FTIR법에 의한 천연가스자동차 배기의 촉매반응특성 분석 (Analysis of Catalytic Reaction Characteristics of NGV Exhaust Gas by FTIR Spectroscopy)

  • FTIR spectroscopy, useful technology for simultaneous and continuous measurement of the various components of the automotive exhaust gas, is utilized to investigate catalytic reaction charactristics of methane and a few unregulated exhaust emissions of NGV. Major findings are (1) catalytic reaction characteristics of methane measured in unsteady states of varying temperature are similar to those measured in steady states, (2) about 24 % of NO was oxidized to $NO_2$ as soon as they encounter catalysts, (3) study of formaldehyde suffers from difficulties in measurement due to the proximity in wavenumber of formaldehyde and methane, and requires an analyzer of higher resolution and accuracy than used in this study.

디젤 엔진에서 금속 폼을 적용한 SCR 촉매의 특성 분석 (Characteristic Analysis of a SCR System using a Metal Foam in Diesel Engines)

  • SCR(Selective Catalytic Reduction) is a major after-treatment solution to reduce NOx emission in recent diesel engines. In this study, a metal foam is applied as an alternative SCR substrate and tested in a commercial diesel engine to compared with a conventional ceramic SCR system. Basic engine test from ND-13 mode shows that a metal foam catalyst has lower NOx conversion efficiency than a ceramic catalyst especially over $350^{\circ}C$. A metal foam catalyst has characteristics of high exhaust gas pressure before a SCR catalyst and high heat transfer rate due to its material and structure. NOx conversion efficiency of a metal foam catalyst shows an increasing tendency along with the increase of exhaust gas temperature by $500^{\circ}C$. The effect of urea injection quantity variation is also remarkable only at high exhaust gas temperature.

  • This study is analysis on the heat transfer of exhaust gas into the muffler at passenger Car. Numerical analysis with Computational fluid Dynamics(CFD) was carried out to investigate exhaust gas flow. The STAR-CD S/W used for the three dimensional steady state CFD analysis in a muffler. The Navier-Stokes Equation is solved with the SIMPLE method in a general cartesian coordinates system. Result of numerical simulation; Inlet and outlet temperature shown about ${\Delta}T=239K$, 216K, 202K at in the muffler. Heat transfer was progressed quickly by atmospheric temperature of muffler external at in the near wall.

고 발열량 산업폐기물을 처리하는 소형 소각로의 소각 및 배출 특성 (Combustion and Emission Characteristics of High Calorific Industrial Waste Burned in a Small-scale Incinerator)

  • Experiments on burning process of the industrial wastes were performed on a nozzle-type grate in the industrial waste incinerator with a capacity of 160 kilograms per hour. The temporal variations of temperatures and concentrations of the exhaust gas were measured and analyzed. The synthetic leather waste with the moisture content less than 2% was used. The experimental results show that the CO concentration in the exhaust gas exceeds the limit, 600 ppm, and the gas temperature fluctuates too much when 8 kg of waste was supplied every 3 minutes, equivalent to the capacity of 160kg per hour. That is a typical burning mode of this high-calorific industrial waste. When the smaller unit waste input, 6kg per every 2 min 15 seconds was supplied, we could reduce the fluctuations of the furnace temperature and improve the exhaust emissions, especially the CO concentration.

  • 불꽃점화 엔진의 냉각수 유동 특성을 개선하기위하여 본 연구가 수행되었다. 배기밸브와 배기 포트의 냉각수 유로에서의 유동특성이 중점적으로 고려되었다. 베이스 모델의 수치해석적 분석에서 2번 실린더의 배기 밸브사이에 유동 정체가 발견되었다. 이러한 문제점을 극복하기 위하여 관련된 냉각수 통로를 재설계하고 최적화 하였다. 또한 배기가스의 온도를 낮추는 냉각수 코어 모델을 설계하기 위하여 배기매니폴드 하부의 냉각수 통로를 보강 설계하였다. 본 연구를 통하여 실린더 헤드와 블록사이의 냉각수 유동을 제어하는 가스킷의 중요성을 확인하였으며, 질량분포의 개선을 통하여 배기밸브 사이와 실린더헤드에서의 유동 특성을 개선하였다.

  • A synchronized secondaty air injection method has been developed to hydrocarbon emission by injecting secondary air intermittently into exhaust port. The method has been tested in a single cylinder spark-ignition engine operating at cold-steady / cold-start conditions. Effects of air injection timing, intake pressure and engine air-fuel ratio have been investigated at cold-steady condition. Also, hydrocarbon emission and exhaust gas temperature with catalytic conberter are compared with a continuous SAI method and base condition at cold-start condition. Resules show that hydrocarbon reduction rate and exhaust gas temperature are sensitive to the timing of synchronized SAI. At cold-steady condition, HC emission is minimum at engine air-fuel ratio of 10. At cold-start condition, the accumulated hydrocarbon emission during the first 120 s decreases about 56% and 22% with the synchronized and continuous SAI, respectively, compared to that of base condition.

