탈지미세조류로부터 폴리페놀 생산 증대를 위한 열수추출 조건 최적화 (Optimization of Hot-water Extraction Conditions of Polyphenolic Compounds from Lipid Extracted Microalgae)

  • 합성 항산화제에 대한 대체제로 천연 항산화제에 대한 연구가 활발히 진행되고 있으며 미세조류는 천연 항산화제의 원료로 많은 관심을 받고 있다. 본 연구에서는 탈지미세조류에서 총 폴리페놀(TPC) 추출증대를 위해 추출용매, 온도, 시간, 고액비율과 에탄올 첨가 농도 최적화를 수행하였다. 열수와 유기용매 추출성능을 비교했을 때, 열수추출이 유기용매 보다 우수한 성능을 보였으며 온도 증가에 따라 추출성능도 비례하여 증가함을 보였다. 열수에 의한 추출이 에탄올 용액 추출(>98%)에 비해 우수한 성능을 보였으며40% 에탄올 용액을 이용한 열수 추출이 가장 우수한 추출 효과를 보였다. 추출조건10 min, $100^{\circ}C$, 40% 에탄올 열수추출에서 최대 폴리페놀 농도인 3.35 mg GAE (gallic acid equivalent)/g DM을 얻을 수 있었다. 지질 추출을 위한 유기용매 전처리 공정이 선수행 되었음에도 불구하고 탈지미세조류(Tetraselmis KCTC 12236BP)의 폴리페놀 농도가 다른 탈지이전 미세조류와 동등한 수준임을 확인할 수 있어 탈지미세조류가 천연 폴리페놀의 원료로서 적합함을 확인 할 수 있었다. 또한, 고액추출을 모사하기 위해 Peleg 모델을 이용해 예측한 폴리페놀 농도가 실험에 의해 얻어진 값과 높은 일치도를 보임으로 모델을 이용한 모사가 폴리페놀 추출 모사에 유용함을 증명할 수 있었다.

Global Functional Analysis of Butanol-Sensitive Escherichia coli and Its Evolved Butanol-Tolerant Strain

  • Butanol is a promising alternative to ethanol and is desirable for use in transportation fuels and additives to gasoline and diesel fuels. Microbial production of butanol is challenging primarily because of its toxicity and low titer of production. Herein, we compared the transcriptome and phenome of wild-type Escherichia coli and its butanol-tolerant evolved strain to understand the global cellular physiology and metabolism responsible for butanol tolerance. When the ancestral butanol-sensitive E. coli was exposed to butanol, gene activities involved in respiratory mechanisms and oxidative stress were highly perturbed. Intriguingly, the evolved butanol-tolerant strain behaved similarly in both the absence and presence of butanol. Among the mutations occurring in the evolved strain, cis-regulatory mutations may be the cause of butanol tolerance. This study provides a foundation for the rational design of the metabolic and regulatory pathways for enhanced biofuel production.

연료 물성에 따른 횡단 유동장 내의 액적 분열 특성에 관한 실험적 연구 (Experimental Investigation on the Breakup Characteristics of Various Fuels in air Cross-flow Condition)

  • In this study, the breakup characteristics of mono disperse droplets were studied with various fuels, ethanol, diesel fuel, biodiesel fuel extracted from soybean oil, and pure water. In order to investigate the droplet behavior in air cross-flow conditions, the experimental equipment was composed of a droplet generator with an air nozzle, and a high-magnification photo detecting system. Droplets produced by the droplet generator were injected into the air stream flowing normal to a direction of liquid drop jet. Digital images of the droplet behavior in air flow field were recorded by controlling the air flow rate. From the inspections, droplet breakup mechanism is primarily classified into the two kinds of stage, first breakup stage and second breakup stage. At the first breakup stage, droplet deformation rate seems to be affected by the force induced by the surface tension and the viscosity. On the other hand, at the second breakup stage, droplet is broken up mainly induced by the surface tension, so the breakup transition can be divided by the regular Weber number.

