Composite resin have very important roles as a esthetic fillng material. Today we are confusing by a numerous number of the polymer options in the market. Are there any complications such as tooth sensitivity? Do they have stabilization in the long term aspect? These are the reasons why many dentists don't use composite resin in my country. But the problems can be overcome by choosing the best suited materials and meticulous clinical procedures. So that we are able to expand our clinical boundary. I would like to introduce the clinical techniques of Dr.Gordon Christensen in Utah, and overall clinical cases under the base of CRA newsletter.

The esthetic properties of zirconia receive increasing attention as its demand and application escalates. Thus, it is crucial to investigate how zirconia is esthetically different from other dental ceramics. In this study, we evaluated the translucency of zirconia and suggest a method to increase its translucency. We examined the shade of zirconia and offer its distinguishing features. Finally, we analyzed monolithic zirconia restorations to propose esthetic considerations in clinics.

This study was designed to investigate the effect of missing teeth, prosthesis and malalignment on the smile. The full smile photographs of 145 Korean adults(male 114 : female 31) were taken and classified by the lip pattern, the relationship between the lip and the teeth, and the number of teeth displayed in a smile. Besides, the esthetic smile score were estimated by five dentists. Obtained data were compared and analyzed. The results obtained were as follows : 1. The esthetic level of missing teeth group and malaligned group was lower than that of the normal group. 2. The esthetic level of prosthesis group had no difference with that of the normal group. 3. The Number of teeth displayed in a smile had the most effect on the esthetic level in each experimental group.

Orthognathic surgery(2-jaw or 1-jaw surgery) is very famous one of cosmetic techniques. However, primary purpose of orthognathic surgery is to improve the occlusion of jaw and secondary purpose is to improve the esthetic result. Unfortunately, many patients don't only confuse often primary and secondary purpose of orthognathic surgery but they think the esthetic result is more important than the occlusion. Therefore, oral and maxillofacial surgeon has to fully understand cosmetic needs of patient and reflect that in the treatment plan. Patients with prominent mandibular angle want to have the narrower face of so called 'V-line' shape. Various techniques like the angle shaving, ostectomy of the lateral cortex around the mandibular angle and masseter musclectomy can be used for improving the mandibular angle hypertrophy. These techniques also can be applied in orthognathic surgery at the same time. We operated patients of orthognathic surgery, especially, with wide lower face and post-operative results were satisfactory in all cases. So, we propose mandibular angle management for improving the esthetic result of orthognathic surgery.

Articles from leading daily newspapers dealing with costumes analyzed here dating back to oughly one year before the I.M.F. system came into place in korea. The values and esthetic consciousness of that period were studied through fashion. The major conclusions of the study are as follows: 1. The values of exhibition conformity and extravagance were emphasized. 2. The beauty of play the beauty of the extraordinary and the beauty of splendour were expressed as the esthetic consciousness 3. Preference of young people toward expensive high-grade and foreign-made brands was excessive Adults have to guide the young not to overconsume. Development of a sounder culture of clothing is needed for the establishment of economic prosperity for the nation.

As patients have concerned the esthetics of dental restorations, the porcelain fused to metal restorations have gain their popularity due to their strength and esthetic appearance for many years. However, metal collar in subgingival level of porcelain fused to metal restoration often causes black shadows. Inadequately positioned metal collar causes plaque depositions, gingival inflammations, black shadows, and discolorations of margin area. Those problems can be avoided by a clear finishing line, well-fabricated provisional restorations with precise margin and fine polishing, collarless porcelain fused to metal restoration, and all ceramic restoration. In this case report, collarless porcelain fused to metal restoration was used to treat cervical discoloration from old restorations.

With the understanding of tooth crown biomechanics and the progress of dentin adhesives, bonded porcelain restorations including a porcelain laminate veneer present an extended spectrum of indications for anterior teeth. Porcelain laminate veneer as a restoration offers the conservative solution that balances the functional and esthetic needs of the anterior dentition. Porcelain's stiffness, its surface characteristics, and the biomechanical strength achieved through bonding to tooth surface enable the restoration of the tooth as a whole supporting occlusal force and masticatory function. Namely, the optical effects inherent in the tooth and the lifelike features of the porcelain make that this restoration approaches the ultimate in esthetic satisfaction for both the dentist and the patient. A 49-year-old female patient with the incisal discoloration of upper central incisors and black triangle between the central incisors was referred to correct her esthetic problems with prosthodontic approach. The patient was satisfied with two porcelain laminate veneers that were made according to prof. Magne and Belser's recommendation.

심미의 기준은 시대와 문화 그리고 개개인의 주관적인 관점에 따라 각기 다를 수 있다. 하지만 심미적인 부위를 수복하는 치과의사로서 일반적으로 따라야 할 원칙과 기준들이 있으며 수복물의 형태와 주변치아와의 조화 등을 위해 캐드캠의 몇몇 기능들은 아주 유용한 것으로 보이며, 전통적인 작업 방식에 비해 효율성도 높은 것으로 보인다. 또한 전치부 임플란트에서 치은이 얇은 경우 기계적인 문제를 줄이면서도 지르코니아 등의 도재를 사용하기 위한 한 방법인 링크 지대주에 대해 함께 알아보려 한다.

The spaced dentition is a common clinical finding. The careful analysis of clinically spaced dentition is a necessity for effective treatment planning. Spaced dentition often exists in the presence of intact teeth. Therefore, special care should be taken in order to obtain the most successful esthetic effect and to prevent overtreatment as well. The aesthetic restorative dental treatment using the porcelain laminate veneers is getting more popular than the complex orthodontic treatment, and prosthetic solutions that require sacrifice of sound tooth structure. The physical strength of porcelain laminate veneers is not as good as porcelain fused metal crowns, and more researches are needed in the field of bonding between composite cement and porcelain laminate veneer. However, the esthetic results from this unprepared porcelain laminate veneers were satisfactory with Authentic (Ceramay, Germany) pressable ceramic technique and resin cement (Rely X Veneer, 3M). This article deals with 2 cases of unprepared porcelain laminate veneers on anterior teeth.

In case of esthetic restorative procedure with zirconia restoration, we have to use resin cement because of not only just for retention but also esthetic reason. In such a clinical situation, we have to consider two bonding interfaces, one is tooth surface to resin cement and the other is zirconia surface to resin cement. There is well established bonding protocol between tooth surface to resin cement, but bonding protocol of zirconia surface to resin cement is still controversial. In scientific point of view, there are two mechanism for bonding of zirconia restoration.. One is mechanical retention and the other is chemical adhesion. However, we have three different options for bonding of zirconia restoration in clinical situation; 1) Tribo-chemical coating with silica and silane coupling agent 2) Zirconia primer with phosphate chemistry 3) Self-adhesive resin cement with phosphate chemistry.
