In this paper we propose an analytical model for jitter, wherein we implement the interrupted Poisson process (IPP) for incoming traffic. First, we obtain an analytical model for the jitter on one node with respect to the phase probabilities, traffic load, and tagged traffic share in the aggregate traffic flow. Then, we analyze N-node cases, and propose a model for end-to-end jitter. Our analysis leads to some fast-to-compute approximations that can be used for future network design or admission control. Finally, we validate our analytical results by comparing them with previous results for limit cases, as well as with event-driven simulations. We propose the use of our results as guidelines for jitter evaluation of real IP traffic.

The paper introduces major technical specifications of the Line II railway simulators of Pusan City in Korea. Comparing design specifics of the railway simulators with of the light aircraft Flight Training Device(FTD, the paper reveals commonality of implementation technologies applied to both simulators: Overall configurations and design philosophies are basically the same. In both programs VMEbus computing systems with UNIX are adapted as backbones of the simulators. It is found that the railway simulators are less stringent in real-time requirements than the aircraft FTD, and the railway simulators are designed to be more event-driven and object-oriented. The experiences show that models may be diverse depending on the objects but implementation technologies are about the same. Maximizing portability of implementation technologies is a matter of an organizations strategy of adopting standardized processes and modular technologies available and most economic to them.

This paper presents the general system theory and its applications to the safety analysis method that is a recent trend over the traditional event-driven model. This new model is known as STAMP(Systems Theory Accident Modeling and Process) proposed by Nancy G. Leveson in MIT. The new model has benefits o f systemic approaches concerning the system safety as a whole including the context it is in, its stimulants and outcomes, and its parts as well as the relationships among them in a holistic manner. The method consists of a hierarchical control structure, a process model, and the safety constraints governing the control. This paper demonstrates an example that contrasts the differences between the approaches of STAMP and the traditional safety models.

Because of explosive growth in demand for web-based multimedia applications, proper proxy caching for large multimedia object (especially video) has become needed. For a video object which is much larger in size and has different access characteristics than the traditional web object such as image and text, caching the whole video file as a single web object is not efficient for the proxy cache. In this paper, we propose a proxy caching strategy with the constant-sized segment for video file and an improved proxy cache replacement policy. Through the event-driven simulation under various conditions, we show that our proposal is more efficient than the variable-sized segment strategy which has been proven to have higher hit ratio than other traditional proxy cache strategies.

Driven by the explosive expansion and acceptance of the Internet and its multimedia front-end, the Web, a new generation of the modeling and simulation tools have come up with the name of Web-Based Simulation (WBS). Most of WBS libraries inherit its powerful advantages from Java. However, there are cases where explicit specification of models or interface objects is more desirable than the black-box programs. This paper presents an XML-based DEVS (Discrete Event System Specification) markup language for sharing simulation models on the Web. DEVS provides a system-theoretic formalism for the language while XML supports platform-independent data access. This paper focuses on the design of such a language.

The DSP silicon compiler consists of language compiler, module generator, placement tool, router, layout generation tools, and simulator. In this paper, The language compiler, the module generator, placement tool, and simulator were developed and provided for the system designer. The language compiler translates the designer's system description language into the intermediate form file. The intermediate form file expresses the interconnections and specifications of the cells in the cell library. The simulator was developed and provided for the behavioral verification of the DSP system. For its implementation, the event-driven technique and the C$^{++}$ task library was used. The module generator was developed for the layout of the verified DSP system, and generates the functional block to be used in the DSP chip. And then the placement tool determines the appropriate positions of the cells in the DSP chip. In this paper, the placement tool was implemented by Min-Cut and Simulated Annealing algorithm. The placement process can be controlled by the several conditions input by the system designer.

A new method for creating a logical data model is proposed. The logical data model developed by the method defines table, primary key, foreign key, and fields. The framework of the logical data model is constructed by modeling the relationships between events and their related entity types. The proposed method consists of a series of objective and quantitative decisions such as maximum cardinality of relationships and functional dependency between the primary key and attributes. Even beginners to database design can use the methology as long as they understand such basic concepts about relational databases as primary key, foreign key, relationship cardinality, parent-child relationship, and functional dependency. The simple and systematic approach minimizes decision errors made by a database designer. In practial database design the method creates a logical data model in Boyce-Codd normal form unless the user of the method makes a critical decision error, which is very unlikely.

본 논문에서는 애플리케이션이 하드웨어에 영향을 받지 않고 실행될 수 있게 한 환경을 의미하는 VM(Virtual Machine)과 SKT에서 채택한 플랫폼인 GVM의 기술내용을 조명하고, GVM을 기반으로 한 포트리스 모바일 게임을 개발하였다. 게임은 모바일 C로 구현하였으며, 모바일 C의 특징인 Event Driven방식 게임의 실행과정을 flowchart로 나타냈다.

A dangerous event occurred at the field industry and mechanical system. At developed by SUNGGOKNANOTECH corp. a R-L clutches of a small and high capacity serves safety device from a variety environment of mechanical system, it permits transmission of driving torque from input to output shaft in both directions of rotation, but restrains any feedback torque of the driven load from rotating the output shaft in either direction. This study was carried out to demonstrate through finite element method and durability estimation for safety of the R-L clutches without sliding during the engagement process. As results, we organized about endurance test method when applied rated torque.

This paper claims that beneficiary adjuncts are best analyzed as involving external predication in a version of grammatical framework called Head-driven Phrase Structure Grammar. This paper also claims that verbal catefories need to include the attribute INDEX among their semantic components in order to account for the external predication proposed in this paper. This paper distinguishes between recipient and beneficiary reles and assumes that the former is a semantic argument of a verb-type relation and that the latter is an adjunct which makes a semantic contribution as a modifier. This approach achives a unified analysis of modification phenomena of nominal and verbal categories and it can also accomodate Parson's(1990) idea that a verbal category denotes a set of events, not just an event.
