  • The development of excitation control system (ECS) for emergency diesel generator in nuclear power plant is the replacement project of existing control system to resolve the maintenance problems caused by aging and obsolescence, The excitation control system is classified as a safety-related system. To guarantee the performance of developing excitation control system is equal to or higher than that of other systems, establishing the quality assurance scheme, doing software verification and validation activities, and planning equipment qualification. In this paper, we'd like to introduce the equipment qualification of excitation control system.

  • This paper deals with the maximum output power generation using the Dounly Fed Induction Generator(DFIG) in the super-synchronous speed regions, by control of both magnitude and phase of the voltage fed to the rotor. Steady-state algebraic equations of the euivalent circuit are solved using numerical analysis. For the normal operating region, in which the generator ratings are not exceeded, rotor current is less than or equal to the rated value. By selecting the permisible rated current at rotor coil, there are the optimal solution existng which covers the magnitude and phase of the injected voltage to the rotor for the given slip. This optimal solution is pointing out how the maximum output power can be carried out.

  • In this paper, a new approach that is based on EEAC & only with network solutions for CS&S in the transient stability assessment is developed. The proposed CS&S algorithm in conjunction with EEAC to include the capability of performing on-line TSA without TDS is used to calculate the critical clearing time for stability index. In this algorithm, all generators are represented by classical models and all loads are represented by constant impedance load models. The accelerating & synchronizing power coefficient as an index is determined at its disturbance through solving network equation directly. As mentioned above, a new index for generator is generally used to determine the critical generators group. The generator rotor angle is fixed for non-critical generators group, but has equal angle increments for critical generators group. Finally, the critical clearing time is calculated from the power-angle relationship of equivalent OMIB system. The proposed CS&S algorithm currently being implemented is applied to the KEPCO system. The CS&S result was remarkably similar to TSAT program and SIME. Therefore, it was found to be suitable for a fast & highly efficient CS&S algorithm in TSA. The time of CS&S for the 139 contingencies using proposed CS&S algorithm takes less than 3 seconds on Pentium 4, 3GHz Desktop.

  • A segment of the wave board has been expressed as a submerged line segment in the two dimensional wave flume. The lower end of the line segment could be extended to the bottom of the wave flume and the other opposite upper end of the board could be extended to the free surface. It is assumed that the motion of the wave board could be defined by the sinusoidal motion in horizontal direction on either end of the wave board. When the amplitude of sinusoidal motion of the wave board on lower and upper end are equal, the wave board motion could express the horizontally oscillating submerged segment of piston type wave generator. The submerged segment of flap type wave generator also could be expressed by taking the motion amplitude differently for the either end of the board. The pivot point of the segment motion could play a role of hinge point of the flap type wave generator. Simplified analytic solution of oscillating submerged wave board segment in water of finite depth has been derived through the first order perturbation method at two dimensional domain. The case study of the analytic solution has been carried out and it is found out that the solution could be utilized for the design of wave generator with arbitrary shape by linear superposition.

  • Accurate measurement of the reactivity worth of safety rods is very important for the safe reactor operation, in normal and emergency conditions. In this paper, the reactivity worth of safety rods in Heavy Water Zero Power Reactor (HWZPR) in the new lattice pitch is measured by advanced source jerk method. The average of the results related to two different detectors is equal to 29.88 mk. In order to verify the result, this parameter was compared to the previously measured value by subcritical to critical approach. Different experiment results are finally compared with corresponding calculated result. Difference between the average experimental and calculated results is equal to 2.2%.

  • This paper presents an algorithm generating inverse element over finite fields $GF(3^{m})$, and constructing method of inverse element generator based on inverse element generating algorithm. A method computing inverse of an element over $GF(3^{m})$ which corresponds to a polynomial over $GF(3^{m})$ with order less than equal to m-l. Here, the computation is based on multiplication, square and cube method derived from the mathematics properties over finite fields.

  • The purpose of this paper is to provide technical background, techniques and actual diesel engine signature analysis evaluation result. Engine signature analysis(ESA) is a process for monitoring the material condition of diesel engine using external sensors, eliminating the need to periodically disassemble the engine. ESA is also used to balanced the engine. Engine balancing is the process of tuning the engine so that all cylinders carry equal load. ESA is a useful tool to non-intrusively determine the operability and performance and assessment of the material condition of internal component of a diesel engine.

  • The Jeju power grid experienced several major power disturbances over the last decade. The postmortem studies of the incidents indicated that some of the generating units did not respond as predicted by system analysis & studies. Consequently, the Korean Power Exchange (KPX) mandated that all units (generators, excitation, governor and turbine systems) in the Korean network greater than or equal to 20MVA be tested to verify the generator reactive power limits as well as the dynamic model data being used for system studies. This paper presents field experiences of the authors in testing and modeling of steam turbines and their associated governors during the generator and model validation.

  • In this paper, application of PTCM to 2FSK / 4PSK signals is studied. The generator polynomial of punctured trellis coded 2FSK / 4PSK, metric computation techniques, decoding complexity considerations are provided. Simulation results shows that PTCM of 2FSK / 4PSK archieves equal coding gain in com- parison to Padovani and Wolf's system with less decoding complexity.

  • This paper considers the model predictive control (MPC) problems in nonlinear processes or systems. The MPC method determines the control law such that the predicted output based on the identified process model is equal to the reference output which consists of both the process output at current time and the setting value called as the command generator. In this paper, the nonlinear MPC software for a chemical reactor is developed and analized from the point of view of practical applications.
