IT-based physical activity and exercise programs for individuals with spinal cord injury

  • 척수장애인들에게 있어 신체활동 및 운동을 장려함으로써 건강 결과에 긍정적인 영향을 미칠 수 있도록 하는 것이 중요하다. 현재 증거에 따르면 IT기반으로 하는 근력 및 근지구력, 심폐 운동, 전기 자극 운동과 로봇 운동 등 모두 체력 구성 요소를 개선하고 2차 건강 합병증의 위험을 줄이며 만성 신체 장애가 있는 사람들의 전반적인 건강에 긍정적인 영향을 미칠 수 있다. 근력 및 근지구력을 증진하기 위해서는 운동 빈도는 주 2회, 3세트 실시하도록 하며 근력의 증진을 위해서는 < 5 Reps으로, 일반적인 강도는 6~15회 반복하도록 하며, 근지구력을 향상시키기 위해서는 15~30회 반복하도록 한다. 심폐 능력의 향상을 위해서는 주 3-5회, 20~60분, 최고심박수의 50~80%로 실시하도록 하였다. 따라서 IT 기반의 다양한 운동 이점을 실현하고 전문 장비, 시설 및 트레이너에 대한 접근을 위한 더 높은 자원 투자가 필요하다.

지지면 변화에 따른 교각운동이 복횡근 두께와 균형능력에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구 (The Effects of Transverse Abdominis Ratio and Balance Ability during Bridge Exercises on Different Support Surface)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of transverse abdominis ratio and balance ability during bridge exercises on different support surface. Methods: The subjects were 20 students at G University. Ultrasound equipment was used to measure the transverse abdominisratio and the computerized balance measurement equipment was used to measure the balance ability before and after bridge exercises on different support surface. Results: Transverse abdominis ratio change between the groups was a significant difference only in the unstable support surface training group (p<.05). Normal standing eye close balance ability change between the groups was significantly different only in the unstable support surface training group (p<.05). The changes in the transverse abdominis ratio after 7 days of exercise and 14 days after exercise were significantly different between the groups (p<.05). Normal standing eye close balance ability showed a significant difference at 7 days after exercise and 14 days after exercise (p<.05). Conclusions: It is more effective to balance ability and ratio of the transverse abdominis when bridge exercises on an unstable support surface than to perform bridge exercises on a stable support surface. Therefore, we propose an effective program for patients with instability of the lumbar in clinical practice. bridge exercises on different support surface.

코어근육군 강화를 위한 무동력 승마운동기구개발에 관한 연구 (A Study on Development of Non-Powered Horse Riding Device for Enhancement of Core Muscle)

  • Objective : The aim of this study was to develop the non-powered horse riding device and was to evaluate the elaborate its applicability throughout static structural and transient structural analysis of the outdoor core strength exercise equipment. Method : Fifteen college students (mass: $69.55{\pm}13.38kg$, height: $1.69{\pm}5.61m$, age: $21.42{\pm}1.83yrs$) rode the powered horse riding device and 14 college students (mass: $71.12{\pm}9.74kg$, height: $1.73{\pm}3.31m$, age: $22.50{\pm}1.47yrs$) rode the non-powered horse riding device for the comparison. All motion capture data was collected at 100 Hz using six infrared cameras and the muscular activities were collected using a Delsys Trigno wireless system. The peak forward/backward lean angle, range of motion anter/posterior and vertical COM(Center of mass) movement of trunk and pelvis segment, and muscle activities of six muscles were compared between the two devices by using independent t-test (p<.05). Results : Several kinematic variables (peak forward-backward lean angle and vertical COM movement of trunk and pelvis segment, range of motion of trunk) significantly different between non-powered and powered horse riding device. The muscle activities of Rectus abdominis and External oblique of abdomen on the non-powered horse riding device were significantly greater than those of the powered device. Conclusion : It was concluded that non-power horse riding device could give the effect of core strength exercise as well as the body motion which can simulate the powered horse riding device.

  • Combating the worldwide environmental threat of plastic waste pollution has become a priority. Plastic pollution has the potential to impact land, rivers, and seas, since many marine and terrestrial organisms have perished as a result of plastic's non-biodegradability and soil dangers. For this consumption, it seems required to manufacture and use new renewable resources. Renewable materials for diverse applications have been created utilizing nanotechnology, which may replace conventional materials for children's activities and sports equipment. This study investigates and suggests that nanotechnology-based materials be replaced with conventional materials to save the environment in manufacturing equipment for children's physical activities. On the basis of the mechanical sciences, a stability study of the bending behavior of small-scale structures will be performed for the various recommended materials.

