A Proposed Analytical Model for the Debris Flow with Erosion and Entrainment of Soil Layer (지반의 침식 및 연행작용을 고려한 토석류 해석 모델 제안)

  • A debris flow analysis model has been developed to simulate the erosion and entrainment of soil layer. Special attention is given to the model which represents strength softening behaviour of soil layer due to velocity of deformation. The 3D FE analysis by Coupled Eulerian-Lagrangian (CEL) model is conducted to simulate the debris flow. The model is validated using published data on laboratory experiment (Mangeny et al., 2010). It has been definitely shown that proposed model is in good agreement with the results of laboratory data. Futhermore, the FE analysis is conducted to ensure capability of simulating the real scale debris flow. The result of Ramian watershed, Korea shows that the debris flow has increased the volume and speed and it is in good agreement with field investigation. Based on this, it is confirmed that proposed model shows good agreement of the behavior of the actual and analytical debris flow.

Verification of the Reliability of the Numerical Analysis for the Crash Impact Test of Rotorcraft Fuel Tank (회전익항공기용 연료탱크 충돌충격시험에 대한 수치해석 신뢰성 검증)

  • The main function of a fuel tank is to store fuel. On the other hand, the structural soundness of the fuel tank is related directly to the survival of the crew in an emergency situation, such as an aircraft crash, and the relevant performance is demonstrated by a crash impact test. Because crash impact tests have a high risk of failure due to the high impact loads, various efforts have been made to minimize the possibility of trial and error in the actual test at the beginning of the design. Numerical analysis performed before the actual test is a part of such efforts. For the results of numerical analysis to be reflected in the design, however, the reliability of numerical analysis needs to be ensured. In this study, the results of numerical analysis and actual test data were compared to ensure the reliability of numerical analysis for the crash impact test of a rotorcraft fuel tank. For the numerical analysis of a crash impact test, LS-DYNA, crash analysis software, was used and the ALE (arbitrary Lagrangian Eulerian) technique was applied as the analysis method. To obtain actual test data, strain gages were installed on the metal fittings of the fuel tank and linked to the data acquisition equipment. The strain and stress of the fuel tank fitting were calculated by numerical analysis. The reliability of the numerical analysis was enhanced by assessing the error between the strain measurement of the upper fitting obtained from an actual fuel tank and the strain calculated from numerical analysis.

Numerical Study of Heat Flux and BOG in C-Type Liquefied Hydrogen Tank under Sloshing Excitation at the Saturated State (포화상태에 놓인 C-Type 액체수소 탱크의 슬로싱이 열 유속과 BOG에 미치는 변화의 수치적 분석)

  • This study was conducted to predict the tendency for heat exchange and boil-off gas (BOG) in a liquefied hydrogen tank under sloshing excitation. First, athe fluid domain excited by sloshing was modeled using a multiphase-thermal flow domain in which liquid hydrogen and hydrogen gas are in the saturated state. Both the the volume of fluid (VOF) and Eulerian-based multi-phase flow methods were applied to validate the accuracy of the pressure prediction. Second, it was indirectly shown that the fluid velocity prediction could be accurate by comparing the free surface and impact pressure from the computational fluid dynamics with those from the experimental results. Thereafter, the heat ingress from the external convective heat flux was reflected on the outer surfaces of the hydrogen tank. Eulerian-based multiphase-heat flow analysis was performed for a two-dimensional Type-C cylindrical hydrogen tank under rotational sloshing motion, and an inflation technique was applied to transform the fluid domain into a computational grid model. The heat exchange and heat flux in the hydrogen liquid-gas mixture were calculated throughout the analysis,, whereas the mass transfer and vaporization models were excluded to account for the pure heat exchange between the liquid and gas in the saturated state. In addition, forced convective heat transfer by sloshing on the inner wall of the tank was not reflected so that the heat exchange in the multiphase flow of liquid and gas could only be considered. Finally, the effect of sloshing on the amount of heat exchange between liquid and gas hydrogen was discussed. Considering the heat ingress into liquid hydrogen according to the presence/absence of a sloshing excitation, the amount of heat flux and BOG were discussed for each filling ratio.

  • The aim of this paper is to obtain twenty five Eulerian type double integrals in the form of a general double integral involving Kamp$\'{e}$ de F$\'{e}$riet function. The results are derived with the help of the generalized classical Watson's theorem obtained earlier by Lavoie, Grondin and Rathie. A few interesting special cases of our main result are also given.

  • We present the numerical algorithm for the model for high-strain rate deformation in hyperelastic-viscoplastic materials based on a fully conservative Eulerian formulation by Plohr and Sharp. We use a hyperelastic equation of state and the modified Steinberg and Lund's rate dependent plasticity model for plasticity. A two-dimensional approximate Riemann solver is constructed in an unsplit manner to resolve the complex wave structure and combined with the second order TVD flux. Numerical results are also presented.

  • Recently, since one of the most important societal problems facing us today is the growing incidence of the contamination of coastal sea from variety of sources, several distinct numerical improvements have been made and applying the transport models to flow-dominated transport area. Application of Eulerian numerical models to the solution of sharp-front problems often results in oscillations, phase errors, peak depression, and/or numerical dispersion, unless very fine temporal and spatial steps are adopted.   • Although much progress has been made in the computation of Eulerian steady flows with high viscoelasticity, less work has been done for the case of transient flows. Because of their importance in injection moulding, blow moulding and other forming processes, as well as their Intrinsic interest, we believe more attention should be focussed in this area. Hence in this paper we review progress in unsteady flow computations with high elasticity, and show some new results in this area.

  • An efficient method of formulating the equations of motion of multibody systems is presented. The equations of motion for each body are formulated by using Newton-Eulerian approach in their generic form. And then a transformation matrix which relates the global coordinates and relative coordinates is introduced to rewrite the equations of motion in terms of relative coordinates. When appropriate set of kinematic constraints equations in terms of relative coordinates is provided, the resulting differential and algebraic equations are obtained in a suitable form for computer implementation. The system geometry or topology is effectively described by using the path matrix and reference body operator.

  • 액체 추진제를 사용하는 연소기관내의 연소 불안정 현상에 대하여 수치적인 해석을 수행하였다 비정상 다차원 다상 유동장에 대한 Eulerian-Lagrangian 방법에 기반을 두고 수학적으로 모델 하였으며 속도-압력-밀도에 대한 결합메커니즘은 개선된 PISO 알고리즘을 사용하여 처리하였다. 연소실의 기하학적 형상 및 추진제의 분무조건이 액체 연료 추진기관의 연소 불안정 현상에 미치는 영향을 체계적으로 해석하였으며 액체 추진제의 증발 특성이 연소 불안정 현상의 Driving Mechanism에 미치는 영향을 상세히 분석하였다.