Mixer design for improving the injection uniformity of the reduction agent in SCR system

  • In this paper, we propose a method to optimize the geometry and installation position of the mixer in the selective catalytic reduction (SCR) system by computational fluid dynamic(CFD). Using the commercial CFD software of CFD-ACE+, the flow dynamics of the flue gas was numerically analyzed for improving the injection uniformity of the reduction agent. Numerical analysis of the mixed gas heat flow into the upstream side of the primary SCR catalyst layer was performed when the denitrification facility was operated. The characteristics such as the flow rate, temperature, pressure loss and ammonia concentration of the mixed gas consisting of the flue gas and the ammonia reducing gas were examined at the upstream of the catalyst layer of SCR. The temperature difference on the surface of the catalyst layer is very small compared to the flow rate of the exhaust gas, and the temperature difference caused by the reducing gas hardly occurs because the flow rate of the reducing gas is very small. When the mixed gas is introduced into the SCR reactor, there is a slight tendency toward one wall. When the gas passes through the catalyst layer having a large pressure loss, the flow angle of the exhaust gas changes because the direction of the exhaust gas changes toward a smaller flow. Based on the uniformity of the flow rate of the mixed gas calculated at the SCR, it is judged that the position of the test port reflected in the design is proper.

디젤 자동차의 에어컨 사용시 흡기계통 개선에 따른 출력 및 매연 특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Power and Smoke Characteristics for the Intake System Improvement using Air Conditioning System in a Diesel Vehicle)

  • This study investigated the symptoms of the a reduction in output while driving on the road, or increasing of fumer out exhaust gas on inclined road while working air-conditioner in summer. Notice how the experiment in 2010, the Ministry of Environment(Chapter No. 2010-46), and how the vehicle emissions inspection was carried out. 2500cc Diesel cars used in the study were used and compare to output of engine, exhaust gas, inhalation temperature measurement Inhalation of cold air has not been supplied to all agencies when comparing the results when cold air intake temperature of the supply air-conditioning switch range control from 1 to 4, the temperature drops $98^{\circ}C$ to $78^{\circ}C$. At the momentum of switch level 4, output from 63ps to 66ps after the connection has increased 9.6 percent, the highest concentration of exhaust emissions were reduced by 42.8%. This research can contribute in part to the reduction of exhaust directly supply into the cooling air intake line, doing the output of diesel cars in the summer. In addition, construction equipment and machinery that are currently being used excluding the engine's intercooler cooling of the supply line via a separate output in the summer and help reduce exhaust emissions is expected.

저온 디젤 연소에서 발생하는 탄화수소 종 분석 (Hydrocarbon Speciation in Low Temperature Diesel Combustion)

  • 1.7L 커먼 레일 직접 연료분사 디젤엔진과 초저유황 스웨덴 디젤 연료를 이용하여 연료분사시기 8.5CA BTDC~0.5CA BTDC 와 배기가스 재순환률 37%, 43%, 48% 영역에서 실험을 수행하였다. 각각의 배기가스 재순환률에 대하여 연료분사시기가 지각됨에 따라 매연과 질소산화물이 동시에 저감되나 탄화수소와 일산화탄소는 증가하는 저온 디젤 연소영역에 있음을 확인하였다. 탄화수소를 가스크로마토그래프와 불꽃 이온 검출기를 사용하여 종 분석을 수행하였으며, 연료분사시기가 지각될수록, 그리고 배기가스 재순환률이 증가할수록 Partially burned HC, 알켄의 비율이 증가하였다. Partially burned HC 중에서 에텐이, 그리고 Unburned HC 중에서 노말 운데케인이 가장 많이 배출되었다. 이 두 개의 탄화수소 종은 촉매 연구에 사용되는 벤치 플로우리액터 시험에서 대표적인 탄화수소 종으로 사용할 수 있다.

자동차 배기가스 측정을 위한 매연프로브 효율 개선에 관한 연구 (Improvement of Soot Probe Efficiency for Automotive Emission Measurement)

  • Cars are inspected in the transport sector for their ability to achieve the greenhouse gas reduction targets. A vehicle (automobile) inspection broadly consists of regular and total checks, and both the safety level and the amount of exhaust gas are checked simultaneously during a vehicle inspection. This study deals with the efficiency of a soot probe to measure soot emissions from diesel vehicles. When the vehicle exhaust gas measurement is performed, there may be a difference between the exhaust gas temperature and the soot suction amount because of the different shape and angle of the exhaust port for each vehicle type. This may result in some incidents where the correct inspection nonconforming vehicle is not selected. Therefore, in this study, the shape of the probe was improved to increase the soot measurement efficiency under the condition of the exhaust pipe angle change.
