Facing reconfiguration of world economic order in the process of globalization and changes in domestic economic and social conditions, Japan has experienced a rapid inflow of foreign immigrants and hence a restructuring of labor market and ethic and cultural mixture. This paper explores contexts of inflow and social and spatial characteristics of immigrant workers in Japan. Uneven regional development on the global level and shifting to flexible accumulation regime, depletion of previously underutilized labor resource, better-educated youth and shrinking and aging of Japanese populace on the national level can be pointed out as important elements of immigration contexts. This paper also explains the hierarchizaton of labor market and differentiation of spatial distribution of immigrant workers in Japan in terms of visa condition and nationality. In particular, focusing on the case of Hiroshima prefecture, this paper analyzes residential differentiation of immigrants according to their nationality. Finally, it finds out some problems which immigrant workers have confronted in Hiroshima region.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the trends of character-related research in science education by analyzing science education research literatures in South Korea. To this end, literatures on character were extracted from the KCI-listed journals and theses from 1990 to December 2016, and analyzed according to the criteria such as terms relating to character, year of publication, research design and method, and research content. A total of 54 KCI-listed papers and 67 theses were extracted. As a result, 46%, 49%, and 5% of the researches include the terms like character, ethic, and moral in their titles. According to the year of publication, it was found that the number of research papers related to character increased rapidly by more than two times in 2012 as compared to the past years. According to research objects, researches about gifted students were the most common, and when considering the ratio of gifted students to general students, many studies related to character concentrated on gifted students. Starting 2009, research papers on qualitative and hybrid research design begin to advance as compared the number of papers in quantitative research design. With regards to research methods used, seven methods were classified; five of them ranged from 16% to 19% while interpretive research method was 12% and test tool validity study was the lowest at 2%. By extracting 30 representative keywords so as to analyze the contents of character-related researches, we found various implications to character in relation to nature and researches about SSI, etc. As time passed by, the contents of character-related research in science education became more diversified and the number of researches increased. New research contents appeared due to the needs of the times.

In this study, we develop a role-playing instruction model based on mind practice. The proposed model can strengthen the information and communication ethics and enhance the will to act which leads to behavioral changes. It is also designed considering methodological and procedural elements of mind education and the steps of role-playing. It has much importance on having students experience mind practice directly and indirectly through role-playing. Firstly, an instruction model for a role-playing is designed based on other researches and case studies. Secondly, it was applied to students to find out the advantages and improvements and modified the earlier version and then, it was applied to 36 sophomores in J university in J city for five weeks. They are majoring in Education and are taking Instructional method and Instructional technology. To prove the effectiveness of the model, it was also applied 5th year 24 students, 6th year 26 students and 10 teachers in an elementary school. The results show that more than 90% students respond positively about how interesting information and communication ethics after participating in a role-playing instruction model based on mind practice.
This article studies criticism leveled at Yulgok scholarship by the Toegye School in the northern Gyungbuk region. The Toegye School (Yulgok School) was formed both by theoretical contention and constructive criticism with its counterparts. Accordingly, the main intellectual traits of the Toegye School may not be fully appreciated by inquiring into its theoretical structure and context only; rather, this study proposes that a sound understanding of the Toegye School must be accompanied simultaneously with an analysis on aspects of the altercation with the Yulgok School of the time. In this regard, this article primarily aims to shed light on the Toegye School's theoretical context through surveying the criticism leveled by the Toegye School in the northern Gyungbuk region, which hold steadfast adherents to the discipline among other regions, against the Yulgok scholarship. Embracing the Confucian ethic, the philosophical principles of the Toegye School based on autonomy of 'Li'(理), i.e. ethical objectivism, basically aimed at reaching the state of self-manifestation. Namely, the main objective of the Toegye School was to anchor the way how the school understood existential form and cause of the universe to an ethical foundation in a crystal clear way and, accordingly, this belief in which the Toegye School gave a priority to 'Li' rather than 'Gi'(氣) must have given an advantageous position in terms of theoretical clarity over its counterparts. Furthermore, the crux of the Confucian ethical world view in the Toegye School's modes of inquiry could berevealed by the Toegye's 'Libal(理發)-theory'. From this point of view, the fundamental criticism that could be waged by the Toegye School was against Yulgok scholarship's gross misconception of perceiving 'Gi' as 'Li.' Scholars and commentators in the Toegye School severely disapproved of the possibility of ethical objectivism of Yulgok scholarship.
The relationship between Confucian tradition and modern China has been discussed since the last century only on a preconceived level of "pre-modernization" without practical orientation, since the discussion has been referred to the modern West while China has not yet commenced modernization. Such being the case, it is of great significance to revert to this topic in the contemporary context of China's modernization. In other words, such new discussions are concerned with a series of difficulties China is presently confronted. To put it brief, the profit-oriented market economy has bit by bit undermined the traditional customs of the mild agricultural society, resulting in the emotional apathy among people, crush of the ethical order, discard of morality in life, ignorance of man's spiritual existence, and ultimately the extremely unbalanced development of "beggar-thy-neighbor" situation among ethnic groups, countries and regions. Since Confucius time, the Confucian tradition has always been attaching great importance to purify customs through social rules for etiquette and harmony, in the process of which, the ethic order is arranged to promote the emotional communication among group members, the individuals are cultivated to enhance their spiritual realms, and most importantly, those social rules for etiquette and harmony are casted as forms of civilization so as to achieve peace and harmony of the whole world. The integration of these three aspects of the Confucian tradition can undoubtedly provide a reference for solving considerable problems confronted by modern China.
