The purpose of this study is to explore how the flow of discourse move and their reasoning process in dialogic argumentation during group modeling on excretion. Five groups of three to four students in the second grade of a middle school participated in the modeling practice of a Gifted Center. Analysis was conducted on argumentation during the modeling activity in which students should explain how the waste product (ammonia) leaves the body. It was found that there was a sequential argumentative process-tentative consensus, solving the uncertainty, and consensus. There were several discourse moves - 'claim' and 'counterclaim' in the stage of tentative consensus, 'query' and 'clarification of meaning' in the stage of solving the uncertainty, and 'change of claim' in the stage of consensus. Students participated in the dialogic argumentation by constructing argument collaboratively for reaching a consensus. Critical questioning in the stage of solving the uncertainty and reasoning in the stage of consensus were the impact factors of dialogic argumentation. By answering the critical questions, students changed their claims or suggested new claims by defending or rebutting previous claims. Students justified group claims with diverse argumentation scheme and scientific reasoning to reach a group consensus. These findings have implication for science educators who want to adopt dialogic argumentation in science classes.

In this Paper, we convert conventional low speed(1x, 6x) DVD systems designed by analog PLL(Phase Locked Loop) into digital PLL to operate at high speed systems flexibly, and present optimal DPLL model in high speed(20x) DVD systems. Especially, we focused on the design of DPLL that can overcome channel effects such as bulk delay, sampling clock frequency offset and asymmetry phenomenon in high speed DVD systems. First, the modified Early-Late timing error detector as digital timing recovery scheme is proposed. And the four-sampled compensation algorithm using zero crossing point as asymmetry compensator is designed to achieve high speed operation and strong reliability. We show that the proposed timing recovery algorithm provides enhanced performances in jitter valiance and SNR margin by 4 times and 3dB respectively. Also, the new four-sampled zero crossing asymmetry compensation algorithm provides 34% improvement of jitter performance, 50% reduction of compensation time and 2.0dB gain of SNR compared with other algorithms. Finally, the proposed systems combined with asymmetry compensator and DPLL are shown to provide improved performance of about 0.4dB, 2dB over the existing schemes by BER evaluation.

In Korea the vehicle enforcement system(VES) detects speeding vehicle using two inductive loop detectors. And the speed reliability of theirs are evaluated through the analysis of image frame which is captured from video camera. This method is validated to evaluate VES on Korea Laboratory Accreditation Scheme(KOLAS) but it needs much time and expense for the analysis of image frame. Because the number of VES are increasing rapidly, the requirement of new evaluation method is necessary. On this paper, the tape switch sensor as a substitution of existing method was introduced and its application on the site are discussed. On the site test we compared the tape switch sensor on the speed measurement of vehicle with the video image frame. As a result we have founded that the tape switch sensor is evaluated to be feasible system on site in respect to measure the overspeed vehicle.

This study was conducted to find the suitability site selection for the construction of Saemangeum horticulture complex taking into account cost-effective environmental management by analyzing and comparing meteorological conditions. The study sites were regions around the Saemangeum area in which the development of an industrial complex extending 28,300 ha is planned. We collected meteorological data in 12 candidate sites and established a rating scheme and thematic maps. We selected ten themes by consulting experts using a questionnaire. Selected ten themes is Summer, 20 days max. temp. mean, Winter, 20 days min. temp. mean, Summer, 90 days temp. mean, Winter, 90 days temp. mean, Year-round, max. wind velocity, Year-round, wind velocity mean, Winter, 90 days solar radiation mean, Year-round, number of foggy days, Year-round, 1 day max. rainfall and Spring. 90 days humidity mean. And we set ratio-based weights for the evaluation parameters.
The visual implementation of 3-dimensional national environment is focused by the requirement and importance in the fields such as, national development plan, telecommunication facility deployment plan, railway construction, construction engineering, spatial city development, safety and disaster prevention engineering. The currently used DEM system using contour lines, which embodies national geographic information based on the 2-D digital maps and facility information has limitation in implementation in reproducing the 3-D spatial city. Moreover, this method often neglects the altitude of the rail way infrastructure which has narrow width and long length. There it is needed to apply laser measurement technique in the spatial target object to obtain accuracy. Currently, the LiDAR data which combines the laser measurement skill and GPS has been introduced to obtain high resolution accuracy in the altitude measurement. In this paper, we first investigate the LiDAR based researches in advanced foreign countries, then we propose data a generation scheme and an algorithm for the optimal manage and synthesis of railway facility system in our 3-D spatial terrain information. For this object, LiDAR based height data transformed to DEM, and the realtime unification of the vector via digital image mapping and raster via exactness evaluation is transformed to make it possible to trace the model of generated 3-dimensional railway model with long distance for 3D tract model generation.

