Purpose: This paper is a basic study done to establish spiritual health concepts according to Korean culture. The focus was on identifying perceived concepts of spiritual health in Korean people. Methods: The Q method, which is effective in measuring individual subjectivity, was used in this study. Results: Perception of the concept of spiritual health was found to have 3 independent types, Type I is a self-directed, present life centered type. This is a group stressing the importance of planning self-directed life and the people of this group consider the values of the present life as important. Type II is a faith-oriented, afterlife centered type. This is a group whose essence of spiritual health is religious devotion like faith in god and the people of this group do not sympathize with the oriental world view. Type III is an oriental, value-sharing type. This is a group with an oriental world view and the people of this group stress importance in sharing values with communities or others. Conclusion: These results not only become the basis for understanding the concept of spiritual health among Koreans, but also suggest the necessity of comprehensive education for spiritual health promotion.

It is meaningful in that it can be used as valuable data in modern nursing by exploring the meaning and essence of the experiences experienced as women and nurses in the special situation of war to understand their experiences. To find the role of nurses in the war, the research was classified into primary data and secondary data. Among the many data, only those with high external and internal evaluations were selected and analyzed. However subjective opinions were not included. At a time when women's social advancement was difficult, the nurse faithfully fulfilled the role of a nurse on the battlefield, and as a result, it became a new channel for women's social advancement. Nurses performed various roles, such as nursing for soldiers wounded in the Korean War, as well as midwifery and health education for the general public. In this way, during the Korean War, both inside and outside the battlefield, nurses performed all the roles they could in their respective positions. Nursing activities on the battlefield have taken their true value in line with the characteristics of nursing education based on holistic nursing, integrated thinking, love for humanity, and dedication. Recently, disasters and war zones are increasing worldwide, and the number of nurses required in these fields is also increasing. Based on the research results of past nurses' activities, there is a need for interest and research on the new roles of nurses needed in the present and future society. In addition, while not forgetting the sacrifices of nurses in the past, this spirit must be continued and developed.

Tradition is defined as cultural qualities of a regional social group a race, which is transmitted from generation to generation through history. Its contents include human behavior as well as the outcomes from the human behavior and a culture is materialized by means of fullfil fundamental aspiration, in order to co-exist human being and society.This research has considered an architectural space which both show a Korean traditional architecture and modern architectural space, incliding Korean nature under a sort of cultural expression.Also, expressive qualities which are shown within a space as a medium, there is more consideration of method to embody Korean nature into an interior space.There is a subject related to traditional expression of what the real essence of tradition is. In addition, it is a matter of what the method of expression is in order to accomodate, inherit and express the pulse of tradition.

Purpose: This study was to understand to the nursing theory frame contained in the traditional philosophy and western nursing theory for the theory development fit for Korean people and to identified the strategy for nursing theory development. Method: To perform this study various relevant texts-western, eastern, classical and contemporary were reviewed. Result: The metaparadigm of the nursing in western considers four major factors-Human being, Environment, Health and Nursing. In Korea, the metaparadigm of nursing considers three major factors-Universe, Human being (body, life, health, disease) and Nursing. The key strategy for establishing comprehensive nursing theory which combines both western and eastern is to study the nursing literature based on eastern and western philosophy. Theorists should study the life and culture of the specific nation in order to understand the essence of the thoughts and psychology of the patients and to investigate the phenomena, which will be the foundation of theory development. Conclusion: Western nursing theory must be utilized to provide practical framework for the development of nursing theory, and practical approach is necessary for combining western and eastern theory.

Symbol is one of the most profound ways to express the essence of human beings, as well as the most representative non-verbal communication medium. In this study, the descriptions of the clothing and ornaments of the main characters of the novel Little Women were excerpted from the Korean translation version. Based on the hidden symbols from the descriptions, after analyzing the characteristics of the main characters of the novel through their clothing and ornaments, the connection between the clothing and the symbols reflecting the internal workings of the mind was analyzed based on the previous theories on symbols. As proven in this study, since the clothing and ornaments directly symbolize the characteristics of the person, without any explicit statements about his/her characteristics, the clothing itself speaks volumes about them. Clothing is the most accurate visual symbol that speaks of the person's social, economic, and psychological aspects. The use of special clothing and ornaments or the highlight on certain parts reveals the characteristics of the character and his/her situations more effectively. In conclusion, literary, including novels well describes not only external factors, such as the social and cultural status of society and the character's economic situation, but also an individual's psychology such as his/her emotions and personalities. Therefore, the clothing that the character wears in a literary work symbolically reflects these factors.

Chair is one of objects which are closely connected with human body and is a symbol which represents human essence and culture. Symbolism embodies the meaning of expression through transfering the immaterial structure to tangible form. Therefore chair embodies the essential internal desires of human by means of its symbolic representation. In order to understand the essential human desires included in the symbolism of chair it is necessary to consider these desires with respect to cultural and historical context. in this study four essential internal desires of human are investigated through the symbolic representation of chair that is the desires on human psychological comfort authority freedom and eroticism. The purpose of this study is to emphasize the necessity of the design approach based on the understanding of essential internal desires of human which is pursued from the object by user.

