  • In this paper, an area-efficient degree-computationless modified Euclidean (DCME) algorithm is presented and implemented for high-speed Reed-Solomon (RS) decoder. The DCME algorithm can be used to solve the key equation in Reed-Solomon decoder to get the error location polynomial and the error value polynomial. A pipelined recursive structure is adopted for reducing the area of key equation solver (KES) block with sacrifice of an amount of decoding latency. For comparisons, KES block for RS(255,239,8) decoder with the proposed architecture is implemented using Verilog HDL and synthesized using Synopsys design tool and 65nm CMOS technology. The synthesis results show that the proposed architecture can be implemented with less gate counts than other existing DCME architectures.

  • In this paper, we consider the problem of finding the hypersurface Mn in the Euclidean (n + 1)-space ℝn+1 that satisfies an equation of mean curvature type, called singular minimal hypersurface equation. Such an equation physically characterizes the surfaces in the upper half-space ℝ+3 (u) with lowest gravity center, for a fixed unit vector u ∈ ℝ3. We first state that a singular minimal cylinder Mn in ℝn+1 is either a hyperplane or a α-catenary cylinder. It is also shown that this result remains true when Mn is a translation hypersurface and u is a horizantal vector. As a further application, we prove that a singular minimal translation graph in ℝ3 of the form z = f(x) + g(y + cx), c ∈ ℝ - {0}, with respect to a certain horizantal vector u is either a plane or a α-catenary cylinder.

  • In this paper, we have proposed and implemented a novel architecture which can be used to effectively design the modified Euclidean (ME) algorithm for key equation solver (KES) block in high-speed Reed-Solomon (RS) decoder. With polynomial expressions of newly-defined state variables for controlling each processing element (PE), the proposed architecture has simple input/output signals and requires less hardware complexity because no degree computation circuits are needed. In addition, since each PE circuit is independent of the error correcting capability t of RS codes, it has the advantage of linearly increase of the hardware complexity of KES block as t increases. For comparisons, KES block for RS(255,239,8) decoder is implemented using Verilog HDL and synthesized with 0.13um CMOS cell library. From the results, we can see that the proposed architecture can be used for a high-speed RS decoder with less gate count.

  • In this paper, we consider the two computer intensive methods for extended Euclidean algdrithm. Two methods we propose are C-programming based approach and Microsoft excel based method, respectively. Thses methods are applied to the derivation of greatest commnon devisor, multiplicative inverse for modular operation and the solution of diophantine equation. Concrete investigation for extended Euclidean algorithm with the computer intensive process is given. For the application of extended Euclidean algorithm, we consider the RSA encrytion method which is still popular recently.

  • In this article, we study rotation surfaces in the 4-dimensional pseudo-Euclidean space E$_2$$^4$. Also, we obtain the complete classification theorems for the flat rotation surfaces with finite type Gauss map, pointwise 1-type Gauss map and an equation in terms of the mean curvature vector. In fact, we characterize the flat rotation surfaces of finite type immersion with the Gauss map and the mean curvature vector field, namely the Gauss map of finite type, pointwise 1-type Gauss map and some algebraic equations in terms of the Gauss map and the mean curvature vector field related to the Laplacian of the surfaces with respect to the induced metric.

  • The "Figure Equation" chapter of current high school curriculum prevents students from relating the concept with what they studied in middle school Euclidean geometry. Woo(1998) concerns that the curriculum introduces the concept merely in algebraic ways without providing students with opportunities to relate it with their prior understanding of geometry, which is based on Euclidean one. In the present study, a sequence of GeoGebra-embedded-geometry lessons was designed so that students could be introduced to and solve problems of the Analytic Geometry by triggering their prior understanding of the Euclidean Geometry which they had learnt in middle school. The study contributes to the field of mathematics education by suggesting a sequence of geometry lessons where students could introduce to the coordinate geometry meaningfully and conceptually in high school.

  • The new principle to measure a sizing degree by a contact angle was developed using an automatic determination of the 3-end point coordinates of the water droplet on a sheet, which could diminish the operator's bias during measurement. A constant amount of water was first placed on a sample sheet by a water dispenser, and then an image of the liquid droplet was captured by a digital camera and then transmitted to a computer. The program measuring for contact angle extracted a liquid contour by Gaussian function combined with a 8-direction chain code. The Euclidean equation was applied to the binary image of the liquid contour in order to measure the diameter of the contour. Finally, the contact angle of the liquid was calculated by using the diameter and the top coordinates. In addition, a surface free energy of the sample sheet and an elapsed time taken up to the complete absorption into the sheet were simultaneously measured with the contact angle.

  • Let M be a real hypersurface of a complex space form with constant curvature c. In this paper, we study the hypersurface M admitting Miao-Tam critical metric, i.e., the induced metric g on M satisfies the equation: $-({\Delta}_g{\lambda})g+{\nabla}^2_g{\lambda}-{\lambda}Ric=g$, where ${\lambda}$ is a smooth function on M. At first, for the case where M is Hopf, c = 0 and $c{\neq}0$ are considered respectively. For the non-Hopf case, we prove that the ruled real hypersurfaces of non-flat complex space forms do not admit Miao-Tam critical metrics. Finally, it is proved that a compact hypersurface of a complex Euclidean space admitting Miao-Tam critical metric with ${\lambda}$ > 0 or ${\lambda}$ < 0 is a sphere and a compact hypersurface of a non-flat complex space form does not exist such a critical metric.

  • SAR has pulse compression gain through the process including range and azimuth. Efficient jammers against the SAR with simulated elements are evaluated in the view of power and SAR image. In this paper, J/S is analysed for SAR with RF propagation equation firstly. Several jamming signals on SAR signal are made into SAR image through pulse compression process. Objective jamming performance is evaluated using euclidean distance.
