  • The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of combined exercise and creatine consumption to muscular function and pain in 24 middle-aged men in back pain patients. The patients were categorized into three groups; 8 patients underwent combined exercise alone, 8 patients underwent creatine consumption as well as combined exercise and the control group was 8 patients without these options. The follow-up period was 10 weeks doing aerobic exercise, resistance exercise or creatine consumption. The group that underwent creatine intake as well as combined exercise simultaneously showed significant increase on the 0°, 12°, 24°, 36°, 48°, 60° and 72° of back muscular power in the muscular function changes compared to control group, furthermore, it showed statistically significant improvement on the 24°, 36°, 48° and 60° in the combined exercise group compared to control group. However, between the group that underwent creatine consumption as well as combined exercise and the group that underwent combined exercise, the back muscular power was high in the all angles, but it was not statistically significant. The group that performed both creatine consumption and combined exercise showed pain relief relatively, comparing with either combined exercise or control group and the pain was also alleviated in the combined exercise group.

  • Sling exercise treatment(S-E-T) is a therapeutic exercise based on scientific studies for the purpose of treating musculoskeletal or neurological disorders thereby improving strength, endurance, and skills for sensory-motor integration. Exercise resistance and intensity can be modified in various ways by changing the length of rope, patient position, therapist's manual resistance, and using elastic rope. The therapist can also progress to successively higher levels of exercise resistance and intensity by changing the position of the hanging point: the subject of this article. In brief, there are three axial components in S-E-T; hanging point, motor axis, and suspension point. The hanging point can be changed in several ways in relation to the joint; axial, superior, inferior, medial, and posterior hanging points. The position of the hanging point affects the amount of load on agonist and antagonist muscles as well as on the range of motion. To create an advanced exercise program, selection of hanging point can be two-dimensional such as superior-lateral or anterior-medial. Therapists, therefore, can freely but carefully select the best hanging point based on the purpose of the exercise and their level of knowledge in S-E-T.

  • Physical manifestations of aging due to the lack of exercise include the slowing down of motor learning, cardiopulmonary degradation, and the increasing difficulty to adapt to the environment. Aging is manifested with the lack of aerobic exercise work, decrease in muscular endurance, decline in skeletal and muscular strength, flexibility and agility, and the decrease in reaction speed and balance. Added to those are aging-related physiological changes, including the reduction of muscle bulk, increased body fat, decrease in total body water and basic metabolic rate as activities are reduced, and a decrease in cell and Lean Body Mass (LBM). These changes are known to cause problems. Interest and participation in appropriate physical activities among the elderly is needed to help them increase stamina, avoid diseases, maintain a clear intellect, and basically enable the elderly to live their daily lives as easy as possible. Therefore, physical activities are necessary for the elderly to enhance health-related factors. Special exercises should be performed for the enhancement of muscle function, muscle endurance, flexibility, agility, and balance. An accurate measurement of cardio-respiratory endurance and stamina through basic physical and cognitive characteristics of older adults is also required to ensure safety. Also, the development of a more scientific resistance exercise prescription system for the elderly is desperately needed.

  • Steady exercise or walking exercise is helpful for the treatment of chronic diseases or cancers. In this paper, I presented a smart poster to enable the patients to exercise while moving between the smart posters, dynamically, in order to provide better exercise effect to them. It can be a new form of exercise prescription that combines exercise with walking using smart posters. The personalized exercise prescription is downloaded from the management server in real time when the patient approaches, and induces the patient's exercise and walking. In addition, the smart poster helps patient to move to other posters in order to induce more walking exercise. To achieve this, I proposed a transfer protocol that autonomously exchanges session information between smart posters in this paper. Moreover, the smart poster based on Raspberry was implemented to verify validity of this protocol, and an experiment was conducted to measure the request and response time between smart posters in the implemented environment. In the experiment, when the other poster sent the message requesting the exercise session 100 times and received the response message, the 95 percentage of received messages had the response time within 0.05 seconds.