전자기장 해석을 이용한 CNG 차량 용기용 밸브 솔레노이드의 설계 (Design of a Cylinder Valve Solenoid for a CNG Vehicle using Electromagnetic Field Analysis)

  • Growing concerns regarding environmental pollution have increased the demand for green vehicles. Green vehicles include electric vehicles, compressed natural gas vehicles, fuel cell vehicles, and vehicles running on fuels such as bio diesel or an ethanol blend. CNG vehicles are equipped with a cylinder valve installed in a high-pressure vessel to control the CNG flow. For this purpose, the optimum design of cylinder valve solenoid is necessary to secure at driving a CNG vehicle. In this study, electromagnetic field analysis to ensure the reliable operation of the solenoid was conducted by using a Maxwell V15. The electromagnetic field analysis was performed by magnetostatic technique according to distance between magnetic poles in order to predict the attraction force. Finally, the attraction force was validated through comparison between the Maxwell results and the measurement results. From the results, the error of attraction force was found to be 2.85 N to 6.5 N under the testing conditions.

  • 청정녹색 액체 연료를 생산하기 위하여, 에탄올에 Bulk-glycerol을 6:4로 혼합하여 용매로 사용한 경우, 반응시간 30 분 동안에 반응온도 $315{\sim}326^{\circ}C$범위에서 왕겨 80 %이상이 분해되어 액화된 것으로 나타났다. 특히 부탄올을 용매로 사용했을 경우 바이오매스 전환율이 84.4 %로 가장 높게 나타났다. Crude oil을 연료로 이용한 기존 온풍난방기의 난방특성을 분석한 결과 Crude oil의 발열량이 대체적으로 경유보다 약 24 % 낮았으며, 특히 오일온도가 낮을 경우 불안전연소로 인한 매연이 나타났으며 화염의 불꽃길이도 줄어들었음을 알 수 있었다. 온풍온도는 $63{\sim}65^{\circ}C$를 유지하였으며 배기가스온도는 $350{\sim}380^{\circ}C$의 범위를 나타났다.

  • This paper is the first of several companion papers which compare the methods of Air-fuel ratio determination. There are many methods which calculate Air-Fuel ratio from exhaust emission. Most of them are based on the simple chemical equations, which use balance of atom, and the error of the calculation is negligible as far as the instrumentation accuracy is guaranteed. They assume homogeneous mixture and complete combustion to the extent of oxygen availability. Because of these simple assumptions, they cannot offer the information about the fuel distribution state and the malfunction of instrument. For these limitations, Eltinge offered new one based on stricter mathematical model. This result coincides with the others very well and gives more information about the mixture state and instrumentation. Consequently this might be a general solution for Air-fuel ratio determination and exhaust composition. The objects of the calculation, however, were not commercial fuels except gasoline and the compensation method of unburned hydrocarbon was not appropriate to recent analyzer. Moreover he did not consider the fuel which contains oxygen, such as methanol, ethanol and blend of gasoline-alcohol. In this paper, Eltinge chart is expanded to the arbitrary fuel composition as the reference exhaust compositions for the purpose of further discussions about Air-fuel ratio determination methods and the charts fur gasoline, diesel, methanol, M85, liquefied petroleum gas(LPG), natural gas(NG), propane, butane are illustrated.

바이오알코올 혼합연료에 따른 배출 특성 연구 (Study on Emission Characteristics Depending on Mixing Fuels of Bio-Alcohol)

  • The dependence on global fossil fuels has been gradually reducing all over the world. Some countries which recognized the important of environmental values were joining to carry out international GHG goals. Our country has also participated with high targets (37% reduction compared to BAU 2030 years). So we need to supply materials of lower GHG value such as a bio-diesel. Bio-alcohol is one of the similar bio-fuels that can be reducing GHG. A lot of countries had tried to commercialize through various R&D for bio-alcohol. In this study, we analyzed the fuel characteristics of bio-alcohol fuel produced by domestic technology. And we evaluated a possibility to use as vehicle fuel through mixing of bio-alcohol and gasoline. The mixed fuels were satisfied with 2.3 wt% of oxygen content that is standard of the petroleum and petroleum alternative fuel business Act. We tried to evaluate a emission characteristic of vehicle by mixed fuel. In accordance with the results we tried to find a correlation between fuel and emission.

