User Identification and Entrance/Exit Detection System for Smart Home (지능형 홈을 위한 사용자 식별 및 출입 감지 시스템)

  • This paper presents a sensing system for smart home which can detect an location transition events such as entrance/exit of a member and identify the user in a group at the same time. The proposed system is compose of two sub-systems; a wireless sensor network system and a database server system. The wireless sensing system is designed as a star network where each of sensing modules with ultrasonic sensors and a Bluetooth RF module connect to a central receiver called Bluetooth access point. We propose a method to discriminate a user by measuring the height of the user. The differences in the height of users is a key feature for discrimination. At the same time, the each sensing module can recognize whether the user goes into or out a room by using two ultrasonic sensors. The server subsystem is a sort of data logging system which read the detected event from the access point and then write it into a database system. The database system could provide the location transition information to wide range of context-aware applications for smart home easily and conveniently. We evaluate the developed method with experiments for three subjects in a family with the installation of the developed system into a real house.

  • For the integration test in the current field of defense simulation, each actual equipment and simulator's logging information is automated. Although the event of the integrated test system is written in the test log, it is not automated, and relies on the operator's handwriting or file creation, resulting in ineffective aspects such as low-quality record content and repetition of the same content. In this study, we propose the automatic test report recording program that solves these problems. Automatic test report recording program uses framework-based technology to receive information from the test control computer and user to record a log of the test log. Automatic test report recording program allows the user to record the repeated test content in a stable manner. Additionally, even if the number of test operators is limited, the efficiency is improved so that we can fucus on the integration test.

Software Formal Verification Methodology using Aspect DEVS Verification Framework (Aspect DEVS 검증 틀을 이용한 소프트웨어 정형 검증 방법론)

  • Software is getting more complex due to a variety of requirements that include desired functions and properties. Therefore, verifying and testing the software are complicated problems. Moreover, if the software is already implemented, inserting and deleting tracing/logging code into the source code may cause several problems, such as the code tangling and the code scattering problems. This paper proposes the Aspect DEVS Verification Framework which supports the verification and testing process. The Aspect DEVS Verification Framework utilizes Aspect Oriented Programming features to handle the code tangling and the code scattering problems. By applying aspect oriented features, a user can find and fix the inconsistency between requirement and implementation of a software without suffering the problems. The first step of the verification process is the building aspect code to make a software act as a generator. The second step is developing a requirement specification using DEVS diagrams and implementing it using the DEVSIM++. The final step is comparing the event traces from the software with the possible execution sequences from DEVS model.

  • ERP supports the automation and integration of business processes of enterprises and records voluminous data about the business activities of enterprises. The academe and business enterprises are focusing on process mining, which improves the performance of business processes and strengthens compliance. However, these studies focused on analysis of the business process of large companies, which adopts foreign ERP, such as SAP ERP or Oracle ERP. In comparison with foreign ERP, domestic ERP lags behind in terms of logging and managing of event data. Therefore, the application of process mining to domestic ERP is a challenging task. The present study aims to analyze domestic ERP based on process mining to overcome this challenge. This study discusses the lessons learned from a case study in a Korean cosmetics manufacturing company. Our results are expected to strengthen the competitiveness of Korean small and medium-sized enterprises that adopt domestic ERP and realize the outcomes of the large investment of the Korean government on the ERP implementation of enterprises.

The Seismic Hazard Study on Chung-Nam Province using HAZUS (HAZUS를 이용한 충남지역의 지진피해 연구)

  • HAZUS developed by FEMA is applied to estimation on seismic hazard in Chung-Nam Province using basic data on general building, population, and geology of well-logging. Through the investigation on historical and instrumental earthquakes in Korean Peninsula seismic hazard is estimated in Chung-Nam Province in two ways for calculation of acceleration, deterministically and probabilistically. In deterministic method seismic hazard in Chung-Nam Province is estimated by generation of the maximum event that occurs in Hongsung and has magnitude of 6.0. According to the result, Hongsung Gun, Yesan Gun, and Boryung City are the most severe in building damage. The expected number of people who need hospitalization in Hongsung Gun and Yesan Gun due to the earthquake are 1.1 and 0.4, respectively. In probabilistic(return period of 5,000 year) method seismic hazard in Chung-Nam Province is estimated. According to the result, Gongju City is the most severe in building damage. The expected number of people who need hospitalization in Gongju City and Nonsan City due to the earthquake are 0.1 and 0.15, respectively.

The Development of Multi-channel Electrical Conductivity Monitoring System and its Application in the Coastal Aquifer (다채널 전기전도도 모니터링 시스템의 개발과 연안지역 공내수 모니터링에 대한 적용 사례)

  • Particularly in research related to seawater intrusion the change of fluid electrical conductivity is one of major concerns, and effective monitoring can help to optimize a water pumping performance in coastal areas. Special considerations should be given to the mounting of sensors at proper depth during the monitoring design since the vertical distribution of fluid electrical conductivity is sensitive to the characteristics of seawater intrusion zone. This tells us the multi-channel electrical conductivity monitoring is of paramount consequence. It, however, is a rare event when this approach becomes routinely available in that commonly used commercial stand-alone type sensors are very expensive and inadequate for a long term monitoring of electrical conductivity or water level due to their restricted storage and difficulty of real-time control. For this reason, we have developed a real-time monitoring system that could meet these requirements. This system is user friendly, cost-effective, and easy to control measurement parameters - sampling interval, acquisition range, and others. And this devised system has been utilized for the electrical conductivity monitoring in boreholes, Yeonggwang-gun, Korea. Monitoring has been consecutively executed for 24 hours, and the responses of electrical conductivity at some channels have been regularly increased or decreased while pumping up water. It, with well logging data implemented before/after pumping water, verifies that electrical conductivity changes in the specified depths originate from fluid movements through sand layer or permeable fractured rock. Eventually, the multi-channel electrical conductivity monitoring system makes an effective key to secure groundwater resources in coastal areas.
