  • The major drawback of cement-retained restorations is the extrusion of the excess cement into the peri-implant sulcus, with subsequent complications. Insufficient removal of the excess cement may initiate a local inflammatory process, which may lead to implant failure. This article presents a method of controlling cement flow on implant abutments, minimizing the excess cement around implant-retained restorations.

  • The solubility of caffeine in compressed carbon dioxide has been measured to determine its fugacity coefficient between 330 and 410 K up to 500 bar. The result allows the calculation of the thermodynamic excess functions such as the molar excess enthalpy, the molar excess free energy, and the molar excess entropy. The pressure variations of the molar excess functions of caffeine in the caffeine-CO2 mixture were discussed and also compared them with those in the caffeine-NH3 mixture.

  • We propose a simple identification scheme for the causes of the violations of uncovered interest parity. Our method uses the serial dependence patterns of excess returns as a criterion for judging performance of economic models. We show that a mean reverting component in excess returns, representing a violation of uncovered interest parity, mainly contributes to generating different serial dependence patterns of excess returns: rational expectations risk premium models tend to generate negative serial dependence of excess returns, while expectational errors models tend to generate positive serial dependence.

  • The densities and viscosities of 2-bromopropane-methanol binary mixtures had been determined using an digital vibrating U-tube densimeter and Ubbelohde capillary viscometer respectively from (298.15 to 318.15) K. The dependence of densities and viscosities on temperature and concentration had been correlated. The excess molar volume and the excess viscosity of the binary system were calculated from the experimental density and viscosity data. The excess molar volumes were related to compositions by polynomial regression and regression parameters and total RMSD deviations were obtained; the excess viscosities was related to compositions by Redlich-Kister equation and regression coefficients and total RMSD deviation of the excess viscosity for 2-bromopropane and methanol binary system were obtained. The results showed that the model agreed very well with the experimental data.

  • The effect of fat supplementation of high calcium (Ca) diets on the performance, intestinal pH, body composition and size and weight of organs in growing chickens were investigated in two experiments. Growing chickens tolerated a high dietary level of Ca (22.5 vs 12.1 g/kg) in the presence of 6.3 g/kg of available phosphorus without any significant effect on performance. Intestinal pH was significantly increased by the addition of excess Ca and fat which probably created the right pH for the formation of insoluble Ca soaps. Excess dietary Ca increased carcass linoleic acid concentration at the expense of palmitic and stearic acid contents, whilst the addition of sunflower oil (80 g/kg diet) to the diet increased carcass linoleic acid concentration at the expense of palmitic acid content of the carcass. Intestinal and visceral organ size and weight were not influenced by excess Ca or fat. However, there was a non significant increase in the intestinal dry weight per unit of length caused by excess dietary Ca. It was concluded that excess dietary Ca of 22.5 g/kg did not significantly influence the performance of meat chickens. However, excess Ca increased intestinal pH and altered carcass fatty acid composition. Fat supplementation did not alter intestinal pH with high Ca diets. Excess dietary fat altered carcass fatty acid composition and reduced protein content. Intestinal and visceral organ size and weights were not influenced by excess dietary levels of Ca of fat.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of mechanical(ball-mill) solubilization of excess sludge especially focused on the TSS(total suspended solid) reduction during the conventional aerobic digestion of sewage sludges including primary and/or excess sludge, HRT was examined at the 10 days and 20 days. According to the results of this study, TSS removal efficiency of solubilized excess sludge was almost two times higher than that of non-solubilized excess sludge. And as the proportion of the primary sludge increased, TSS removal efficiency became worse because primary sludge rarely contained microbial cells which could be easily solubilized physically. It was also proved that by the application of proper solubilization techniques to the excess sludge, HRT for the aerobic digestion could be lessened(above 50%) dramatically keeping the same or better digestion performance. The fact that between primary and excess sludges, only the excess sludge is quite effective in the sludge solubilization and in it's reduction says that excess sludge releasing sources are key-point in the sludge cake reduction field as a source control.

  • Objective: The aim of this study is to analyze an excess trend for domestic permissible exposure limit of trichloroethylene based on previous literature review. Materials and Methods: The research object is a trichloroethylene among 13 chemical substances regulated with PEL(Permissible Exposure Limit) in Occupational Safety and Health Act. The information utilized from this study is the work environment measurement data from 2004 to 2013. The highest level among concentration data measured at various workplaces was selected as a representative value through data process. N.D. (Not Detected) data was considered as 1/2 of LOD(Limit Of Detection). Results: Among work environment measurement data between 2004 and 2013, the highest number of excess workplace and excess rate(24 sites & 1.15%) was observed in 2008's data when applying the PEL(50 ppm) of trichloroethylene. When they are compared with the ACGIH's TLV-TWA(10 ppm), 2008's data showed the highest number of excess workplace and excess rate(175 sites & 8.37%). The number of excess workplace and excess rate related to PEL of trichloroethylene showed increase trend in 2005 but tended to decrease after 2008. Conclusions: Based on the results obtained from this study, the exposure level of trichloroethylene in case of domestic workers is not considered as a safe phase regardless of the year of work environment measurement year. Thus, a strictly preventive management in workplace should be provided for reducing exposure level of trichloroethylene.

  • Considering the opinions of annotators, the remedy about excess of east and deficiency of west from "the seventy-fifth question" can be arranged as follows. "The seventy-fifth question", with "the sixty-ninth question", explains excess and deficiency of mother and son. Abatement of fire and invigoration of water[瀉火補水] in the excess of wood and deficiency of metal[木實金虛] presents a remedy, which has been applied in herbs and medicine application henceforth. "The seventy-fifth question" is a unique theory from " Nan-gyeong(難經)", and does not continue the theory of "Hwangjenaegyeong(黃帝內經)". "The seventy-fifth question" mentions the relationship of excess and deficiency of the five elements and five viscera, but does not mention excess and deficiency of invigoration and abatement of the meridian. Remedy from abatement of fire and invigoration of water[瀉火補水] in the excess of wood and deficiency of metal[木實金虛] is an abnormal, temporary and extraordinary method. This remedy is applied in Saam acupuncture[舍巖鍼] as A-variation form. The process where Son allows excess of mother[子能令母實] and mother allows deficiency of son[母能令子虛] in the abatement of fire and invigoration of water[瀉火補水] is a mechanism, not a remedy. Generation after generation, medical practitioners can be classified into those that claimed abatement of fire and invigoration of water[瀉火補水] because of the relation with excess of liver and deficiency of lung[肝實肺虛], abatement of heart(瀉心) due to the excess of liver(肝實), or invigoration of Eum and abatement of Yang[補陰瀉陽].

  • This study observed the meterological influence on the excess attenuation with various flow resistivities. The flow resistivity is simulated up to 30, 000 cgs rayls. There is no significant differences among results from spherical wave analysis for excess attenuation, from plane wave analysis, and from locally reacting analysis. This is validated only when the flow resistivity is more than 100 cgs rayls. For the determination of effective flow resistivity of ground by measuring the excess attenuation experimentally, it is highly recommended that the distance between source and receiver is about 2.5m, and that the height of them is 0.3-0.4 m in case that they have the same height. Under this proposed conditions, the flow resistivity of 6-month-passed asphalt ground is estimated to 5, 000 cgs rayls by comparing the measured excess attenuation with the calculated.
