채널 유동에서 점성이 단일 입자 혼합 유동의 suspension에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Fluid Viscosity on the Suspension of a Single Particle in Channel Flow)

  • Suspension of a single solid particle in a channel flow with a constant pressure gradient is studied numerically. The interaction of a circular particle with a surrounding Newtonian fluid is formulated using a combined formulation. Numerical results are presented using two dimensionless variables: the sedimentation Reynolds number and the generalized Froude number. From the present results, it has been shown that a solid particle is suspended at a smaller generalized Froude number as the viscosity of the surrounding fluid increases. The time taken for equilibrium position is found to be smaller as fluid viscosity increases when both : the sedimentation Reynolds number and the generalized Froude number are the same while, at the same situation, the dimensionless time taken for equilibrium position is to be nearly the same regardless of fluid viscosity when a dimensionless time variable is introduced

DENSITY DEPENDENT MORTALITY OF INTERMEDIATE PREDATOR CONTROLS CHAOS-CONCLUSION DRAWN FROM A TRI-TROPHIC FOOD CHAIN

  • The paper explores a tri-trophic food chain model with density dependent mortality of intermediate predator. To analyze this aspect, we have worked out the local stability of different equilibrium points. We have also derived the conditions for global stability of interior equilibrium point and conditions for persistence of model system. To observe the global behaviour of the system, we performed extensive numerical simulations. Our simulation results reveal that chaotic dynamics is produced for increasing value of half-saturation constant. We have also observed trajectory motions around different equilibrium points. It is noticed that chaotic dynamics has been controlled by increasing value of density dependent mortality parameter. So, we conclude that the density dependent mortality parameter can be used to control chaotic dynamics. We also applied basic tools of nonlinear dynamics such as Poincare section and Lyapunov exponent to investigate chaotic behaviour of the system.

고압하에서의 전지의 기전력과 열역학적 성질 (The Electromotive Force and Thermodynamic Properties of the Cell at High Pressure)

  • 종래의 방법으로 고압하에서 전지의 표준기전력 $(E^{\circ})$를 산출하는 것은 불가능하다. 그러나 완전평형상수의 개념을 종래의 Nernst 방정식에 적용하므로서 고압하에서 표준기전력을 구할 수 있게 되었다(완전 Nernst방정식). 더욱이 다른 열역학적 성질 이를테면 수화수의 순변화(k), 용매의 압축을(${\beta}$), 전지반응에서 종래의 해리상수(K) 평형상태에서 표준자유에너지변화(${\Delta}G^{\circ}$) 표준엔탈피변화(${\Delta}H^{\circ}$) 및 표준엔트로피변화($S^{\circ}$) 등을 얻었다. 본 실험에서는 전지의 기전력(E)을 $20{\sim}35^{\circ}C$와 1∼2500 atms 범위에서 측정하였다. 일정한 온도에서 전지의 기전력은 압력이 증가함에 따라 증가하였으며, 일정한 압력에서 온도가 증가함에 따라 역시 증가하였다. 전지반응의 수화수의 순변화(k)는 $20^{\circ}C$에서 41.96으로서 압력에 따라 변하지 않고 일정한 값을 유지하였으나 한편 K와 ${\Delta}S^{\circ}C$는 압력에 따라 증가하였으나 ${\Delta}G^{\circ}$${\Delta}H^{\circ}$는 감소하였다. 고압하에서도 완전 Nernst방정식으로부터 표준기전력을 계산할 수 있으므로 상압에서와 마찬가지로 화학평형론을 취급할 수 있게 되었다

Environmentally Assisted Cracking of Alloys at Temperatures near and above the Critical Temperature of Water

  • Physical properties of water, such as dielectric constant and ionic product, significantly vary with the density of water. In the supercritical conditions, since density of water widely varies with pressure, pressure has a strong influence on physical properties of water. Dielectric constant represents a character of water as a solvent, which determines solubility of an inorganic compound including metal oxides. Dissociation equilibrium of an acid is also strongly dependent on water density. Dissociation constant of acid rises with increased density of water, resulting in drop of pH. Density of water and the density-related physical properties of water, therefore, are the major governing factors of corrosion and environmentally assisted cracking of metals in supercritical aqueous solutions. This paper discusses importance of "physical properties of water" in understanding corrosion and cracking behavior of alloys in supercritical water environments, based on experimental data and estimated solubility of metal oxides. It has been pointed out that the water density can have significant effects on stress corrosion cracking (SCC) susceptibility of metals in supercritical water, when dissolution of metal plays the key role in the cracking phenomena.

Modified Ammonia Removal Model Based on Equilibrium and Mass Transfer Principles

  • Yoon et $al.^1$ presented an approximate mathmatical model to describe ammonia removal from an experimental batch reactor system with gaseous headspace. The development of the model was initially based on assuming instantaneous equilibrium between ammonia in the aqueous and gas phases. In the model, a "saturation factor, $\beta$" was defined as a constant and used to check whether the equilibrium assumption was appropriate. The authors used the trends established by the estimated $\beta$ values to conclude that the equilibrium assumption was not valid. The authors presented valuable experimental results obtained using a carefully designed system and the model used to analyze the results accounted for the following effects: speciation of ammonia between $NH_3$ and $NH^+_4$ as a function of pH; temperature dependence of the reactions constants; and air flow rate. In this article, an alternative model based on the exact solution of the governing mass-balance differential equations was developed and used to describe ammonia removal without relying on the use of the saturation factor. The modified model was also extended to mathematically describe the pH dependence of the ammonia removal rate, in addition to accounting for the speciation of ammonia, temperature dependence of reactions constants, and air flow rate. The modified model was used to extend the analysis of the original experimental data presented by Yoon et $al.^1$ and the results matched the theory in an excellent manner.

