For applications such as video surveillance and human computer interface, we propose an efficiently integrated method to detect and track faces. Various visual cues are combined to the algorithm: motion, skin color, global appearance and facial pattern detection. The ICA (Independent Component Analysis)-SVM (Support Vector Machine based pattern detection is performed on the candidate region extracted by motion, color and global appearance information. Simultaneous execution of detection and short-term tracking also increases the rate and accuracy of detection. Experimental results show that our detection rate is 91% with very few false alarms running at about 4 frames per second for 640 by 480 pixel images on a Pentium IV 1㎓.
Recently, the needs for effective real time change detection algorithms for XML/HTML documents and increased in such fields as the detection of defacement attacks to web documents, the version management, and so on. Especially, those applications of real time change detection for large number of XML/HTML documents require fast heuristic algorithms to be used in real time environment, instead of algorithms which compute minimal cost-edit scripts. Existing heuristic algorithms are fast in execution time, but do not provide satisfactory edit script. In this paper, we present existing algorithms XyDiff and X-tree Diff, analyze their problems and propose algorithm X-tree Diff which improve problems in existing ones. X-tree Diff+ has similar performance in execution time with existing algorithms, but it improves matching ratio between nodes from two documents by refining matching process based on the notion of efficiency of matching.

In this paper, we propose an efficient parallel implementation method of a widely used complex four-stage fire detection algorithm using a graphics processing unit (GPU) to improve the performance of the algorithm and analyze the performance of the parallel implementation method. In addition, we use seven different resolution videos (QVGA, VGA, SVGA, XGA, SXGA+, UXGA, QXGA) as inputs of the four-stage fire detection algorithm. Moreover, we compare the performance of the GPU-based approach with that of the CPU implementation for each different resolution video. Experimental results using five different fire videos with seven different resolutions indicate that the execution time of the proposed GPU implementation outperforms that of the CPU implementation in terms of execution time and takes a 25.11ms per frame for the UXGA resolution video, satisfying real-time processing (30 frames per second, 30fps) of the fire detection algorithm.

Triple modular redundancy (TMR) systems can continue their mission by virtue of their structural redundancy even if one processor is attacked by faults. In this paper, we propose a new fault tolerance strategy by introducing checkpoints into the TMR system in which data saving and fault detection processes are separated while they corporate together in the conventional checkpoints. Faults in one processor are tolerated by synchronizing the state of three processors upon detecting faults. Simultaneous faults occurring to more than one processor are tolerated by re-executing the task from the latest checkpoint. We propose the checkpoint placement and fault detection strategy to maximize the probability of successful execution of a task within the given deadline. We develop the Markov chain model for the TMR system having the proposed checkpoint strategy, and derive the optimal fault detection and checkpoint interval.

In recent years, new and variant hacking of binary codes has increased, and the limitations of techniques for detecting malicious codes in source programs and defending against attacks are often exposed. Advanced software security vulnerability detection technology using machine learning and deep learning technology for binary code and defense and response capabilities against attacks are required. In this paper, we propose a malware clustering method that groups malware based on the characteristics of the taint information after entering dynamic taint information by tracing the execution path of binary code. Malware vulnerability detection was applied to a three-layered Few-shot learning model, and F1-scores were calculated for each layer's CPU and GPU. We obtained 97~98% performance in the learning process and 80~81% detection performance in the test process.
This paper presents a highly fast and accurate facial region extraction method by using the skin-color-reference map and motion information. First, we construct the robust skin-color-reference map and eliminate the background in image by this map. Additionally, we use the motion information for accurate and fast detection of facial region in image sequences. Then we further apply region growing in the remaining areas with the aid of proposed criteria. The simulation results show the improvement in execution time and accurate detection.
This paper discusses the method of moving object detection for biped robot walking. Most researches on vision based object detection have mostly focused on fixed camera based algorithm itself. However, developing vision systems for biped walking robot is an important and urgent issue since hired walking robots are ultimately developed not only for researches but to be utilized in real life. In the research, method for moving object detection has been developed for task assignment and execution of biped robot as well as for human robot interaction (HRI) system. But these methods are not suitable to biped walking robot. So, we suggest the advanced method which is suitable to biped walking robot platform. For carrying out certain tasks, an object detecting system using modified optical flow algorithm by wireless vision camera is implemented in a biped walking robot.

In this paper, we introduce three monitoring filtering techniques which reduce the overheads of dynamic data race detection. It is well known that detecting data races dynamically in multi-threaded programs is quite hard and troublesome task, because the dynamic detection techniques need to monitor all execution of a multi-threaded program and to analyse every conflicting memory and thread operations in the program. Thus, the main drawback of the dynamic analysis for detecting data races is the heavy additional time and space overheads for running the program. For the practicality, we also empirically compare the efficiency of three monitoring filtering techniques. The results using OpenMP benchmarks show that the filtering techniques are practical for dynamic data race detection, since they reduce the average runtime overhead to under 10% of that of the pure detection.
It is important to detect races for debugging shared-memoy parallel programs, because the races cause unintended nondeterministic program execution. Previous on-the-fly techniques to detect races can not guarantee the first race detection in nested parallel programs. Detecting the first race is important for debugging parallel programs, since the removal of the first race may make the next occurred races disappear. In this paper, we presents an on-the-fly detection technique to detect all of the first races through the reexecution of the debugged programs. We assume that the debugged parallel program may have one-way nested parallel programs. The number of reexecution is at the least the nesting depth of the program in the worst case. The space complexity is O(VT) and the time complexity to detect race in each access of access history is O(T), where V is number of shared variables and T is the maximum parallelism of the program. This efficiency of our technique in each execution is the same with the previous on-the-fly detection techniques. Therefore, this technique makes debugging parallel programs more effective and practical.

FLUSH+RELOAD attack exposes the most serious security threat among cache side channel attacks due to its high resolution and low noise. This attack is exploited by a variety of malicious programs that attempt to leak sensitive information. In order to prevent such information leakage, it is necessary to detect FLUSH+RELOAD attack in real time. In this paper, we propose a novel run-time detection technique for FLUSH+RELOAD attack by utilizing PCM (Performance Counter Monitor) of processors. For this, we conducted four kinds of experiments to observe the variation of each counter value of PCM during the execution of the attack. As a result, we found that it is possible to detect the attack by exploiting three kinds of important factors. Then, we constructed a detection algorithm based on the experimental results. Our algorithm utilizes machine learning techniques including a logistic regression and ANN(Artificial Neural Network) to learn from different execution environments. Evaluation shows that the algorithm successfully detects all kinds of attacks with relatively low false rate.
