comparing coal thermal plant to LNG combined power plant in respect of environmental and economic cost analysis. In addition sensitive analysis of power cost and discount rate is conducted to compare the result of change in endogenous and exogenous variable. For environmental assessment, when they generate 10,669GWh yearly, coal thermal power plant emits sulfur oxides 959ton, nitrogen oxide 690ton, particulate matter 168ton and LNG combined power plant emits only nitrogen oxide 886ton respectively every year. Regarding economic cost analysis on both power plants during persisting period 30 years, coal thermal power plant is more cost effective 4,751 billion won than LNG combined taking in account the initial, operational, energy and environmental cost at 10,669GWh yearly in spite of only LNG combined power plant's energy cost higher than coal thermal. In case of sensitive analysis of power cost and discount rate, as 1% rise or drop in power cost, the total cost of coal thermal power plant increases or decreases 81 billion won and LNG combined 157 billion won up or down respectively. When discount rate 1% higher, the cost of coal thermal and LNG combined power plant decrease 498 billion won and 539 billion won for each. When discount rate 1% lower, the cost of both power plant increase 539 billion won and 837 billion won. With comparing each result of change in power cost and discount rate, as discount rate is weigher than power cost, which means most influential variable of power plan is discount rate one of exogenous variables not endogenous.
As generalization of using PC and the Internet information technology (IT) users in organizations are not passive clients but active producers of information services. One of the reasons for the change of users' role is social interactions with other users and IT department staffs. That is, users can find and develop new functions and usefulness of IT, especially, Web-based ones through communication with other users or IT department staffs. The objective of this study is to investigate the relationship between IT department service quality and social interactions with other users. For this purpose, we suggest a research model based on adaptive structuration theory (AST), which is to explain the changes in social structure (rules and resources) of IT by social interactions, as well as service quality theory. Our model's exogenous variable is service quality which is a second-order factor consisting of reliability, responsiveness, assurance, and empathy. As endogenous variables, we adopt two variables for appropriateness of using IT, faithfulness of appropriation and consensus on appropriation. Finally, dependent variables of ow model are usefulness and ease of use which can be considered as attitude on IT as well as other variables for appropriateness. For empirical test our model is applied to users of groupware and ERP in organizations and analyzed by partial least square. In result, all hypotheses suggested in our model are supported statistically.
Purpose: This study was done to explore factors relating to number of falls among community-dwelling elders, based on gender. Methods: Participants were 403 older community dwellers (male=206, female=197) aged 60 or above. In this study, 8 variables were identified as predictive factors that can result in an elderly person falling and as such, supports previous studies. The 8 variables were categorized as, exogenous variables; perceived health status, somatization, depression, physical performance, and cognitive state, and endogenous variables; fear of falling, ADL & IADL and frequency of falls. Results: For men, ability to perform ADL & IADL (${\beta}_{32}$=1.84, p<.001) accounted for 16% of the variance in the number of falls. For women, fear of falling (${\beta}_{31}$=0.14, p<.05) and ability to perform ADL & IADL (${\beta}_{32}$=1.01, p<.001) significantly contributed to the number of falls, accounting for 15% of the variance in the number of falls. Conclusion: The findings from this study confirm the gender-based fall prediction model as comprehensive in relation to community-dwelling elders. The fall prediction model can effectively contribute to future studies in developing fall prediction and intervention programs.
Purpose: This study was designed to construct a model which explains drug misuse behaviors in community-dwelling older adults. Methods: The design of this research is a cross-sectional study using structure equation modeling. The hypothetical model consisted of two types of variables: the exogenous variables of health status, cognitive ability, and negative emotion, and the endogenous variables of number of drugs, and drug misuse behaviors. The data collection was conducted from September 2 to September 21, 2013 through self-report questionnaires. Participants were 320 community-dwelling adults over the age of 65 living in J city. Data were analyzed with SPSS 21.0 program and Amos 18.0 program. Results: The results of the model fitness analysis were satisfied. The predictor variables for the hypothetical model explained 62.3% of variance regarding drug misuse behaviors. Drug misuse behaviors were directly affected by health status, cognitive ability, negative emotion and number of drugs and indirectly affected by health status, and negative emotion through number of drugs. Conclusion: These findings indicate factors that should be used in developing effective nursing interventions for safe and proper drug use and the prevention of drug misuse behaviors in community-dwelling older adults.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to develop and test a model to explain the transition state for Korean middle-aged women focusing on the transition concept. Method: A hypothetical model was constructed based on the transition model of Schumacher & Meleis(1994) and tested. Thehypothetical model consisted of 5 latent variables and 11 observed variables. Exogenous variables were demographic characteristics, obstetric characteristics, and health behavior. Endogenous variables were transition state and quality of life with 6 paths. The data from 221 middle-aged women selected by convenience was analyzed using covariance structure analysis. Result: The final model which was modified from the hypotheticalmodel improved to GFI=0.97, AGFI=0.94, NFI=0.94, and NNFI=0.95. The transition state was influenced directly by demographic characteristics, quality of life, and also indirectly by health behaviors. However, the influence of obstetric characteristics was not significant. The transition state was accountable for 68% of the variance by these factors. Conclusion: These results suggest that enhancing health behaviors of the women are necessary to increase quality of life and it consequently contributes toimproving the transition state. This model could be used to explain the health related vulnerability in these ages and to diagnosis individual women.
Purpose: This study was designed to construct a structural model for explaining model health-related quality of life in acquired people with physical disabilities. Method: The hypothetical model of this study was consisted of 6 latent variables and 14 observed variables. Exogenous variables included in this model were physical status and economical level. Endogenous variables were social attitudes, family function, self-esteem, and health-related quality of life. Data were collected from 226 acquired people with physical disabilities residing in Seoul and Kyunggi-do from January to February, 2005. The collected data were analyzed using SAS 8.2 version and LISREL 8.32 version program. Results: The results of the fitness test of the modified model were follow as; ${\chi}^2=67.479$ (df=50, p=.05), GFI=.959, AGFI=.914, SRMR=.049, NFI=.961, NNFI=.979, CN=249.244. Health-related quality of life was influenced directly by physical status, economic level, and social attitudes and accounted for 88.8% of the variance by these factors. Conclusion: These results suggest that physical status is the most significant effect on health-related quality of life, and social attitudes and economic level are important factors having influences on health- related quality of life. Therefore improving physical status and economic level, and modifying negative attitudes are necessary to increase health-related quality of life of acquired people with acquired physical disabilities.
