Construction of a Web-based e-Teaching Portfolio for the Efficient Management

  • This study presents an analysis of the current situation (management, approach, adjustment, transportation, and others) of teaching portfolio by examining the teaching portfolio managers (staffs, researchers, teaching assistants, etc.) of 6 universities in the southeast of Korea. The rationale for the study focus is that the existing teaching portfolio either suffers a problem in the transportation, approach, adjustment and/or management or is likely to raise a problem in the future. In order to solve this problem, this study builds a web-based e-teaching portfolio. According to the analysis results, the engineering education system was established in all 6 universities (Ed- note that '6 universities' has already been specified as the study sample). The teaching portfolio was partially digitalized in this system, despite some problems of converting analog data into digital data, which induced difficulties in constructing the overall e-teaching portfolio. Therefore, this study focused on constructing an e-teaching portfolio without developing any additional system by using the existing system positively, and also on determining the appropriate components among the existing teaching portfolio components. Accordingly, in order to convert the analog data into the digital data required for this study, we used a digital camera as the conversion device and converted the teaching portfolio components into those appropriate for the e-teaching portfolio. Finally, we constructed an existing system appropriate for the e-teaching portfolio by using these devices and components.

Design of Thermally Coupled Distillation Process Utilizing Existing Columns (기존 증류탑을 이용한 열복합 증류공정의 설계)

  • Though many divided wall columns are implemented in field as energy-efficient distillation columns, its application is limited due to the difficulty of building a new column. A novel energy-efficient distillation system utilizing the existing columns is proposed here. The proposed can reduce the energy consumption by about 39% comparing with the existing system. And it is shown that the proposed improves the column operability over the existing. The tray numbers of the added columns have no significant influence on the composition of a side draw.

A Study on the Mixed Usage of Logical Block and Moving Block in CBTC System (CBTC 시스템에서 논리 폐색과 이동 폐색의 혼용에 관한 연구)

  • This paper proposes a CBTC wayside signaling system, which redeems existing track-circuit-based ones by using movement authorities mixed with logical block and moving block. Only one train can be entered into the logical block or the route for existing wayside signaling system. Applying moving block for CBTC system enables the train to get nearer to the preceding one, because its protection mechanism uses train's safe boundary, not fixed block unit. By narrowing the existing route set to switch machine and applying the moving block beyond that area, more than one train can enter into one route area. This paper shows that the efficient train control, i.e. shortening the headway, is possible using the moving block mixed with logical block in wayside signaling system.

  • This research, through the analysis of existing programs, presents a simplified logical program which can show the thermal performance of a system, based only on hourly weather data and the system design data. This program is applicable for analyzing a system of direct heating or recirculation heating which may enhance the performance of an existing solar house. Using these system in the existing systems a little raise in performance. The model analysis of a $100\;m^2$ solar house in the seoul region shows that the following figures are the most efficient and suitable; 1. Installation an81e of collector: $45^{\circ}$ 2. Collector size: $34.56\;m^2$ 3. Capacity of main storage tank: $25\;m^3$

  • The purpose of this paper, as a part of healthcare research, is to design and development Patient-aware System that will support EMR(Electronic Medical Record) in hospital. A mobile device-based system that can use database of existing EMR, replace existing paper-type chart, and identify patient fast and correctly was developed. To identify patient, RFID(Radio Frequency Identification) was used, and through interworking RFID and the system, it is possible to identify patient automatically. The developed system was tested in the test bed, and the possibility of faster diagnosis and treatment than existing paper-type chart was tested.

  • WIM(Weigh-In-Motion) is the system measuring the weight of the vehicle with a high-speed. In the existing WIM system, vehicle weight is measured based on the constant speed and the error ratio has 10%. However, because of measuring the driving pattern, that is abnormal driving pattern which is like the acceleration and down-shift of the drivers, it has the error ratio which is bigger than the real. In order to it reduces the error ratio of WIM system, the improved WIM system needs to find the abnormal driving pattern. In order to reducing the error ratio of these WIM systems, the improved WIM system can find abnormal driving patterns. In this paper, the improved WIM system which analyzes the abnormality driving pattern influencing on the error ratio of WIM system of an existing and minimizes the error span is designed. The improved WIM system has the multi step loop structure of adding the loop sensor to an existing system. In addition, the measure function defined as an intrinsic is improved and the weight measured by the abnormal driving pattern is amended. The analysis of experiment result improved WIM system can know the fact that the error span reduces by 8% less than in the existing the maximum average sampling error 22.98%.

