PLASMA SOURCE ION IMPLANTATION OF NITROGEN AND CARBON IONS INTO CO-CEMENTED WC

  • In plasma source ion implantation, the target is immersed in the plasma and repetitively biased by negative high voltage pulses to implant the extracted ions from plasma into the surface of the target material. In this way, the problems of line-of-sight implantation in ion-beam ion implantation technique can be effectively solved. In addition, the high dose rate and simplicity of the equipment enable the ion implantation a commercially affordable process. In this work, plasma source ion implantation technique was used to improve the wear resistance of Co-cemented WC. which has been extensively used for high speed tools. Nitrogen and carbon ions were implanted using the pulse bias of -602kV, 25 sec and at various implantation conditions. The implanted samples were examined using scanning Auger electron spectroscopy and XPS to investigate the depth distributions of implanted ions and to reveal the chemical state change due to the ion implantation. The implanted ions were found to have penetrated to the depth of 3000$\AA$. The wear resistance of the implanted samples was measured using pin-on-disc wear tester and the wear tracks were examined with alpha-step profilometer.

크롬 도금한 유압 실린더 로드와 시일 사이의 미끄럼접촉 해석 (Sliding Contact Analysis between Chromium Plated Hydraulic Cylinder Rod and Seals)

  • The hydraulic cylinder seals are used not only to protect leakage of the working fluids but also to prevent incoming of foreign particles into the system. Chromium plating is generally applied to improve corrosion and wear resistance. It has been noticed that sealing surface damage occurs due to the hard foreign/wear particles contained in the hydraulic oil. In this study, a three-bodied sliding contact problem related with a PTFE seal, a spherical particle and chrome-plated steel substrate is modeled to investigate the relations to wear mechanism. Using the nonlinear finite element software, MARC/MENTAT, the deformed shapes, the von Mises and first principal stress distributions with plating thickness were compared. The sealing surface was mainly abraded by hard particles embedded in the seal. The plastic deformation of the steel substrate decreased with thicker plating. Hence it could be more effective to coat the sealing surface of a hydraulic cylinder with a hard material such as TiN, TiC and DLC.

타이어 마모성능 차이에 의한 타이어 마모입자 생성에 관한 기초 연구 (A Basic Study on the Generation of Tire & Road Wear Particles by Differences in Tire Wear Performance)

  • 본 연구에서는 타이어 마모성능에 따른 타이어 마모입자 생성량 및 도로변 미세먼지 물질로써 타이어 소재와 도로 포장체 구성 성분의 정량화 분석을 위한 기초적 연구를 수행하였다. 이에, 타이어 트레드 부위 고무의 가황제/가황촉진제의 사용비를 달리하여 고무배합물을 제조하였다. 제조된 고무배합물의 물성 평가 결과 가황제/가황촉진제의 사용비가 증가할수록 가교밀도는 감소하여 마모성능이 불리한 조건임을 확인하였다. 밀폐된 실내 마모시험기에서도 가교밀도가 감소할수록 타이어 마모입자 생성량은 증가하였고, 손실량 100% 대비 84~86%의 타이어 마모입자를 포집할 수 있었다. 타이어 마모입자 중, 96.4~97.7% 분산, 2.3~3.6% 비산되는 것으로 평가되었다. 포집된 타이어 마모입자의 화학분석 결과, 타이어의 마모성능에 따라 타이어 마모입자 내 타이어와 도로 구성 성분 비율(63 : 37 → 75 : 25)이 변화됨을 확인 할 수 있었다. 본 연구에서는 타이어 마모성능에 따라 타이어 마모입자 발생에 대한 영향성을 관찰하기 위하여 실제 도로 현장의 조건 대비 가혹한 실내 마모환경으로부터 실험을 수행하였다. 이에 타이어 마모입자 발생이 도로 포장체 성분보다 더 높은 함량으로 분석되었다. 추후 실제 도로 환경에서 완제품 타이어와 실제 차량을 이용하여 자동차 도로변 미세먼지 저감을 위한 실증화 연구 방법을 도출할 계획이다.

  • Electrical equipment for railway is always experiencing wear and degradation by mechanical, electrical and environmental stress in service and the fault or the accident of high voltage main circuit directly causes operation interruption. Particularly propulsion drive of high speed switching inverter takes the form of specific degradation mechanism such as fast rising transient surge, reflective overvoltage and harmonic stress, and it is known that it threatens the long life and the reliability of electrical equipment. In this paper, statistics of fault and accident on main electrical equipment for railway are presented and also insulation degradation mechanism, which governs end life of electrical device, is analyzed. Finally the method of fault respondence and reliability improvement on the main electrical equipments will be reviewed in order to prevent operation interruption.

  • Deficiencies in wear and frost resistance as well as mechanical strength constitute the main causes of equipment failure under the harsh climatic conditions of the Earth's polar regions. To improve the properties of the materials used in this equipment, nanoparticle composites have been prepared from clays such as kaolinite, hectorite, and montmorillonite in combination with polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) or ultrahigh molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE). A number of techniques have been proposed to disperse silicate particles in PTFE or UHMWPE polymer matrices, and several successful processes have even been widely applied. Polymer nanocomposites that exhibit enhanced mechanical and thermal properties are promising materials for replacing metals and glass in the equipment intended for Arctic use. In this article, we will review PTFE- and UHMWPE-based layered silicate nanocomposites.

