Design and analysis of highly selective ultrawide stopband lowpass filter using lumped and distributed equivalent circuit models

  • An ultrawide stopband lowpass filter is reported using three stepped impedance resonators with high selectivity. The filter extends the stopband frequency range and attenuation, and two quarter-wave open stubs and three circular ground slots are introduced. The lumped and distributed equivalent models are derived and analyzed. The corresponding results are validated experimentally in a fabricated prototype. The prototype lowpass filter has a 3 dB cutoff frequency (fc) of 2.9 GHz, and the stopband is extended up to 35 GHz (12.07fc), with an attenuation level better than 20 dB throughout. The passband-to-stopband transition (3 dB-20 dB) bandwidth is 0.18 GHz, and the roll-off factor is 135 dB/GHz at 30 dB. The insertion loss is 0.3 dB at 1.6 GHz. The normalized circuit size of the proposed filter with respect to the guided wavelength is 0.04.

2-2형 압전복합체 제작 및 등가 물성 도출 (Fabrication of a 2-2 Mode Piezocomposite and Derivation of its Equivalent Properties)

  • 본 논문에서는 2-2형 압전복합체의 등가 물성 도출에 관해 연구하였다. 먼저 2-2 압전복합체의 특성 변화를 유한요소법으로 해석하였고, 해석 결과와 2-2 압전복합체 시제작품의 특성 측정 결과를 비교하여 유한요소해석의 타당성을 검증하였다. PZT-5H와 고분자재료로 구성된 압전복합체의 단일상 등가물성은 Asymptotic Averaging Method를 이용하여 도출하였고, 도출된 물성을 다양한 진동 모드의 단일상 공진자 유한요소 모델에 대입한 후 완전한 2-2 압전복합체와의 임피던스 스펙트럼 차이를 최소 자승법을 이용하여 보정함으로써, 도출된 등가 물성값의 정확성을 향상시켰다. 본 연구에서 도출한 2-2 압전복합체의 등가 물성은 향후 다양한 음향 센서의 설계에 유용하게 사용될 수 있을 것이다.

Time-Domain Analysis of Wireless Power Transfer System Behavior Based on Coupled-Mode Theory

  • In this paper, coupled-mode theory (CMT) is used to obtain a transient solution analytically for a wireless power transfer system (WPTS) when unit energy is applied to one of two resonators. The solutions are compared with those obtained using equivalent circuit-based analysis. The time-domain CMT is accurate only when resonant coils are weakly coupled and have large quality factors, and the reason for this inaccuracy is outlined. Even though the time-domain CMT solution does not describe the WPTS behavior precisely, it is accurate enough to allow for an understanding of the mechanism of energy exchange between two resonators qualitatively. Based on the time-domain CMT solution, the critical coupling coefficient is derived and a criterion is suggested for distinguishing inductive coupling and magnetic resonance coupling of the WPTS.

  • 본 논문은, '불균형 조건의 메타 재질 구조'를 이용하여 GSM 대역에서 불요파 억제와 효과적인 소형화를 얻는 새로운 대역 통과 여파기 설계 기법을 제시한다. 기존의 반파장 및 025배 파장 공진기 기반의 여파기들과 비교하여, 본 CRLH 여파기는 처음으로 제안되는 유도성 결합 inverter에 의해 0차 공진기들이 결합되고, 이것을 사용함으로써 40$\sim$50 dB 하모닉 억제 효과와 80 %율의 소형화 얻는데 위한 우수한 성능을 보여준다. 이 기법의 타당성이 등가 회로와 분산도의 도출과 함께 성능 예측과 실험을 통해 검증된다.

  • In this paper, we propose the methodology to make the bandpass filters for the Smart Grid IED(Intelligent Electronic Device) smaller than the conventional bandpass filters. The size-reduction of the filters and the filter performances are indebted to devising small CRLH(composite right- and left-handed) resonators and coupling them as the metamaterial structures. The design methodology is validated by the equivalent circuit to be compared with the reliable full-wave EM simulation, and the proposed metamaterial filter outperforms the standard parallel-edge coupled filter with respect to the miniaturization and frequency response.