  • We analyzed case studies doing in-depth inspection of tunnel to maintain safety of existing tunnel in constructing new tunnel near to a existing tunnel with single track. Futhermore, We accomplished in-depth inspection of existing tunnel and numerical analysis. We suggested remedies to security safety of existing tunnel. We applied line drilling and pre-large hole boring method not to have an effect on existing tunnel and convinced the safety of existing tunnel from blast-vibration and blast-noise of numerical analysis. We planed to install basset system to measure displacement of existing tunnel according to excavating new tunnel.

Nation-wide Interoperable transportation card X-CASH System and Settlement interface Development (전국호환 교통카드 X-CASH 시스템과 정산인터페이스 개발)

  • Although the existing X-CASH card system observes the KS standard for a transportation card system, there has been an issue for interoperability between X-CASH and other public transportation system due to the partially undefined part in the standard. This issue is followed by the inconvenience of the existing X-CASH users. If the existing X-CASH card user wants to get any other public transportations which are not interoperated with X-CASH, the user would have to buy other cards. Consequently, some users have to bring more than one card with them. In addition, it is almost impossible that the existing X-CASH system operator makes the X-CASH card available for the infrastructure built by other cards operators because their technologies are too much different. The X-CASH operator must construct its own infrastructure on the same route and it would cause an unnecessary loss of expense and labor. To solve these problems, We modified the existing X-CASH system and developed the Nation-wide Interoerable X-CASH system which lets both the existing X-CASH card and Nation-wide Interoperable X-CASH card work. This developed X-CASH system consists of the purchase SAM, the purchase terminal and the settlement. And The conformity test for it was successfully authorized. Also we, KORAIL NETWORKS, have done the test-bed on this Nation-wide interoperable X-CASH system in Gwangju for six months with Telecommunications & Clearings, the HiPlusCard Corporation. This test confirmed that the Nation-wide Interoperable X-CASH system would practically work well.

A Study on the Evolution of Social Service Policy : By the Path Dependence and Path Evolution

  • This study intended to analyze whether the system of voucher system, which was introduced as a policy tool to expand social services, was dependent or evolving through the research methodology of historical institutionalism. The voucher system is being introduced to emphasize the user's focus in the existing supplier-centered service provision system, but problems with the existing system have been found so far. We found that despite the shift in welfare paradigm from the remaining welfare supply to universal welfare in the past, the company was partially following the existing supplier-centered social service system. However, We found that new instruments for establishing legal systems and the path evolution factors are now being developed and matured within the voucher system. In other words, it was possible to predict that the voucher system would become more positive and mature in the future through logical changes in the system. Based on the results of the analysis of the voucher system, policy suggestions for policy values and objectives that were initially oriented toward the system were presented.

Proposal of a Novel Plug-in-hybrid Power System Based on Analysis of PHEV System (PHEV 시스템의 분석을 통한 신 PHEV 동력 시스템 제안)

  • In order to develop the PHEV(plug-in hybrid electric vehicle), the specific power transmission systems considering the PHEV system characteristics should be applied. A PHEV applied to series-parallel type hybrid power transmission system is a typical example. In this paper, the novel hybrid power systems are proposed by analyzing the existing PHEV system. The backward simulation program is developed to analyze the fuel efficiency of hybrid power system. Quasi-static models for each components such as engine, motor, battery and vehicle are included in the developed simulation program. To obtain an optimal condition for hybrid systems, an optimization approach called the dynamic programming is applied. The simulation is performed in various driving cycles. A weakness for the existing system is found through the simulation. To compensate for a discovered weakness, novel hybrid power systems are proposed by adding or moving the clutch to the existing system. Comparing the simulation results for each systems, the improved fuel efficiency for proposed systems are verified.