A study on Detecting the Safety helmet wearing using YOLOv5-S model and transfer learning

  • Occupational safety accidents are caused by various factors, and it is difficult to predict when and why they occur, and it is directly related to the lives of workers, so the interest in safety accidents is increasing every year. Therefore, in order to reduce safety accidents at industrial fields, workers are required to wear personal protective equipment. In this paper, we proposes a method to automatically check whether workers are wearing safety helmets among the protective equipment in the industrial field. It detects whether or not the helmet is worn using YOLOv5, a computer vision-based deep learning object detection algorithm. We transfer learning the s model among Yolov5 models with different learning rates and epochs, evaluate the performance, and select the optimal model. The selected model showed a performance of 0.959 mAP.

  • In this paper, we introduce a model for detecting Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) using YOLO (You Only Look Once), an object detection neural network. PPE is used to maintain a safe working environment, and proper use of PPE protects workers' safety and health. However, failure to wear PPE or wearing it improperly can cause serious safety issues. Therefore, a PPE detection system is crucial in industrial settings.

  • With the recent development of intelligence and automation technologies for construction machinery, the demand for safety and efficiency of road-cutting operations has continued to increase. In response to this, a double-blade road cutter has been developed that can automatically cut roads. However, a double-blade road cutter has a load difference between the two blades due to the ground and wear conditions of the cutting blades. The difference in load between the two blades distorts the direction of travel of the cutter. In this study, a vision sensor-based driving guide technology was developed to correct the driving path of road cutters. In addition, we developed a load-sensing technology that detects blade loads in real-time and controls driving speed in the event of overload.

실제 도로 주행과정에서 타이어와 도로의 마찰에 의해서 발생하는 미세입자의 특성연구 (The Properties of Roadway Particles from the Interaction between the Tire and the Road Pavement)

  • A large fraction of urban $PM_{10}$ concentrations is due to non-exhaust traffic emissions including road dust, tire wear particles, and brake lining particles. Although potential health and environmental impacts associated with tire wear debris have increased, few environmentally and biologically relevant studies of actual tire wear debris have been conducted. Tire wear particles (TWP) are released from the tire tread as a result of the interaction between the tire and the pavement. Roadway particles (RP), meanwhile, are particles on roads composed of a mixture of elements from tires, pavements, fuels, brakes, and environmental dust. The main objective of present study is to identify the contribution of tires to the generation of RP and to assess the potential environmental and health impacts of this contribution. First, a mobile measurement system was constructed and used to measure the RP on asphalt roads according to vehicle speed. The equipment of the mobile system provides $PM_{10}$ concentrations by Dusttrak DRX and number density & size distribution measurements of fine and ultra-fine particles by a fast mobility particle sizer (FMPS) and an aerosol particle sizer (APS). When traveling on an asphalt road at constant speed, there is a clear tendency for $PM_{10}$ concentration to increase slightly in accordance with an increase in the vehicle speed. It was also found that considerable brake wear particles and particles from tire/road interface were generated by rapid deceleration of the vehicle. As a result, the $PM_{10}$ concentration and particle number of ultra-fine particles were measured to be very high.

고무 소재의 슬러리 마모 거동에 관한 연구 (The Study on the Slurry Wear Behavior of Rubber Vulcanizates)

  • 슬러리와 접하는 환경에서 사용되는 고무 소재의 슬러리 마모 거동을 평가하기 위해 새로운 형태의 슬러리 마모시험기(Slurry Wear Tester; SWT)가 본 연구에서 제안되었다. 슬러리 마모 거동을 평가하기 위한 기본 매트릭스로 천연고무(NR)와 클로로프렌고무(CR)가 선정되었다. SWT 장치의 챔버를 채우기 위한 유체로는 35% HCl 용액과 NaCl 용액이 사용되었다. SWT의 결과는 기존의 고무 마모시험 방법들중의 하나인 건식 상태에서 시험이 진행되는 Akron 마모시험의 결과와 비교를 하였다. Akron 마모 시험의 결과에 따르면 CR이 NR 보다 더 빠른 속도로 마모가 됨을 알 수 있었으며 재료의 히스테레시스 특성이 마모에 영향을 미침을 알 수 있었다. 그러나 SWT 결과에 따르면 CR과 NR의 슬러리 마모거동은 큰 차이가 없었으며 더구나 산의 농도와 HCl 용액과 NaCl 용액에 침지된 시간에 따라서도 슬러리 마모속도에는 큰 영향이 없었다. 이는 슬러리에 포함된 유체가 마모지와 시편 사이의 마찰을 감소시켰기 때문이라고 사료되었다. 또한 Akron 마모 시험의 경우 고무 소재의 히스테레시스가 마모에 영향을 미쳤지만, SWT의 경우 유체는 반복 변형에 의해 발생되는 열을 감소시키고 마모지 표면에 남아있는 마모 찌꺼기들을 제거하였기 때문에 Akron 마모 시험의 결과와는 다른 결과를 나타내었다. 따라서 슬러리에 의한 고무 소재의 마모를 평가하는데 있어서 기존의 방식인 건식방법으로 마모 거동을 평가할 경우 잘못된 결과를 초래할 수 있음을 알 수 있었다.
