Effects on the Recovery of Motor Function, Change ECG and Troponin I According to Different Amounts Exercise in Ischemic Stroke Patients (운동적용 시간량이 허혈성 뇌졸중 환자의 운동기능회복과 심전도 및 Troponin I 에 미치는 영향)

  • Purpose : The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of motor function recovery and change of the heart function factors(ECG & Troponin I) with ischemic stroke patients by different amounts(times) exercise. Methods : Forty-six consecutive chronic hemiparetic patients with cerebral infarct were randomly assigned to two groups: Group 1 (exercise time 60 minutes/day) and Group 2 (exercise time 120 minutes/day). Types of exercise included static bicycle, isokinetic exercise, and standing or gait exercise on a treadmill. Outcome measures included the level of motor recovery (Fugl-Meyer Scale, FMS) and heart function (ECG and Troponin I), and measurements were performed three times: pre-test, 8 weeks and 12 weeks. Results : There was a significantly different change of motor function recovery and ECG between two groups during treatment period. Especially there were significantly change period of pre-test to 8 weeks on ECG and pre-test to 12 weeks on motor function recovery. But Troponin I has no significantly different change between two groups during treatment period. Also there was no significantly different change of motor function recovery and ECG and Troponin I with between two groups during treatment period. Conclusion : The exercise program improved motor function and change ECG without Troponin I in two groups. The result of this study shows that no matter how different amounts of exercise to effect of motor function recovery and heart function test in chronic patients with cerebral infarct.

Development of Tight-fitting Upper Clothing for Measuring ECG -A Focus on Weft Reduction Rate and Subjective Assessment- (심전도 측정을 위한 밀착 의복 연구 -패턴 축소 및 주관적 평가를 중심으로-)

  • This study develops tight-fitting upper clothing to measure electrocardiography (ECG) data. Taking into consideration the elasticity of the clothing, we made 4 experimental clothes by applying to each a weft reduction rate of 40%, 50%, 60%, and 70%. The 4 experimental clothes were used to measure resting ECG, exercise ECG, and post-exercise ECG for 4 men in their 20s. We compared clothing pressures using sensors on the human body and on a dressform. Subjective wear sensations of the 4 experimental clothes were evaluated using a subjective 7-point scale (with 7 being most excellent). We measured clothing pressures by using the air type pressure (AMI 3037-2) for upper and lower chest sensors in the developed tight-fitting upper clothing. The lower chest sensor showed that the clothing pressure on a human body and dressform changed consistently as the weft reduction rate decreased. The upper chest sensor showed inconsistent changes in clothing pressure as the weft reduction rate decreased. The wearing-test result for preliminary subjects showed that the lower chest sensor was more stable than the upper chest sensor; therefore, we inserted the sensor at the lower chest position before performing ECG. Except for Subject 4, the resting ECGs were stably measured for 3 subjects (Subject 1, Subject 2, and Subject 3) in all the developed clothes (A clothing, B clothing, C clothing, and D clothing). However, D clothing showed stable ECG values after exercise. The results of the experiment showed that we could measure ECG without difficulty using clothes with a weft reduction rate of 40% when the movement was not intense; however, tight-fitting upper clothing with a weft reduction rate of 70% was necessary to measure exercise ECG and post-exercise ECG values.

  • Heart rate is one of the most important signal to monitor the health condition of the patient or exerciser. Various wearable devices have been developed for the continuous monitoring of ECG signal from human body during exercise. Among these, ECG chest belt has been widely used. However wearing chest belt with ECG sensor is uncomfortable in normal life due to the electrode contact between metal electrodes of ECG sensor and skin of the human body. So we develop the royal healthcare backpack that can measure ECG signal without skin contact by using capacitor-type ECG sensor. The position of the measurement point is critical to collect a clear ECG signal in the capacitive ECG measurement from backpack. Various tests were conducted to find the optimal ECG measurement position which has less noise and could get strong and clear ECG signal during exercise, walking, hiking, mountain climbing and cycling.

  • This paper presents a frequency modulated radio-telemetry, transmitter for monitoring and transmitting an exercise electrocardiogram (ECG) and respiration activity simultaneously on single carrier frequency in the standard FM broadcast band of 88-108 MHz. We have evaluated the performance of the FM telemetry transmitter which is proposed on the basis of an exercise ECG test in the treadmill.