누리다 볼 운동기구의 운동 강도와 운동 효율성 검증연구 (A study on verification of exercise intensity and efficiency in Nurida-ball exercise equipment)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 새롭게 개발된 Nurida-ball 공차기 운동기구의 효율성을 검증하기 위해 중년 남성을 대상으로 일회성 운동에 의한 운동 강도 측정과 장기간 운동에 의한 건강 관련 지표들을 확인하는데 있다. 첫 번째 연구에서는 Nurida-ball의 운동 강도를 측정하기 위해 8명의 중년 남성을 대상으로 30분간 Nurida-ball 운동을 실시하고 이를 트레드밀 운동부하검사에서(graded treadmill exercise test: GXT) 측정된 최대치와 상대적으로 비교 분석하였다. 두 번째 연구에서는 12명의 중년 남성을 Nurida-ball 운동 그룹(NB, n=6)과 대조군 그룹(CON, n=6)으로 구분하고 NB 그룹은 8주간 운동을 실시하였다(30min/day, 3 days/week). 이후 운동의 효율성을 검증하기 위해 신체구성, 심폐기능, 혈액 지질 성분 및 근 손상 지표를 확인하였다. 먼저 일회성 Nurida-ball 운동 시 나타난 운동 강도는 GXT-HRpeak(55~85%)과 $GXT-VO_2peak$(23~61%)으로 각각 나타났다. 8주간 장기간 운동을 실시한 연구에서는 CON 그룹과 비교하여 NB 그룹에서 체중, 체지방, 체지방율, 체질량지수의 변화량이(사후-사전) 통계적으로 유의하게 감소한 것으로 나타났다. 또한 NB 집단에서 운동 전과 비교하여 운동 후에 TC와 LDL는 감소되고 BMC는 증가하는 것으로 나타났다. GXT의 최대 환기당량과 수행시간의 변화량이(사후-사전) CON 그룹과 비교하여 NB 그룹에서 유의하게 증가한 것으로 나타났다. 특히 GXT의 운동수행시간은 NB 집단에서만 운동 전과 비교하여 운동 후에 유의하게 증가된 것으로 나타났다. 이를 종합해 보면 Nurida-ball 운동기구는 신체구성과 심폐기능에 긍정적인 영향을 미칠 수 있는 운동 기구로써 중년 남성들에게 나타나는 대사성 질환들을 완화시킬 수 있을 것으로 생각된다.

재난관리 공무원의 재난대응훈련에 관한 인식 연구 - 일반 행정직공무원과 소방공무원을 중심으로 - (A Study on Disaster Management Officer's Perception about the Disaster Response Exercise - Focused on General Officers and Firemen -)

  • 본 연구논문은 지방자치단체에서 재난관리에 관한 총괄 조정업무를 담당하고 있는 일반 행정직공무원과 긴급구조업무를 담당하고 있는 소방공무원을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하여 재난대응훈련에 관한 인식을 조사하였다. 설문조사결과 두 직렬공무원 모두 재난대응훈련에 동원되는 장비 및 훈련에 필요한 예산의 확보, 유관기관 사이의 네트워크 구축, 실제상황 및 지역특성의 반영, 훈련평가결과는 재난대응매뉴얼 및 다음 훈련에 반영, 훈련에 필요한 지휘통신 시스템의 확보 등이 필요한 것으로 나타났다.

Respiratory Responses during Exercise in Self-contained Breathing Apparatus among Firefighters and Nonfirefighters

  • Background: Firefighters are required to use self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA), which impairs ventilatory mechanics. We hypothesized that firefighters have elevated arterial $CO_2$ when using SCBA. Methods: Firefighters and controls performed a maximal exercise test on a cycle ergometer and two graded exercise tests (GXTs) at 25%, 50%, and 70% of their maximal aerobic power, once with a SCBA facemask and once with protective clothing and full SCBA. Results: Respiratory rate increased more in controls than firefighters. Heart rate increased as a function of oxygen consumption ($V_{O_2}$) more in controls than firefighters. End-tidal $CO_2$ ($ETCO_2$) during the GXTs was not affected by work rate in either group for either condition but was higher in firefighters at all work rates in both GXTs. SCBA increased $ETCO_2$ in controls but not firefighters. Conclusions: The present study showed that when compared to controls, firefighters' hypoventilate during a maximal test and GXT. The hypoventilation resulted in increased $ETCO_2$, and presumably increased arterial $CO_2$, during exertion. It is proposed that firefighters have altered $CO_2$ sensitivity due to voluntary hypoventilation during training and work. Confirmation of low $CO_2$ sensitivity and the consequence of this on performance and long-term health remain to be determined.

