Palplus system is a new European 16:9 wide screen TV format which has a full compatibility with standard PAL and the system has a advantage of improving picture quality by the reduction of cross color and cross luminance as well as making use of the full horizontal luminance bandwidth of the PAL system. We implemented European 16:9 PALplus Digital decoder(625/50/2:1) system using SVP(Serial Video Processor) IC and discrete helper demodulator.

This study was carried out to compare farrowing rate and litter traits for European and American lines with boar sperm frozen in straws. Farrowing rate, litter size and mean pig weght at birth and 21 days were investigated. A total of 36 gilts Landrace, Large white and Duroc were investigated at the Chungnam Provincial Animal Breeding Station. We obtained higher farrowing rate and litter traits for European line boars compared to American line boars.

Because of stricter goverment regulations concerning contamination of meat by pharmaceuticals, chemicals and a general growing sensibility of the public, customers habits are switching and farmers and vets are looking more and more for alternatives to cope with these rising demands. The trend of using Nutriceutical products, composed by using the knowledge of traditional herbal medicine systems is growing in the European Union faster now than it happened 10 years ago and this upward trend will be much stronger in the future.

In this paper, we consider a risk-minimization hedging problem for a special European contingent claims. The existence and uniqueness of strategy are given constructively. Firstly, a non-standard European contingent is demonstrated as stochastic payment streams. Then the existence of the risk minimization strategy and also the uniqueness are proved under two kinds market information by using Galtchouk-Kunita-Watanabe decomposition and constructing a 0-achieving strategy risk-minimizing strategies in full information. And further, we have proven risk-minimizing strategies exists and is unique under restrict information by constructing a weakly mean-selffinancing strategy.

This study considers the local players in the European steel industry, whose the amounts of crude production are more or less 5 million tons per annum. They do not belong to the Pan-EU mega-group of steel mills with more than 15 million tons of crude production yearly. However, these mid-sized steel mills in European countries have been originated from the strong foundation of steel, scientifically and technically, as well as the centennial history. They concentrate on the niche market adjacent to the local area, which takes advantage of the geographical location. The companies considered here are VoestAlpine in Austria, Salzgitter in Germany, Rautaruukki in finland, and SSAB in Sweden. Their corporate strategies are compared on the basis of product mix and sales structure. And, the deep analysis for each company is performed, such as business strategies with the sales volumes, market strategies. competitiveness improvement planning. and R&D policies with the technology management. These analysis results can be benchmarked as the cases of best practices for domestic steel mills, especially mid & small sized companies, that develop business and market strategies for the sustainable growth and profitability.

Bio-degradable hydraulic oil using polyolester base oil is formulated for the applications of heavy duty hydraulic machineries. It has proved quality and market price competitiveness by assessment of reliability test in vehicle manufacturer and specific vehicle related institute. Contribution of bio-degradable oil keep the working environment clean and increase export competitiveness in European market. Leakage or waste of mineral types of hydraulic oils in heavy duty machineries causes pollution of river, ocean, underground water. Drinkable-water pollution is serious problem in Europe. In some European countries, using bio-degradable hydraulic oils become an obligation in heavy duty machineries. New product of bio-degradable oils satisfy the European regulations(OECD 302B) and shows excellent performance in compare with European products.

The KOMPSAT European Cooperation aims at enhancing existing and establishing new collaborations between KARI and various European institutions. The objective is to create mutual data and information exchange possibilities and to develop new data applications of available and future space based Earth Observation sensors. In this paper, the concept of a KOMPSAT regional application center, a joint development between KARI, ARCS and other European partners is presented. This includes the establishment of an additional KOMPSAT-2 downlink in Europe, and the developments of a state-of-the-art user service system for urban and environmental security monitoring.

The European Alps face a number of major threats - from habitat loss to pollution, from mass tourism to the impacts of climate change. The European alpine climate has changed significantly during the past century, with temperatures increasing more than twice the global average. This makes alpine mountains especially vulnerable to changes in the hydrological cycle and decreases in snow and glacier cover, which are already occurring. In winter, artificial snow-making is currently the most widespread strategy to extend and supplement natural snow cover and secure winter tourism. Artificial snow-making is not only very costly, but also has knock-on effects such as increased water consumption and energy demand or ecological damage, which may lead to negative externalities. The European Alps facing the challenge of changing climate and anthropogenic pressures.

The number of organic farms are increasing in European countries during last 10 years. Most European governments are giving subsidies for organic farmers as well as converting organic farms from conventional farming method. The price level of most organic products are higher than price level of conventional products in general. However, there are certainly some market demand problems in organic products in some countries. Organic farms will be increased in 2005 and 2010 for 10∼20% of the total agricultural area in some European countries. Government subsidy payment is also increasing. Therefore, many farmers are going to change into organic farming method from conventional farming. However, there will be certainly some market demand problems in future because of national economic growth problems. At the same time, the quality of soil can be improved and status of health of urban consumers should be improved by consuming organic products.

In 2003, the differing stances about the war in Iraq created a major diplomatic crisis among European countries. Considering various clues which have steadily emerged, this paper refutes the relevance of the debate about weapons of mass destruction and analyses the real motivations for these distinct positions through Europe: the role of the US in the transatlantic relationship, expectations towards the EU and the weight of public opinion. Then, it examines how these intrinsic divergences of political views and interests explain the difficulties encountered in implementing the European Security and Defence Policy and concludes on the keys issues which need to be addressed.
