Emotional Tree Using Sensitivity Image Analysis Algorithm (감성 트리를 이용한 이미지 감성 분석 알고리즘)

  • Image of emotional pleasure or displeasure, tension or emotional division of tranquility in the form of a tree is evaluated by weighting. A Study on Correlation between On-Line Subjective Evaluation and GSR (실시간 주관적 감성 변화와 GSR 반응과의 상관 관계)

  • In this study, an experiment was conducted in order to investigate the feasibility and effectiveness of and on-line subjective assessment (OLSA) system. The present study compared Galvanic Skin Response (GSR) with the OLSA by presenting 28 subjects in their 20s with pictures arousing either positive or negative sensibility. According to the correlation coefficients, changes in subjective sensibility caused by the positive visual stimulus were related more closely to GSR, from the positive visual stimulus, and changes in subjective sensibility caused by the negative visual stimulus were related more closely to GSR from the negative visual stimulus. In conclusion, the most remarkable characteristic of the present system is that it not only assesses the average sensibility when stimuli are presented, but also shows the changing strength of sensibility over time.

Development of Emotion Assessment Scale in Evaluation of Television Picture Quality (TV 화질에 대한 감성평가척도 개발)

  • The article reports findings on: (1) development of emotion assessment scale in evaluating the Television(TV) picture quality; and (2) how psychological and physical factors relate to TV picture quality. A total of 152 adjectives that specifically describe emotional reactions were first selected from a Korean dictionary of adjectives, followed by ratings on their suitability for the evaluation of TV picture quality. The final selection of 19 adjective, based on the reported rating scores greater than 4.1, were used on 126 college students who were asked to perform similarity ratings on the adjectives. Based on factor analyses (i.e., principal component analysis with oblique rotation) on the similarity of scores, the following adjectives were selectively chosen for the development of the new emotion assessment scale: 'neat-messy', 'refreshing-gloomy', 'clean-dirty', 'comfortable-tense', 'smooth-rough', 'bright-dark', 'gorgeous-plain', 'diverse-monotonous', 'satisfying', 'natural', and 'sensuous'. These adjectives composed into two distinct constructs, 'cleanness or smart' factor and 'gorgeousness' factor, which demonstrated sensitivity to changes in brightness, contrast, color, and tint in the TV picture quality, except for changes in sharpness.

  • 본 연구의 목적은 후각 자극에 의한 감성의 변화를 주관적 검사와 동시에 시행한 심전도에서 추출한 HRV parameter와의 상관관계를 보고자 함이다. 후각 자극은 0.6% orange와 2.5% valeric acid를 일정 flow와 일정 농오고 코 점막에 건조를 방지하기 위해 수증기로 포화시킨 향자극기로 주었다. 향의 주관적 검사에서는 오렌지향은 친숙하고 쾌하다고 하였으며 valeric acid경우 불쾌하고 성가시고 친숙하지 않는 감성을 표시하였ㅅ다. 이러한 쾌하고 불쾌한 향자극에 대한 HRV분석결과는 valeric acid에 비해 오렌지향을 제시하였을 때가 HF/LF값이 높은 변화를 보임으로써 부교감신경의 활동이 우세하였음을 확인하였다. 결론적으로 HRV스펙트럼 분석이 감성의 변화를 객관적인 지표로 나타내는데 유용한 정보로서의 가능성을 제시하고자 하였다.

Changes in Communication and Relationship Pattern for Undergraduate Nursing Students After 'Satir Communication Education' (「사티어 의사소통 교육」에 참여한 간호대학생들의 의사소통과 인간관계 변화 경험)

  • Purpose: This study was to deduce the changes of communication style and relationship patterns via self-analysis after Satir communication education for undergraduate nursing students. Methods: Thirty seven students participated in this study. The age of participants was 20 ~ 22 years and all of them were female students. Before the first semester and after the last class in 2011, we collected an evaluation from students of how their own communication style and relationship patterns changed. Using qualitative content analysis method, the data were analyzed. Results: After qualitative contents analysis, five change-related themes and 16 experience-related subjects emerged. Five themes were from self-contentment to discreet, from behavior of speaking and listening to understanding, from agreement to empathy, from your fault to my fault, and from feeling emotion to expressing emotion. Conclusion: From the results of this study, we found the essential points of changes for communication and relation ship experiences after Satir communication education and self-reflection could reinforce change in undergraduate nursing students' experiences.

  • Human emotion is the issue which is subjective, difficult to define and even more difficult to measure because it's personal. In general, the methods for measuring human emotion is divided in two, one is the psychological way based on user's subjective evaluation and another is the physiological way based on physiological signs. However, these methods have some limitations. Therefore, in this study we suggested the methods for measuring users emotion in the natural and accessible environment for the design field. In order to observe user's emotional changes while they interact with a product, we have extracted some emotional words and representative emotions, and made a set of subjective evaluation scales. With these scales, emotion logging program 'VideoTAME' was developed as an effective measurement tool for complementing the current psychological methods. In the testing module of 'VdeoTAME,' participants evaluate their emotional changes through playing and watching the video dips of their performing tasks in the experiment room. In the analyzing module, the researchers replay the results created by participants during the experiment and analyze the results using Microsoft Exel. It is hoped that this study will be of great help for designers for effective measurement of user's emotions naturally expressed while using a product.