Microstrip Lowpass Filter with Very SharpTransition Band Using T-Shaped, Patch, and Stepped Impedance Resonators

  • A compact microstrip lowpass filter (LPF) with an elliptic function response is proposed. A high equivalent capacitance and inductance between the structures of the resonator result in the sharp transition band of 0.04 GHz from 4 GHz to 4.04 GHz with an attenuation level of -3 dB and -20 dB, respectively. To improve the LPF rejection band, multiple open stubs are connected to the proposed resonator. A filter with a 3-dB cut-off frequency at 4 GHz is designed, fabricated, and measured, and agreement between the measured and simulated results is achieved. The results show that a stopband bandwidth of 131% with a suppression level better than -20 dB is obtained while achieving a compact size with a wide stopband.

  • 본 논문에서는 Whispering Gallery 모드 (이하 W. G. 모드) 공진기의 종진주파수 간격(Free Spectral Range : FSR)을 확장시키기 위한 새로운 형태의 복합공진기를 제안한다. 제안된 복합공진기는 두 개의 유전체 원판으로 구성되며, 복합공진기의 공진주파수는 두 개의 원판 각각의 공진 조건을 동시에 만족시키는 주파수가 되므로 공진주파수의 간격이 확장된다. 제안된 복합 공진기 이론으로 K-Band 원판공진기 및 유전체 도파로를 제작.실험으로 본 논문의 타당성을 밝힌다.

도파관 H 면 계단형 불연속 구조를 이용한 대이동과 여파기의 설계 (Design of Waveguide Bandpass Filters Using H-plane Step Discontinuities)

  • In this paper, waveguide banpass filters using H-plane step discontinuities are designed based on the field theory analysis and optimization of the resonator lengths as well as dimensions of discontinuities, instead of the conventional synthesis method based on the equivalent circuit. The waveguide inductive obstacles introduced by H-plane step discontinuities analyzed using mode-matching method and the generalized scattering parameters are derived. Using the derived scattering parameters of the discontinuities as well as those of resonators, waveguide bandpass filters are designed through optimization method, modified Razor search method proposed by J.H.Bandler. Using this design procedures, waveguide bandpass filters are designed and tested at X-band(center frequency 10GHz) as well as Ka-band(center frequency 35GHz).

UHF대역 가변 세라믹 대역통과 여파기의 설계 (Design of Tunable Ceramic Bandpass Filter in UHF Band)

  • 본 논문에서는 세라믹 동축 공진기와 Varactor Diode를 이용하여 800MHz~900MHz에서 2단 가변 대역통과 여파기를 설계 제작하였다. ABCD Parameter를 이용하여 $\pi$형 Inverter를 T형 등가회로로 변환하여 Varactor Diode 수를 2개로 최적화하였다. 가변대역은 800MHz~900MHz이며 삽입손실을 $405dB\pm0.5dB$ 이내 반사손실은 15dB 이상으로 설계하였다. 제작된 대역통과 여파기는 Simulation 결과와 잘 일치하였다.

Analysis of Magnetically Coupled Wireless Power Transmission for Maximum Efficiency

  • We have proposed and analyzed an equivalent circuit for a magnetically coupled wireless power transmission (WPT) system between two loop resonators by considering its coupling coefficient and radiation-related parameters. A complete formulation is provided for all the necessary circuit parameters. The mechanism of radiation loss is sufficiently explained. The circuit and electromagnetic (EM) simulation results have been shown to be in good agreement. Based on the proposed circuit formulation, a specific load impedance for maximum WPT efficiency was found to exist. The proposed modeling of the WPT in terms of circuit characterizations provides sufficient insight into the problems associated with WPT.