서해연안 도시지역의 대기질 특성 연구: 군산시 산업단지와 전주시 도로변에서 VOCs 농도분포 특성 연구 (Characteristics of Air Quality in the West Coastal Urban Atmosphere; Characteristics of VOCs Concentration Measured from an Industrial Complex Monitoring Station at Gunsan and a Roadside Station at Jeonju)

  • The study was performed to elucidate the characteristics of VOCs at distinct monitoring sites in urban atmosphere; one is at a roadside in downtown inland city of Jeonju, and the other is at an industrial site in Gunsan near coastal area. The ambient samples were collected for 24 hours in two-bed adsorbent tubes by using MTS-32 sequential tube sampler equipped with Flex air pump every 16 days in a roadside and a industrial complex from February to November in 2009. VOCs were determined by thermal desorption coupled with GC/MSD. Major individual VOCs in roadside samples were shown as following order in magnitude: toluene>m,p-xylene>ethyl benzene>decanal; and those in the industrial complex samples were as follows: toluene>ethanol>ethyl acetate>decanal>m,pxylene. High benzene concentration in the roadside was more frequently occurred than in the industrial complex. However ambient level of toluene in the industrial complex was higher than that in the road side. Results from roadside sample analysis showed that nonane and 1,2,4-trimethylbenzene were very frequently observed with higher concentrations than those in the industrial complex. It seems that nonane and 1,2,4-trimethylbenzene could be the source characteristics for the roadside air. From the diurnal variation, it was found that concentrations of benzene, ethylbenzene, xylene, nonane and 1,2,4-trimethylbenznene in the roadside were higher during rush hours; but those in the industrial complex were higher from 10 to 16 LST when the industrial activities were animated. On weekly base, the concentration of benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene and m,p-xylene in the roadside were higher specifically on Wednesday, but those in the industrial complex were higher on Sunday. It was found that the general trends of VOCs levels at both sites significantly influence on seasonal changes. The results of factor analysis showed that the VOCs in the roadside were mainly affected by the emission of vehicles and the evaporation of diesel fuel, meanwhile those in the industrial complex were influenced by the evaporation of solvents and vehicular emission.

바이오에너지 작물의 에너지자원으로서 잠재적 가치 평가 (Assessment of BiomassProduction and Potential Energy of Major Bioenergy Crops)

  • 우리나라 주요 바이오에너지 작물인 밀, 유채, 보리, 옥수수, 고구마를 대상으로 그 에너지화 하는 잠재적 가치를 평가하기 위하여, 바이오매스 생산량과 생산 열량을 조사 분석하였고, 작물재배기간 동안 투입 및 생산요인을 작물간에 분석하였다. 바이오매스 생산량은 작물별 조사한 결과와 농림통계연보에 있는 데이타와는 차이가 있었으며, 특히 작물간 및 품종간에도 차이가 있었다. 본 연구에서는 작물별 직접 조사한 결과를 이용하여 바이오매스량, 총 생산열량 등을 비교분석하였다. 바이오매스 생산량에 대하여 주요 에너지 이용 부위만 고려할 때 고구마가 가장 많았고, 지상부의 곡류부위를 포함한 총 바이오 매스는 옥수수(강다옥)가 많은 것으로 나타났다. 부위별 열량을 비교해 보면 바이오 에탄올의 주 원료가 되는 밀, 옥수수 등은 $3,879{\sim}4,317cal\;g^{-1}$으로 비슷한 값을 보였으나, 바이오 디젤의 주 원료로 사용되는 유지작물인 유채의 씨(에너지 이용부위)는 $6,673{\sim}6,725cal\;g^{-1}$으로 가장 높게 나타났다. 단위면적당 총 생산 열량은 총바이오매스가 가장 많은 옥수수의 강다옥이 $8,263kcal\;m^{-2}$ 으로 가장 높게 나타났다. 옥수수의 경우 영농에 필요한 투입이 가장 많았으며 생산량 가장 많은 것으로 나타났다. 고구마는 투입 요소가 전반적으로 보통임에도 불구하고 생산요인은 높은 것으로 나타났다. 추후 대상작물을 확대하여 조사할 필요가 있으며, 우리나라의 좁은 농경지 면적을 감안하여 효율적 이용 측면도 고려하여 적절한 바이오에너지 작물을 선발할 필요가 있다.
