In this study, the effects of change in ambient gas viscosity on spray structure have been investigated in the high temperature and pressure field. To analyze the structure of evaporative diesel spray is important in speculation of mixture formation process. Emissions of diesel engines can be reduced by the control of the mixture formation process. Therefore, this study examines the evaporating spray structure in the constant volume chamber. The viscosity of ambient gas was selected as the experimental parameter, is changed from 21.7 mPa s to 32.1 mPa s by changing in ambient gas temperature. In order to obtain images of the liquid and vapor-phase of injected spray, exciplex fluorescence method was used in this study. The liquid and vapor-phase images were taken with 35mm still camera and CCD camera, respectively. Consequentially, it could be confirmed that the distribution of vapor concentration is more uniform in the case of the ambient gas with high viscosity than in that of the ambient gas with low viscosity.
Irradiation of 5-styryl-1,3-dimethyluracil (5-SDU) with 2,3-dimethyl-2-butene (DMB) gives a [4+2] cycloadduct which is converted into a [2+2] cycloadduct on the prolonged irradiation. Triplet sensitization, quenching, and external heavy atom effect on the [4+2] photocycloaddition reaction demonstrate the singlet pathway and salt effect excludes a radical ion pair precursor possibility. Polar solvents increase the reaction efficiency implying a polar exciplex involvement in the [4+2] photocycloaddition reaction. Inverse temperature dependence both on the reaction and DMB fluorescence quenching of 5-SDU indicates the presence of a singlet exciplex intermediate.
The TADF (Thermally Activated Delayed Fluorescence)-based OLED patents were analyzed and 4410 of patents were selected at the first step. And 975 patents were screened at second step. Finally, 39 key patents were selected. Patent qualitative analysis was performed in these patents to find which of the four property (lifetime, efficiency, color purity, driving voltage) of TADF was improved. Also, the variation of the hosts and dopants in patented TADF material were surveyed and their combination was analyzed. According to the analysis of the variation and the combination, some of TADF compounds were used as an assistant dopant to transfer energy. In addition, it tended to transfer energy by forming exciplex that shows TADF characteristics. These were similar to the mechanism of the introduced hyper fluorescence and could solve the inherent TADF problems. Finally, patent citation network was illustrated to visualize the patent citations and citations relationship of the major applicants in the current TADF-based OLED technology. The leading patent applicant organization was revealed as Idemitsu Kosan, Semiconductor Energy Laboratory, UDC, Princeton University, Merck and Nippon Steel & Sumikin Chemical, which had lots of reference patents 559, 524, 477, 310, 258, and 167, respectively.
The objective of this study is to investigate the average droplet size distributions of a GDI spray by simultaneous fluorescence/scattering image technique. GDI engine is recently very popular because of high engine efficiency and low emissions. However, the injectors must have good spray characteristics because the fuel is directly injected into the cylinder. The fuel mixtures used in this study were 2% of fluorobenzene, 9% of DEMA(diethyl-methyl-amine) and 89% of hexane by volume. The system for obtaining 2-D fluorescence/scattering images of fuel spray was constituted of a laser sheet, a doubling prism, optical filters, and an ICCD camera. Using the ratio of the fluorescence to the scattering intensities, SMD distributions were obtained. SMD measured by the technique was compared with that obtained by PDA. It was found that average droplet size was bigger at spray center in the early stage of injection and at the outer periphery of the spray in the late stage of injection.
디젤기관에서 배출되는 유해배출성분인 NOx(Nitrogen oxides)와 PM(Particulate matter)은 기관 실린더내의 혼합기 분포에 의해 그 생성이 지배된다.
The spray structures and distribution characteristics of liquid and vapor phases in non-evaporating and evaporating Gasoline Direct Injection (GDI) fuel sprays were investigated using Laser Induced Exciplex Fluorescence (LIEF) technique. Dopants were 2% fluorobenzene and 9% DEMA (diethyl-methyl-amine) in 89% solution of hexane by volume. In order to study internal structure of the spray, droplet size and velocity under non-evaporating condition were measured by Phase Doppler Anemometry (PDA). Liquid and vapor phases were visualized at different moments after the start of injection. Experimental results showed that the spray could be divided into two regions by the fluorescence intensity of liquid phase: cone and mixing regions. Moreover, vortex flow of vapor phase was found in the mixing region. About 5㎛ diameter droplets were mostly distributed in the vortex flow region. Higher concentration of vapor phase due to vaporization of these droplets was distributed in this region. Particularly, higher concentration of vapor phase and lower one were balanced within the measurement area at 2ms after the start of injection.
The effects of the wall geometry on the spray-wall impingement process of a hollow-cone fuel spray emerging from a high-pressure swirl injector of the Gasoline Direct Injection (GDI) engine were investigated by means of a numerical method. The ized Instability Sheet Atomization (LISA) & Aerodynamically Progressed Taylor Analogy Breakup (APTAB) model for spray atomization process and the Gosman model were applied to model the atomization and wall impingement process of the spray. The calculation results of spray characteristics, such as a spray development process and a radial distance after wall impingement, compared with the experimental ones by the Laser Induced Exciplex Fluorescence (LIEF) technique. It was found that the radial distance of the cavity angle of 90$^{circ]$ after wall impingement was the shortest and the ring shaped vortex was generated near the wall after spray-wall impingement process.
The purpose of this study is to improve the prediction ability of the atomization and vaporization processes of GDI spray under high-pressure and high-temperature conditions. Several models have been introduced and compared. The atomization process was modeled using hybrid breakup model that is composed of Conical Sheet Disintegration (CSD) model and Aerodynamically Progressed TAB(APTAB) model. The vaporization process was modeled using Spalding model, modified Spalding model and Abramzon & Sirignano model. Exciplex fluorescence method was used for comparing the calculated with the experimental results. The experiment and calculation were performed at the ambient pressure of 0.5 MPa and 1.0 MPa and the ambient temperature of 473k. Comparison of caldulated and experimental spray characteristics was carried out and Abramzon & Sirignano model and modified Spalding model had the better prediction ability for vaporization process than Spalding model.
The focus of this work is placed on the analysis of the mixture formation process under the evaporative diesel-free spray conditions. In order to examine homogeneity of mixture within the vapor phase region of the injected spray, image analysis was carried out based on the entropy of statistical thermodynamics. As an experimental parameter, the injection pressure and ambient gas density were selected, and effects of the injection pressure and density variation of ambient gas on the mixture formation process in the evaporative diesel spray were investigated. In the case of application of the thermodynamic entropy analysis to evaporative diesel spray, the value of the dimensionless entropy always increases with increase in time from injection start. Consequently, the dimensionless entropy in the case of the higher injection pressure is higher than that of lower injection pressure during initial injection period.
