  • In order to evaluate fatigue endurance for an MTB(mountain bike) frame, FEM(finite element method) analysis was performed. For evaluating the fatigue endurance of the MTB frame, the S-N data for Al-6061 fillet weldment were compared with the stress analysis results through FEM analysis of the frame. Three loading condition, pedalling, horizontal and vertical loading conditions were considered for fatigue endurance evaluation. Horizontal loading(+1200 N) condition was found to be the most severe to the frame. The maximum von Mises stress of the frame under horizontal loading(+1200 N) condition was determined 294 MPa through FEM analysis of the frame. Conclusively, on the basis of fatigue strength of 200 MPa at the number of cycles of 50,000, the MTB frame has an improper safety factor of approximately 0.25, suggesting that this frame needs reinforcement.

  • In this study, we collected the emotion vocabulary novel related to the LED system light emotion and the existing terms through previous research, targeting professionals and KJ method, we selected emotion term of 35 kinds. Targeting this east Foreigner, we compared the emotion evaluation by changing the lighting elements in accordance office, meeting room, lounge, the OA room different behavior patterns. The results, showing the difference between the results of emotion existing research generally derived factors three axes "future, functionality" See, "stability", "activity". As a result of the comparison of the emotion of the East and the West, the Oriental, functional aspects of the LED system light of space office, meeting room, lounge is drawn most, On the other hand, Westerners, come up, stable surface shows the difference in accidentally. Based on these results, the future, and tries to utilized to evaluate the emotion reaction of the illumination elements each Test-Bed actual.

  • This study describes a novel algorithm for optimizing the quality yield of silicon wafer slicing. 12 inch wafer slicing is the most difficult in terms of semiconductor manufacturing yield. As silicon wafer slicing directly impacts production costs, semiconductor manufacturers are especially concerned with increasing and maintaining the yield, as well as identifying why yields decline. The criteria for establishing the proposed algorithm are derived from a literature review and interviews with a group of experts in semiconductor manufacturing. The modified Delphi method is then adopted to analyze those results. The proposed algorithm also incorporates the analytic hierarchy process (AHP) to determine the weights of evaluation. Additionally, the proposed algorithm can select the evaluation outcomes to identify the worst machine of precision. Finally, results of the exponential weighted moving average (EWMA) control chart demonstrate the feasibility of the proposed AHP-based algorithm in effectively selecting the evaluation outcomes and evaluating the precision of the worst performing machines. So, through collect data (the quality and quantity) to judge the result by AHP, it is the key to help the engineer can find out the manufacturing process yield quickly effectively.

  • This study was performed to examine the feasibility of using the low plane of nutrition (LPN) as a means of improving the meat quality of crossbred finishing pigs with a medium weight gain potential. Twenty-four barrows and 24 gilts weighing approximately 48 kg were placed on LPN [a finisher (2.86 Mcal ME/kg and 0.67% lysine) for 91 d] or on a high plane of nutrition [HPN; a commercial grower for 38 d and a finisher (3.35 Mcal ME/kg and 0.9% lysine) for 46 d]. Five barrows and five gilts per treatment weighing approximately 125 kg were slaughtered after the indicated days on the respective diets, followed by physicochemical analysis and sensory evaluation on their muscles. Overall average daily gain was 12.6% less in the LPN group vs. the HPN group (p<0.05). The redness ($a^*$) of fresh longissimus muscle (LM) from the loin as well as from Boston butt was greater in the LPN group vs. HPN whereas the shear force for fresh LM from these primals and semimembranosus muscle was lower in the former. In sensory evaluation for cooked LM, no treatment effect was detected in any of the quality traits examined, except for a lower color score in the LPN vs. HPN group. Results suggest that meat quality of the finishing pigs can be improved to some extent by using LPN. However, the present pigs, whose backfat thickness was 24 mm at 125 kg, are thought not to be lean enough to be fattened over 120 kg.

  • Field evaluation of new scour countermeasure using geobag and aggregate is performed to prepare for the basis of design and construction standard in Korea. Polyester non-woven geotextile is determined as a geobag material and tire cord is used to sew up the geobag which contain aggregate. Hwasang-gyo(bridge) is selected as a pilot test site through office review and field investigation. According to the design flood of Hwasang-gyo(bridge), the size and volume of geobag are calculated and construction area and required number of geobags are computed by considering the specification of the pier and foundation of the bridge. After construction, scour depth around geobag construction area is measured and the stability of geobag is ascertained by using pole and digital camera.

  • Mobile robots with omni-directional wheels can generate instant omni-directional motion without requiring extra space to change the direction of the body. Therefore, they are capable of moving in an arbitrary direction under any orientation even in narrow aisles or tight areas. In this research, an omni-directional mobile robot based on Mecanum wheels was developed to achieve omni-directionality. A CompactRIO embedded real-time controller and C series motion and I/O modules were employed in the control system design. Ultrasonic sensors installed on the front and lateral sides were utilized to measure the distance between the mobile robot and the side wall of a workspace. Through intensive experiments, a performance evaluation of the mobile robot was conducted to confirm its feasibility for industrial purposes. Mobility, omni-directionality, climbing capacity, and tracking performance of a squared trajectory were selected as performance indices to assess the omni-directional mobile robot.

  • Environmental evaluation of two different oxygen high barrier films were performed using life cycle assessment. One of the films (traditional film) was composed of aluminum oxide coated PET film, ink, LDPE and LLDPE. Another film (new film) was consists of PET, ink, protein based coating material, LDPE, LLDPE. Main layer to achieve the high oxygen barrier for traditional film was aluminum oxide coated PET film, whereas the protein based coating material act as oxygen barrier layer for new film. Functional unit of this study was 1000 pouches made of traditional and new film. System boundary was factory to gate. The results of this study revealed that the new film shows better environmental performance for most of impact indicator than traditional film, except marine eutrophication and fine particulate matter formation due to extra coating process in new film system.

  • A grilled-type shrimp flavor was developed through the Maillard reaction to reduce or mask fish odor or off-flavor in seafood. Model systems were created by using enzymatic hydrolysate of shrimp and adding precursors to increase flavor quality and stability. Amino acid precursors such as cysteine and methionine, sugar precursors such as glucose, xylose, ribose, and sucrose, and one particular compound of glucosamine were tried and their flavor qualities were tested by sensory evaluation. Also, the optimum reaction condition was investigated using the pH values of pH 5, 6, 7, and 8 with reaction times of 1 hr, 2 hr and 3 hr after the best precursors were determined. The best condition of the precursors for grilled-type shrimp flavor was the mixtures of methionine, threonine, xylose, and glucosamine. The optimum reaction condition was at pH 8.0 and 2 hr reaction time.

  • The checklist method is one of the oldest and traditional approaches to the evaluation of library collection. A list of items is checked against the library holdings as the percentage of items held is calculated. This paper reports an evaluation of the KISTI's SciTech journal collection with checklist method. The checklist of SciTech Collection has been made by major STM Databases in STN International.