The procedure of the arbitration which is the tag collision is essential because the multiple tags response simultaneously in the same frequency to the request of the Reader. This procedure is known as Anti-collision and it is a key technology in the RFID system. In this paper, we propose the 4-Bit Pattern Slot Allocation(4-BPSA) algorithm for the high-speed identification of the multiple tags. The proposed algorithm is based on the tree algorithm using the time slot and identify the tag quickly and efficiently through accurate prediction using the a slot as a 4-bit pattern according to the slot allocation scheme. Through mathematical performance analysis, We proved that the 4-BPSA is an O(n) algorithm by analyzing the worst-case time complexity and the performance of the 4-BPSA is improved compared to existing algorithms. In addition, we verified that the 4-BPSA is performed the average 0.7 times the query per the Tag through MATLAB simulation experiments with performance evaluation of the algorithm and the 4-BPSA ensure stable performance regardless of the number of the tags.
The progressive attrition of teeth is a normal process by aging. However, excessive tooth wear with decreased vertical dimension of occlusion and collapse of occlusal plane may cause pathologic pulpal condition, occlusal disharmony, functional disorders and esthetic problems. The change of vertical dimension is required in case that there is no sufficient clearance for restoration or in case that the occlusal relationship is modified. For gaining the vertical dimension, a careful diagnosis is essential prior to starting the restoration treatment. After evaluating adaptation of neuromuscular system of patient during provisional phase, the final restorations can be fabricated. In this case, a 78 year old male with severely worn down dentition was treated. To improve the esthetic appearance and to achieve the ideal occlusal relationship, the full mouth rehabilitation with minimal increase of vertical dimension is planned and diagnostic wax-up was performed at the increased vertical dimension. After evaluation of provisional restorations for 12 weeks, final restorations were fabricated and routine clinical assessments were made. After 1 year, the restorations with newly established occlusal scheme are well maintained without significant complications and esthetically and functionally satisfactory results were obtained.
North Korea(NK) has designated the special economic zones(SEZs) since the first one in Rason. But, why have the SEZs in NK still not been developed successfully? This study comparatively evaluated the SEZs in China, Vietnam and NK, with respect to 'context/purpose', 'development/management system', and 'location/infrastructure.' NK's strategies for the SEZs were different from those of China and Vietnam in terms of historical context and development purpose. China and Vietnam chose the market opening policy aiming to reform their national economy, while NK tried the opening policy without the economic reform. This difference made NK's decentralization and location strategies marginal. In spite of the positive land system and tax benefit of NK, the strategies couldn't make a successful result. The implications of this comparative study are as follows. Firstly, NK needs to establish a strategy for the SEZs in accord with the comprehensive and long-term plan for economic development and 'trustworthy and substantial market-systems' being compatible with outside world. For that, NK has to secure the regime stability in political and diplomatic dimensions. Secondly, NK has to carry out policies of decentralization and location of the SEZs more positively. Thirdly, in order to solve the problem related to lack of infrastructure capital, NK needs to utilize a BOT scheme.
Prefetching aims at reducing memory latency by fetching, in advance, data that are likely to be requested by the processor in a near future. The effectiveness of prefetching is determined by how accurate the prediction on the needed instructions and data is. Most previous studies on prefetching were limited to proposing a particular prefetch scheme and its performance evaluation, paying little attention to theoretical aspects of prefetching. This paper focuses on the theoretical aspects of instruction prefetching. For this purpose, we propose a clairvoyant prefetch model that makes use of perfect history information. Based on this theoretical model, we analyzed upper limits on the prefetch prediction accuracies of the SPEC benchmarks. The results show that the prefetch prediction accuracy is very high when there is no cache. However, as the size of the instruction cache increases, the prefetch prediction accuracy drops drastically. For example, in the case of the spice benchmark, the prefetch prediction accuracy drops from 53% to 39% when the cache size increases from 2Kbyte to 16Kbyte (assuming 16byte block size). These results indicate that as the cache size increases, most localities are captured by the cache and that instruction prefetching based on the information extracted from the references that missed in the cache suffers from prediction inaccuracies

In the cloud computing environment, cloud service users purchase and use the virtualized resources from cloud resource providers on a pay as you go manner. Typically, there are two billing plans for computing resource allocation adopted by large cloud resource providers such as Amazon, Gogrid, and Microsoft, on-demand and reserved plans. Reserved Virtual Machine(VM) instance is provided to users based on the lengthy allocation with the cheaper price than the one of on-demand VM instance which is based on shortly allocation. With the proper mixture allocation of reserved and on-demand VM corresponding to users' requests, cloud service providers are able to reduce the resource allocation cost. To do this, prior researches about VM allocation scheme have been focused on the optimization approach with the users' request prediction techniques. However, it is difficult to predict the expected demands exactly because there are various cloud service users and the their request patterns are heavily fluctuated in reality. Moreover, the previous optimization processing techniques might require unacceptable huge time so it is hard to apply them to the current cloud computing system. In this paper, we propose the cloud brokering system with the adaptive VM allocation schemes called A3R(Adaptive 3 Resource allocation schemes) that do not need any optimization processes and kinds of prediction techniques. By using A3R, the VM instances are allocated to users in response to their service demands adaptively. We demonstrate that our proposed schemes are able to reduce the resource use cost significantly while maintaining the acceptable Quality of Service(QoS) of cloud service users through the evaluation results.