Manufacturing firms face a paradigm shift from industrial systems driven by efficiency to post-industrial systems where success depends on a quick-response to customer demands for a variety of high-quality products. In essence, time is becoming a critical dimension for competition. New information technologies allow many firms to pursue time-based competitive strategies. The purpose of this research is to investigate the relationship among the types of information technology, behaviors of suppliers, the structures of new product development processes, and the competitiveness of the firms. The data for this study were collected from 96 Korean manufacturing firms that have implemented certain types of information technologies. Research results from LISREL analysis confirm that the competitiveness comes from product innovation capabilities and innovative product development process. But the linkage between the information technologies and the firms' competitiveness proves to be indirect. Suppliers, organizational culture related to IT, and some other factors also have indirect impact on the competitiveness. A summarized report of other findings is provided as well.

Balhae was an ancient Korean kingdom that existed almost 1,300 years ago. It was a dynamic time in the Korean history when the national strength was building up in terms of politics, economy and culture, thereby called as "Haedongseongguk, the powerhouse in the East". Balhae had dominated parts of Manchuria and the northern part of the Korean peninsula between the late 7th century and the 10th century, occupying the center stage of the northern Korean history. It serves as a window to the East Asia in the present as well as in the past. Yet, due to its geography spanning from the North Korea to Kilin Province of China to part of Heilongjiang Province and to the Littoral Province of Siberia, Balhae has been the center of historical disputes among neighboring countries that insist it is part of each of their own history. China argues that it was a prefecture of the Tang Dynasty, established by the Mohe, not a successor to Goguryeo, which is a China-oriented viewpoint of history. In addition, Russia recognizes Balhae as their first-ever medieval feudal state since the Littoral Province is now under their sovereignty. Therefore, the restoration of Balhae history is in line with the veritable establishment of the ancient Korean history. For this, it is necessary to embrace inter-disciplinary achievements and to continue efforts to adopt them rather than to blame the shortage of historical documents and the difficulty of the excavation of relics. If fashion is "a visual symbol" of our society, beauty culture serve as a mirror to reflect our civilization and culture directly or indirectly. Still, it is not easy to draw similarities by analyzing and comparing the attributes of various cultures and civilizations party because the essence of culture lies in diversity. Nevertheless, it is believed that cultural liaison as well as geographical liaison can be a medium to compensate for the limits of the foreign exchange history of Southeast Asia in proving the relationship between Goguryeo and Balhae, by examining and speculating beauty culture that reflect their period. It was confirmed by various documents regarding Goguryeo out of relics, historical sites and documents. Mural paintings showed how the people of Balhae wore and accessorized themselves. They also allowed us to speculate their way of living. As the contemporary historians can assert that Balhae is part of the Korean history thanks to the realism scholars in the late Joseon Dynasty, who rediscovered the Balhae history and conducted practical researches, it is expected that researchers who study beauty culture contribute to completing the restoration of the Balhae history by thoroughly examining our history, costume and beauty culture.

I attempted to study the resolution of how I can show the essence of an original musical production to audience, the possibilities of how recreate impossible elements according to Korean musical environment because of cultural and linguistic differences, and verify the meaning of adjusting an original production to Korean one through directorial approaches to licensed musical production. I mainly exemplified 2009 Korean production (Charlotte Theatre, March ~ August, 2009) that I directed. The purpose that I wanted to analyze the case of Korean production mainly is able to prove a wide variety of possible challenges rather than simply licensed ones because the former was recreated in 30 years after the first original production. Recreation and coaching to acting through fine and precise analysis of an original production, Koreanizing Western culture of the licensed musical, resolving the problem of linguistic nuances are the important ways to direct licensed musical. For licensed musical director, cooperation with original creative team and Korean production company must be the most important job.

The aims this paper to examine Nietzsche's criticism on Paul's transvaluation of values. First, I will examine Socrates' transvaluation of values through which, Greek culture was deconstructed. He opened a path for the transvaluation of values before Paul and Nietzsche and reorganized Greek culture around his own values. I will also analyze the 'will to power' hidden behind Socrates' transvaluation of values. Second, I will examine the essence of the Paul's transvaluation of values. I will trace how Paul, through his transvaluation of values, could become the center of Christianity and, in turn, control European Culture. I will also show the difference between the teachings of Jesus and the arguments of Paul. Third, I will look at the Nietzsche's criticism on Paul's transvaluation of values. The key to Nietzsche's criticism on Paul is to evaluate Paul's transvaluation of values in terms of his will to power. And I will also look at the problems of Nietzsche's criticism on Paul. Fourth, I will look at Nietzsche's transvaluation of values. It is accomplished in such a way that he makes Socrates' and Paul's transvaluation of value alters. His transvaluation of values will be critically examined for strength in life and world understanding over Socrates' and Paul's transvaluation of values.