  • A motion-based sports game uses a motion sensor or a camera to exercise based on body movements, and it is possible to obtain exercise effects such as improving physical strength while enjoying the game. In prior works, various studies such as usability evaluation has been conducted on motion-based sports games. However, there has been no discussion about how the exercise effect is exerted on users when experiencing motion-based sports games as individual or team play. This study compared the user's exercise effects by analyzing the user's ECG (Electrocardiogram) sensor and the Kinect sensor's skeletal information using Nintendo Switch game that is played individually and as a team. In this paper, the experimental design and method, the quantitative measurement results based on ECG and Kinect, and the results of the post-test subjective measurement are discussed.

  • In this research we would like to develop an exercise ECG signal analysis algorithm using the wavelet transform, which is possible to analyze the time and the frequency simultaneously. Wavelet transform has an advantage of dividing the nonstationary signals into the high frequency and low frequency band successively. Thus, it can separates the unnecessary noises from the frequency band of QRS complex and then using the selected frequency band we could detect the QRS complex and ST segment.

  • The Microsoft Kinect is a motion sensing input device which is widely used for many motion recognition applications such as fitness, sports, and rehabilitation. Until now, most of remote rehabilitation systems with the Microsoft Kinect have allowed the user or patient to do rehabilitation or fitness by following the motion of a video screen. However in this paper we propose a smart remote rehabilitation system with the Microsoft Kinect motion sensor and a wearable ECG sensor which can allow patients to offer monitoring of the individual's performance and personalized feedback on rehabilitation exercises. The proposed noble smart remote rehabilitation is able to monitor and measure the state of the patient's condition during rehabilitation exercise, and transmits it to the prescriber. This system can give feedback to a prescriber, a doctor and a patient for improving and recovering motor performance. Thus, the efficient rehabilitation training service can be provided to patient in response to changes of patient's condition during exercise.

Cost-effectiveness of Myocardial Perfusion SPECT for Diagnosis of Coronary Artery Disease in Korea: Comparison with Exercise ECG and Coronary Angiography (우리 나라에서 관동맥질환을 진단하는 약물부하 심근관류 SPECT의 비용효과 성능: 운동부하심전도와 관동맥조영술과 비교)

  • Purpose: Cost-effectiveness of myocardial SPECT for the diagnosis of coronary artery disease was investigated considering the present and amended costs of myocardial SPECT and exercise ECG in Korea. Materials and Methods: Four diagnostic tactics such as 1) coronary angiography (CAG) after exercise ECG, 2) CAG after myocardial SPECT, 3) direct CAG, and 4) CAG after myocardial SPECT following exercise ECG were chosen. Costs were calculated using the present costs of various tests and effects represented by Quality Adjusted Life Year (QALY) were estimated. Difference of QALY (${\Delta}QALY$) was calculated by subtracting QALY of diagnosed/treated cases from QALY of undiagnosed cases. $Cost/{\Delta}QALY$ was calculated and compared between four different tactics according to pre-test probability. Results: When pre-test probability was equal to or larger than 0.6, direct CAG was the most cost-effective. When pre-test probability was between 0.2 and 0.6, CAG after myocardial SPECT following exercise ECG was the most cost-effective. CAG after myocardial SPECT was the second most cost-effective. Cost-effectiveness was similar when the costs of exercise ECG were doubled or quadrupled. CAG after exercise ECG was always the least cost-effective. Conclusion: Myocardial SPECT with or without preceding exercise ECG was the most cost-effective method to diagnose coronary artery disease in the present or expected amended cost system.

  • In ubiquitous computing environment the biological signal ECG (Electrocardiogram signal) is usually recorded with noise components. Adaptive interference (or noise) canceller do adaptive filtering of the noise reference input to maximally match and subtract out noise or interference from the primary (signal plus noise) input thereby adaptively eliminate unwanted interference from the ECG signal. Measured Stress ECG (or exercise ECG signal) signal have three major noisy component like baseline wander noise, motion artifact noise and EMG (Electro-mayo-cardiogram) noise. These noises are not only distorted signal but also root of incorrect diagnosis while ECG data are analyzed. Motion artifact and EMG noises behave like wide band spectrum signals, and they considerably do overlapping with the ECG spectrum. Here the multidimensional adaptive method used for filtering which is more effective to improve signal to noise ratio.