This article is a study of Karl Marx's manifesto and the reform in donghak for the modality and their symbolism. As a text, Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels' declaration on the Communist Alliance and the reform program of the peasant Donghak were choose. This Declaration and the Reformation are the works of philosophical practice discourse of the 1800s in this article, which unfolds paradigmatically, deriving its common symbolic meaning in the semiotic sense, and evolving ideologically towards a democracy free of property. In the end, these two historical incident which are published in the contemporary breath, constitute an accusation against a nonhuman policy of surveillance and punishment. Beginning with ethical nature inherent in the novel, this paper argues that ethical responsibility of $21^{st}$ century global fiction lies in its invitation to readers to rethink the status quo in a globalized world. While David Mitchell's Cloud Atlas and Min-gyu Park's Dinner with Buffett use international settings, these works exemplify how global fiction fails at, or succeeds in, the ethical task of challenging the contemporary world, respectively. This is because Mitchell's 500-page novel, although a felicitous embodiment of globalization and hybridity, does not challenge dominant ideologies and instead ends up reproducing a conventional humanist ideology against the backdrop of exotic places and diverting literary pastiches. In contrast, Dinner with Buffett, a novella about a Korean average Joe who wins a charity meal with tycoon Warren Buffett, perplexes the reader with counterintuitive turns and, in doing so, uncovers what we believe to be common sense today that serves global capitalism.
Sin-jeokdo (Hogye, 1574-1663) was a general of patriotic army who protected the region of Euseong at the time of Qing dynasty's invasion in 1627(Jungmyo) and 1636(Byongja). He was an prominent figure outside government as well as a faithful confucian who spent his life with reading and teaching junior scholars after disgraceful treaty in the year of Byongja. Hogye understood the neo-Confucianism in terms of the whole duty of men(綱常) and righteousness(義理) which was in the status of sole official academic subject and thought its practice only hinged upon the practice of filial piety and brotherly love together with loyalty and sincerity based on morals between sovereign and subject, father and son. He, therefore, emphasized that the righteousness only can be accomplished by dying of children and subjects for filial piety and fidelity respectively, at the time of commotion. Hogye's practice of righteousness is grounded on the spirit of Chosun Confucianism which stressed actual practices of moral principles and duties. His practice of righteousness shows internalized cultural sinocentrism and moral-centric, ethic-centric characteristic of Chosun Confucianism. Moreover, the moral consciousness which was shown in Hogye's thought helped to keep Korean's pride and observe morality and it served itself as a basis of commencement of nationalistic military, religious movements afterwards.
The purpose of this study is to show that there are textual similarities between philosophy of Zhuangzi(莊子) and what Jacques Derrida' concepts such as 'differance', 'trace', and 'play', etc. Through our comparative study, we have established a philosophical affinity between Taoist thinking of Zhuangzi and Derridian deconstructive thinking. Zhuangzi and Derrida deconstruct all kinds of traditional and metaphysical thoughts. Zhuangzi's saying of "There is Tao(道) for Thievery(盜)". I call this philosophical tendency 'the logic of cohabitation and coexistence' of the Taoist philosophy. Derrida and Zhuangzi suggest that the logic of cohabitation and coexistence recognizes and affirms differences between opposites. In these thoughts of double affirmation, there is no violence of dichotomous thinking. In other words, their ways of thinking challenge the value system that suggests a single truth, and propose that all human values necessarily carry half-values. They give us to create an enjoyable play-space for human beings in this world. Zhuangzi's suggestions for moral theory provide us with a chance for making question as what is the better life with the others, with a fresh and new perspectives to understand differently the human beings along the category of universe in the 21st century.
This paper explores the academic topography of the discourses on the anthropocene to delve into how the humanities can insightfully respond to the ecological crisis of the Earth through the lens of environmental humanities proposed in a 2020 book, The Anthropocene and the Humanities: From Climate Changes to a New Age of Sustainability by a scientific philosopher, Carolyn Merchant. By publishing her latest book, The Anthropocene and the Humanities, Merchant, a pioneering scholar of ecofeminism, has recently started into inquiring into the discourses on the anthropocene, meaning a geological age led by anthropos/humans. In one of her most distinguished works of 1980, The Death of Nature: Women, Ecology, and the Scientific Revolution, Merchant has revealed that the modern Western perception of nature, often identified with women, have been figuratively killing nature as well as women. Arguing in The Anthropocene and the Humanities that the anthropocene has been enacting a "second death of nature," which has been practically and technially killing nature, Merchant calls for the insight of the environmental humanities that help us to build a "sustainable livelihood" based on the "partnership" between human and nonhuman nature. This paper contemplates on what humanities can do in the era of anthropocenic planetarian crisis with the environmental humanistic alternatives in ecofeminist perspective to overcome the anthropocenic crisis aggravated by the covid-19 occurred at the point when the climate change was viscerally felt by the humans in the twenty first century.