키네시오 테이핑 적용에 따른 플라이오메트릭 운동이 근활성도와 순발력에 미치는 영향 (The Effect of Plyometric Exercise with Application of Kinesio Taping on Muscle Activity and Power Abilities)

  • Background: This study was performed to identify what effect plyometric exercise with application of kinesio taping gives on muscle activity and power of lower limb. Methods: In order to conduct research, total 14 male students at G university located Gwangyang city were randomly assigned; 7 for experimental group (with kinesio taping application) and 7 for control groups(without kinesio taping application) were conducted with box drill, one of the plyometric exercise 5 times a week for 4 weeks. Muscle activities were measured by using electrodiagnosis equipment on quadriceps and gastrocnemius. Collected data was analyzed by using Windows SPSS version 19.0. Results: Muscle activities show statistically significant differences (p<.05) both before and after exercise in experimental and control groups in terms of vastus medialis, rectus femoris, vastus lateralis and lateral gastrocnemius. However, only medial gastrocnemius shows statistically significant differences in experimental group compared before and after exercise. Sargent jump for measuring power shows that only experimental group presents statistically significant differences (p<.05). Two groups show that vastus medialis, vastus lateralis, lateral gastrocnemius and medial gastrocnemius only in muscle activities show statistically significant differences (p<.05) after exercise. Conclusion: The result of this survey indicates that plyometric exercise is effective to improve muscle activity and power of lower limb, especially, the group who exercises with application of kinesio tape is more effective than the other group with no tape application. Therefore, it is considered that plyometric exercise with tape is more effective to improve power and muscle strength.

A comparison of the aerobic cost and muscle use in aerobic dance to the energy costs and muscle use on treadmill, elliptical trainer and bicycle ergometry

  • Objective: To determine the energy consumed and muscle use during dance compared to different standard exercise devices. Design: Longitudinal study. Methods: Fifteen female subjects were evaluated to assess the energy cost and muscle activity during a 20 minute dance video compared to treadmill, elliptical track and bicycle ergometry. The later 3 forms of exercise were accomplished in four, 5 minute bouts at different intensities of exercise. Subjects were in the age range of 22-24 years old, were free of cardiovascular disease and did not have any neurological injuries. They were not sedentary and exercised at least twice a week. During the exercise, muscle activity was measured by the electromyogram recorded by surface electrodes on 6 muscle groups. A Cosmed metabolic cart was used to measure oxygen consumption during the exercise. Results: The aerobic dance video that was tested here was equivalent to a hard workout on any of the 3 exercise modalities. The dance routine was equivalent in terms of energy consumed to running at 225 watts of work or running for 20 minutes at a speed of 2 meters per second (4.47 miles per hour). Compared to the bicycle, it was equivalent to cycling at 112 watts for 20 minutes (2.25 kpm), and for the elliptical trainer, dance was equivalent to 435 watts. Concerning muscle use, the dance routine was the most balanced for upper, core and lower body muscles. Although the elliptical trainer was close, it required muscle less muscle use. Conclusion: A good dance video can be more effective than standard exercise equipment.

공압운동기기의 하지 슬관절 운동 시 재활운동 효과의 유효성에 관한 연구 (Validation of Exercise Effect in Rehabilitation during Knee Extension of the Lower Limbs using Pneumatic Exercise System)

  • 본 연구에서는 공압 액추에이터를 이용하여 보다 안전하고 편리하게 사용자가 원하는 맞춤형 운동 프로그램을 선택할 수 있는 공압용 슬관절 운동시스템을 개발하였고, 재활운동 시 운동효과에 대한 유효성을 검증하고자 한다. 피험자는 평소 운동을 주 1회 이하로 실시하며 슬관절 신전과 굴곡에 이상이 없는 대학생 수준의 20대 남녀 10명을 대상으로 실시하였다. 실험방법은 기존의 유압식 슬관절 운동장비와 개발된 운동시스템을 이용하여 하루 12회씩 3세트의 슬관절 신전 및 굴곡운동을 실시하고, 주 3회 실시하며 실험은 총 4주간 반복되었다. 운동부하 프로그램은 유압식의 수동형 운동부하와 본 연구에서 개발된 시스템의 능동형 운동부하로 나누어 제공하였다. 운동부하 프로그램에 따른 실시간 근육활성 패턴과 운동 전 후 근육활성도를 비교함으로써 재활운동에 대한 운동효과를 검증하였다. 실험결과 수동형 운동부하보다 능동형 운동부하에 보다 높은 근육활성도를 이끌어 냈으며 운동 4주 후 더 큰 근력증진 효과를 나타냈다. 장비 중심의 운동부하 보다 사용자 중심의 운동부하가 더 효과적으로 근력을 증진할 수 있음을 알 수 있었다. 향후 재활환자나 노약자들에게 안전하고 효율적인 재활운동프로그램으로 활용 될 것이며 또한 재활장비에 적용되어 재활치료관련 종사자들에게 보다 쉽고 편리한 재활운동처방이 가능할 것이라 사료된다.
