  • A optimal reinforcement in the joint rock slope excavation adjacent to an existing tunnel would be influenced by excavation distance from the tunnel, slope angel, and joint conditions but has been empirically determined so far. In this study, large scale model tests were conducted to find out the relationship between load translation on the excavation surface and bebavior of the tunnel according to excavation steps of the jointed rock slope. Consequently, two main parameters, joint dip and sloped angle were investigated in those model tests. From the test results, it was found that tunnel deformation was the largest one when the excavation of joints located closer to the tunnel crown or invert. Stability of the slope and the tunnel were varied in a certain excavation stage related to the angle of slope. In the future, based on results of this study the reinforcement method for the tunnel and slope safety in a jointed rock mass will be demonstrated.

  • Video Incident Detection System is a detection system for the purpose of detection of an emergency in an unexpected situation such as a pedestrian in a tunnel, a falling object, a stationary vehicle, a reverse run, and a fire(smoke and flame). In recent years, the importance of the city center has been emphasized by the construction of underpasses in great depth underground space. Therefore, in order to apply Video Incident Detection System to a Double Deck Tunnel, it was developed to reflect the design characteristics of the Double Deck Tunnel. and In this paper especially, the fire detection technology, which is not it is difficult to apply to the Double Deck Tunnel environment because it is not supported on existing Video Incident Detection System or has a fail detect, we propose fire detection using color image analysis, silhouette spread, and statistical properties, It is verified through a real fire test in a double deck tunnel test bed environment.

  • As the number of existing road tunnels increases every year, collapse and floor heaving accidents occur frequently during construction. The collapse among tunnel accidents dominates, so that studies related to the floor heaving are relatively insufficient. Accordingly, many studies to reinforce the lower part of the tunnel have been conducted, but the analysis on the effect of the curvature of the tunnel floor is insufficient. Therefore, in this study, the effects of the upper analysis area height and the coefficient of lateral earth pressure of the tunnel located on a tuff deterioration zone with a large rock cover, as well as the floor curvature, were examined through sensitivity analysis. As a result of the analysis, it turned out that the overall stability of the tunnel increases as the floor curvature increases, the coefficient of lateral earth pressure decreases, and the upper analysis region increases.

  • We have solved a problem occurring in case that RSVP is applied to existing wired network in order to guarantee a QoS of multimedia traffic in mobile computing environment in this paper. If MN moves to another area when Mobile IP is applied to RSVP, HA makes new tunnel to FA because SESSION ID of MN is changed. However, we suggest MIP-DUDN method, which applied RSVP. Although MN moves to another area in this method, it does not make new tunnel because it eliminates the problem of existing Triangle Routing Problem. We design the new protocol of RMIP-DUDN and compare with the method of existing Mobile IP applied to RSVP.

  • Composition Presplitting Angle Cut (COPA-Cut) is a newly developed blasting method for tunnel excavation. Contrary to existing methods, COPA-Cut first creates presplitting by tension crack in cut. In this study, field tests measuring the advance efficiency, noise and ground vibration were performed in order to verify the presplitting effect. To compare the economy and workability, tests were simultaneously performed by COPA-Cut and existing method on the same condition. Results show that COPA-Cut increased advance efficiency and decreased noise and ground vibration. Also, it was confirmed that COPA-Cut is superior to existing method in terms of economy, workability and quality control.

  • Shotcrete is NATM technique after tunnel excavation as major tunnel support for ground stability, curtail of execution period and reduction of execution expenses instead of general lining method. It is trend using constantly shotcrete lining. This high-strength shotcrete is require to use as constantly shotcrete lining. This brought out the solution of environmental pollution and harmfulness about human. Accordingly, in this study Specimens of strength measurement was made to develop shotcrete possible to develop in early materials with Cement Mineral Accelerator as NATM method construction. It's compared with existing shotcrete material, Unconfined Compression test, flexural strength test were experimented. The fish poison test was experimented to evaluate an influence of environment. On results of test, Unconfined Compressive Strength and flexural strength was equivalent with 28-day strength of existing material. On results of fish poison evaluation research subject material was founded environmentally friendly for existing shotcrete.

  • This paper presents the effect of ground vibration induced by vibrohammer and RCD on adjancent subway tunnel performance using FDM program. Firstly, the stability criteria for structures near vibration source were proposed according to existing data, then peak particle velocity around tunnel was estimated based on detailed information of vibrohammer and existing formula for dynamic loads through numerical analysis. The peak particle velocity induced by RCD bit rotation was also estimated using surveyed data and formula. Consequently, displacement and stress responses were obtained at crown, shoulder and spring line and compared with the criteria to check stability of tunnel.

  • In this paper, a study was conducted on the method of establishing the master plan standard for rational decision-making about utility tunnel construction in the existing urban. In the previous study, the optimal route was selected by the feasibility assessment. However, in order to increase the objectivity of the installation conditions of the utility tunnel in the master plan standard, comprehensive evaluation of the results by feasibility and economics analysis calculates the overall ranking for all sections analyzed. In addition, based on the results of the comprehensive evaluation, a method for establishing a mid·long term investment plan was introduced after reviewing the project to be conducted in the region. Additionally, in order to review the establishment of the standard suggested in the paper, an analysis was conducted by applying the master plan procedure to the northwestern urban zone of seoul.

  • Microcement grouting and micro pile are frequently used for ground modification during tunnel construction. The influence of grouting pressure of microcement grouting and micro pile to the existing bridge which is directly over the constructing tunnel is investigated. Three dimensional seepage flow-structure interactive analysis considering firm water pressure with full stages of construction including the construction of upper bridge, microcement grouting, micro pile and tunnel is performed. The settlement and tilting of the pier of existing bridge violate the design code and the reaction of the bridge are highly increased after grouting. The stress of tunnel bracings such as rockbolt and shotcrete also exceed the limit of the code. The pressure of microcement grouting is confined by bedrock and transmit to the surrounded soil and the upper bridge. Microcement grouting needs mid-high pressure to penetrate through weak fault plane and the pressure greatly influence the safety of the upper structure. It is important to decide and care the grouting pressure to improve weak fault plane directly under the existing structures and the pressure of microcement grouting should be considered in underground analysis.

  • Underground utility tunnel, the most representative cut and cover structure, is subjected to seismic force by displacement of the surrounding soil. In 2020, Korea Infrastructure Safety Corporation has published "Seismic Performance Evaluation Guideline for Existing Utility Tunnel." This paper introduces two seismic evaluation methods, RDM (Response Displacement Method) and RHA (Response History Analysis) adopted in the guide and compares the methods for an example of an existing utility tunnel. The test tunnel had been constructed in 1988 and seismic design was not considered. RDM is performed by single and double cosine methods based on the velocity response spectrum at the base rock. RHA is performed by finite difference analysis that is able to consider nonlinear behavior of soil and structure together in two-dimensional plane strain condition. The utility tunnel shows elastic behavior for RDM, but shows plastic hinge for RHA under the collapse prevention level earthquake.