TSK퍼지 시스템의 안정도 해석 (Stability Analysis of TSK Fuzzy Systems)

  • 본 논문에서는 넓은 범위의 비선형 시스템들을 잘 표현할 수 있는 TSK(Takagai Sugeno Kang) 퍼지 시스템의 평형점의 지역 안정도를 해석하는 방법을 제시한다. TSK퍼지 모델은 TSK퍼지 규칙들로 구성되며, 각 규칙의 결론부는 상수항을 갖는 선형 입출력 방정식이다. TSK퍼지모델은 다수의평형점을 가질수 있으며, 각 평형점은 안정도에 있어서 역시 서로 단른 특징을 가질수 있다. 평형점의 지역 안정도는 평형점 부근에서 TSK퍼지 모델의 선형화로 얻어지는 자코비안 행렬의 교유치에 의해 결정된다. 본 논문에서는 연속시간 및 이산시간 시스템에 대한 안정도 해석을 위한 방법이 각각 제시된다.

  • This article involves a unified treatment of equilibrium thermodynamics of the chemical reaction coupled with other interfacial (phase boundary) reactions. The modified (restrictive) chemical potential ${\mu}_k^+$, such as electrochemical potential, hydrostatic-chemical (mechanochemical) potential (exceptionally in the presence of the pressure difference) and surface-chemical potential, was first introduced under the isothermal and isobaric conditions. This article then enlightened the equilibrium conditions in case where the release of chemical energy is counterbalanced by the supply of electrical energy, by the supply of hydrostatic work (exceptionally in the presence of ${\Delta}p$), and finally by the release of surface energy, respectively, at constant temperature T and pressure p in terms of the modified chemical potential ${\mu}_k^+$. Finally, this paper focussed on the difference between chemical and electrochemical equilibria based upon the fundamentals of the isothermal and isobaric equilibrium conditions described above.

도시 대기중에서 $NH_4NO_{3(s, aq)}-HNO_{3(g)}-NH_{3(g)}$의 평형에 관한 연구(II) (A Study on Equilibrium of $NH_4NO_{3(s, aq)}-HNO_{3(g)}-NH_{3(g)}$ in Urban Atmosphere)

  • Theoretical prediction of the equilibrium of temperature and relative humidity dependance involving $HNO_{3(g)}-NH_{3(g)}$ and $NH_4NH_{3(s, aq)}$ was compared with atmospheric measurement of particulate nitrate$(NO_3^-)$, Ammonia-Nitric Acid partial pressure product $([$NH_{3(g)}][HNO_{3(g)}]ppb^2$) by a triple filter pack sampler from Oct 1991 to July 1992. The measured $HNO_3NH_3$ concentration product K was greater than equilibrium constant $K_p$ calculated from thermodynamic data of $NH_4NO_{3(s, aq)}-HNO_{3(g)}-NH_{3(g)}$ during fall, winter and spring. But K was lower than $K_p$ in summer. K was greater than $K_p$ as the result of supersaturation by air pollution, particularly anthropogenic $NH_3$.The reason of $K < K_p$ was due to removal of particulate nitrate$(NO_3^-)$ by rainout and washout. $NH_4NO_3$ which consists mainly of particulate nitrate is formed by reaction between $HNO_3$ and $NH_3$. As a result of the removal of particulate nitrate$(NO_3^-)$ by rainout and washout, concentrations of $HNO_3$ and $NH_3$ are decreased by equilibrium transfer(Le Chatelier's Law) in atmosphere.

대칭 모드 아치의 준-해석적 테일러 해와 동적 안정성 (Dynamic Stability and Semi-Analytical Taylor Solution of Arch With Symmetric Mode)

  • In this study, we investigated the dynamic stability of the system and the semi-analytical solution of the shallow arch. The governing equation for the primary symmetric mode of the arch under external load was derived and expressed simply by using parameters. The semi-analytical solution of the equation was obtained using the Taylor series and the stability of the system for the constant load was analyzed. As a result, we can classify equilibrium points by root of equilibrium equation, and classified stable, asymptotical stable and unstable resigns of equilibrium path. We observed stable points and attractors that appeared differently depending on the shape parameter h, and we can see the points where dynamic buckling occurs. Dynamic buckling of arches with initial condition did not occur in low shape parameter, and sensitive range of critical boundary was observed in low damping constants.

정온하에서 Methanol/3-methy-1-butanol계에 대한 기-액 평형치의 추산 (The Prediction of Vapor-Liquid Equilibrium Data for Methanol/3-methyl-1-butanol System at Constant Temperature)

  • 이성분 methanol/3-methyl-1-butanol계에 대하여 정온하 즉 50, 55 60, 65 및 $70^{\circ}C$에서의 기-액평형치를 측정하고, 그 측정치를 이용하여 기-액평형치를 추산하는 추산식을 이끌어 내었다. 측정치와 추산치를 비교 검토한 결과 기상조성의 몰분율은 ${\pm}0.0007$의 오차범위 내에서 잘 일치하고, methanol/3-methyl-1-butanol계에 대한 과잉 몰부피를 측정한 결과 전체 조성범위에서 양의 편차를 나타내며 최대치는 x= 0.683에서 $0.096cm^3/mol$로 나타났다.