  • This study describes a system for human sensibility evaluation using PPG(photoplethysmogram) signal and biofeedback algorithm to respond the bad(negative) mood. For this objective, PPG signals for two emotional states(positive/negative) are collected. To evoke the test emotions, happy(or joyful) and sad(or irritating) movie files are collected and played in subjects' monitor. From the acquired PPG signal, the heart rate variability(HRV) is calculated. Using the HRV and its FFT spectra, the human sensibility is evaluated. Since the heart is a representative organ which is controlled by the autonomic nervous system(ANS), the ANS may reflect the changes in emotion. The biofeedback algorithm is designed with motion image player interacting with the results of the sensibility evaluation. It was shown that HRV was changed according to the subject's emotions. Accordingly, the sensibility evaluation test showed feasibility of the our method.

Substitute Textile Preferences for Eco-Friendly Leather Goods: Focusing on Shoes and Bags

  • In the 21st century, the demand for eco-friendly leather, such as eco-leather and vegan leather, is steadily increasing. This study examines the influence of eco-friendliness on consumers' purchasing intentions and the possibility of eco-friendly changes in the fashion accessory market, which is dominated by leather material and leather substitutes. This study administered a questionnaire survey to 227 males and females between 20 and 60 years of age in Korea. With a 5-point Likert scale, data were collected on evaluation criteria when purchasing shoes and bags and purchasing intention of various leather substitute materials according to the democratic variables. The eco-friendliness attitude was divided into eco-consciousness and green behavior. As the eco-friendly attitude increased, most purchasing standards increased, but the purchasing criteria, such as trends, brands, and prices, did not correlate with the eco-friendly attitude. The eco-consciousness of a consumer had a high correlation with the design evaluation criteria, while the green behavior of the consumer aligned with durability and comfort criteria when purchasing a bag. There was a preference for recycled leather, vegetable leather, synthetic leather, and chemical leather, and the fabric type was ranked as natural fiber, biodegradable fiber, and synthetic fiber. Consumers with both green behavior and eco-consciousness are more likely to purchase biodegradable textiles and vegetable leather for the material of shoes and bags.

A preliminary study for the evaluation of the effects of sex education program on college students (대학생의 성교육 효과측정을 위한 기초 연구)

  • This study was performed to provide preliminary data for the development of a useful instrument to measure the effect of sex education. The study was conducted with the voluntary participation of 155 college students enrolled in the course "Sexuality and Relationship" at Y university in Seoul. At the end of that course, they were asked to write freely about the change they had experienced on sexuality. All meaningful statements were elicited and classified into 7 categories; "Change of Knowledge", "Enlightenment", "Change of Attitude on Sexuality", "Buildup of Ability", "Buildup of. Identity", "Change of Emotion", "Change of Behavior:' There were significant changes in the areas of knowledge(28. 6%), enlightenment(27.4%), and attitudes(20.3%) about sexuality among these 7 categories. The Change of Knowledge category consists of 3 areas: "concretion of knowledge", "increase of information", and "correction of misunderstanding." In the category of Enlightenment, total 12 areas are included: "sex role", "erception of lack of knowledge", "importance of family", "life plan", "parent role", "value of life", "equality", "sexual autonomy", "importance of sexuality", "freedom of sexuality", "perception of sexual problem", and "meaning of love." The Attitude Change category consists of 8 areas. These are "being natural", "being progressive", "being sensitive", "being truthful", "being expressive", "being cautious", "being responsible", and "being confident". The category of Buildup of Ability includes 4 areas: "problem solving", "sex education", "relationship", and "communication". The category of Buildup of Identity includes "sexual identity", and "value of sexuality". The Emotional Change category includes 3 areas: "positive feeling", "negative feeling", and "breaking from negative feeling on sexuality". The Behavior Change category includes "sex-related behavioral change". In conclusion, up to now most researches on sex education effect measures only changes of knowledge, attitude, and behavior. But we believe the changes in "Enlightenment", "Buildup of Ability", "Buildup of Identity", "Change of Emotion", should be included in addition to knowledge, attitude, and behavior in the development of an instrument to measure the sex education effects. And the effect of sex education should measure the degree of learning of autonomy, enlightenment, and ability of behavior and so on rather than studying the simple changes in sexuality.enment", "Buildup of Ability", "Buildup of Identity", "Change of Emotion", should be included in addition to knowledge, attitude, and behavior in the development of an instrument to measure the sex education effects.
