  • Performance Evaluation of end mills for high speed cutting has been performed in a view of dynamic characteristics and noise-vibration under operation. The tools tested in this research consist of three foreign country made and one korean made. In addition, numerical models using finite element method are established, which are confirmed by experimental results. The evaluation results has been feedback for developing high performance end mills fur high speed cutting tools.

  • We studied on the characteristics of many kinds of tank cars carrying hazard materials and performed structural strength evaluation for tank of asphalt tank car using finite element analysis. We analyzed the tank strength according to JIS E 7102(Design Method for Tanks of Tank Cars). It was found that the maximum stress obtained at the area supported by the saddle is much lower than the yield stress and the criteria of JIS E 7102.

  • This paper presents an analytical prediction of Nonlinear characteristics of prestressed concrete bridges by strengthened of externally tendon considering the work sequence, using beam-column element based on flexibility method and tendon element. The beam-column element was developed with reinforced concrete material nonlinearities which are based on the smeared crack concept. The fiber hysteresis rule of beam-column element is derived from the uniaxial constitutive relations of concrete and reinforcing steel fibers. The tendon element represent the bonded tendon and unbonded tendon behaviors. Beam-column element and tendon element was be subroutine A computer program, named RCAHEST (Reinforced Concrete Analysis in Higher Evaluation System Technology), for the analysis of RC and PSC structures was used. The proposed numerical method for prestressed concrete structures by strengthened of externally tendon is verified by comparison with reliable experimental results.

응력특이성을 고려한 접착이음의 강도평가 방법 (Evaluation Method of Bonded Strength Considering Stress Singularity in Adhesively Bonded Joints)

  • Advantages of adhesively bonded joints and techniques of weight reduction have led to increasing use of structural adhesives such as LSI(large scale integration) package, automobile, aircraft in the various industries. In spite of such wide applications of adhesively bonded joints, the evaluation method of bonding strength has not been established. Stress singularity occurs at the interface edges of adhesively bonded joints and it is required to analyze it. In this paper, the stress singularity using 2-dimensional elastic boundary element method (BEM) with the changes of the lap length and adhesive for single lap joint was analyzed, and experiments of strength evaluation were carried out. As the results, the evaluating method of bonding strength considering stress singularity at interface edges of adhesively bonded joints and stress intensity factor of interface crack have been proposed in static and fatigue test.

  • In general, major components of nuclear power plant have been evaluated based on 2-dimensional design codes conservatively. However, more exact assessment is necessary for continued operation beyond the design life. In this paper, 3-dimensional stress and fatigue analyses reflecting full geometry and monitored operating condition of reactor pressure vessel have been carried out. The analyses results showed that conservatism of current 2-dimensional evaluation based on design transient. Therefore, it is anticipated that the schemes developed from this research such as 3-dimensional finite element modeling, stress analysis and fatigue analysis related techniques can be utilized as fundamental tools for exact lifetime evaluation and license renewal of major nuclear components.

  • 본 연구에서는 교량 통합 부대시설 모듈 구조 개발을 위하여 측면 탈 부착식 교량 방호울타리의 3차원 유한요소해석 및 구조 안정성 평가를 수행하였다. LS-DYNA 프로그램을 사용하여 연결 모듈의 격벽 간격 및 볼트 갯수 변화가 방호울타리 구조의 변위 및 응력에 미치는 영향을 상세 분석하였다. 본 연구에서는 LS-DYNA 프로그램을 사용한 유한요소해석은 콘크리트 바닥판에 삽입된 앵커볼트로 연결된 모듈 위에 설치된 방호울타리의 정적 거동과 구조 안전성을 분석하기 위하여 확장되었다. 수치해석은 6개의 매개변수에 대하여 방호울타리에 발생된 처짐 및 응력분포를 비교 분석하였으며 모두 구조적으로 안전성을 확보하는 것으로 나타났다.

원전 배관 손상압력 평가를 위한 파열시험 및 유한요소해석 (Burst Test and Finite Element Analysis for Failure Pressure Evaluation of Nuclear Power Plant Pipes)

  • This study aims to quantitatively evaluate failure pressure of wall-thinned elbow under combined load along with internal pressure, by conducting real-scale burst test and finite element analysis together. For quantitative evaluation, failure pressure data was extracted from the real-scale burst test first, and then finite element analysis was carried out to compare with the test result. For the test, the wall-thinning defect of the extrados or intrados inside the center of 90-degree elbow was considered and the loading modes to open or close the specimen maintaining a certain load or displacement were applied. Internal pressure was applied until failure occurred. As a result, when the bending load was applied under the load control condition, the intrados of the defect was more affected by failure pressure than the extrados, and the opening mode was more vulnerable to failure pressure than the closing mode. When the bending load was applied under the displacement control, it was hardly affected by failure pressure though it was slightly different from the defect position. The result of the finite element analysis showed a similar aspect with the test. Moreover, when major factors such as material properties and pipeline thickness were calibrated to accurate values, the analytical results was more similar to the test results.
