The ultrasonic non-destructive testing uses the directivity of the ultrasonic pulse wave which propagates in one direction. The directivity is expressed as the relationship between the propagate direction and its sound pressure. The directivity of ultrasonic wave is closely related to determination of probe arrangement, testing sensitivity, scanning pitch and defect location and characterization. The paper measured the directivity of shear wave, which reflected from artificial defect located in weld metal zone in butt welded joint similar model made of pyrex glass by using visualization method. 2 MHz and 4 MHz angle probes were used to measure the directivity of reflection wave at the artificial defect. The directivity of shear waves reflected from the defect was different according to the probe position and the shape of butt welded joint. The difference of directivity of reflection wave was existed between 2 MHz and 4 MHz angle probes. The angle of reflection wave became equal to angle of incidence as increase of the height of excess metal.

In order to know cephalometric norms for the preschool children, this roentgeno cephalometric study was undertaken in each 50 Korean male and female children of primary dentition age from 4 to 5 year. The following results were obtained. 1. In the skeletal analysis, there was no significant difference between male and female in angular measurement and the linear measument of the male was generally greater than that of the female. 2. Saddle angle was $122.3^{\circ}$, articular angle was $147.6^{\circ}$, gonial angle was $119.4^{\circ}$ and the sum of each angle was $396.1^{\circ}$ in male and $396.6^{\circ}$ in female. 3. The ratio of mandibular body to anterior cranial base was about 1 : 0.91. 4. In the primary dentition, suggested that the nasion and point A move forward relative to sella turcica in a fashion, pogonion and point B are equal in angular position relative to plan S-N, bony chin and chin button was yet underdeveloped, and the forward growth of mandible was seen rapid than maxilla after 4 years. 5. Suggested that the percentage of anterior facial height to the posterior facial height were 64.4% in male and 64.1% in female. 6. Maxillary primary incisors was more upright than the permanent incisors, mandibular primary incisors was inclined lingually relative to the permanent incisor, and primary incisors was more upright than the permanent incisors. 7. Maxillary primary incisors in female was inclined labially than male. 8. In the the relationship of the upper lip and lower lip to the esthetic line, the upper lip was 2.11mm and the lower lip was 2.33mm front of the esthetic line.
The major error factors that degrade the efficiency of coherent beam combining (CBC) are numerically studied in a comprehensive manner, paying particular attention to phase, tip-tilt, polarization angle, and beam quality. The power in the bucket (PIB), normalized to the zero-error PIB, is used as a figure of merit to quantify the effect of each error factor. To maintain a normalized PIB greater than or equal to 95% in a 3-channel CBC configuration, the errors in phase, tip-tilt, and polarization angle should be less than 1.06 radians, 1.25 ㎛, and 1.06 radians respectively, when each of the three parameters is calculated independently with the other two set to zero. In a worst-case scenario of the composite errors within the parameter range for the independent-95%-normalized-PIB condition, the aggregate effect would reduce the normalized PIB to 83.8%. It is noteworthy that the PIB performances of a CBC system, depending on phase and polarization-angle errors, share the same characteristic feature. A statistical approach for each error factor is also introduced, to assess a CBC system with an extended number of channels. The impact of the laser's beam-quality factor M2 on the combining efficiency is also analyzed, based on a super-Gaussian beam. When M2 increases from 1 to 1.3, the normalized PIB is reduced by 2.6%, 11.8%, 12.8%, and 13.2% for a single-channel configuration and 3-, 7-, and 19-channel CBC configurations respectively. This comprehensive numerical study is expected to pave the way for advances in the evaluation and design of multichannel CBC systems and other related applications.
Micro hydraulic power generation of which the output is less or equal to a 100kW is attracting considerable attention. This is because of its small, simple, renewable, and abundant energy resources. By using a small hydropower generator of which main concept is based on using the different water pressure levels in pipe lines, energy which was initially wasted by use of a reducing valve at the end of the pipeline, is collected by turbine in the hydropower generator. A propeller shaped hydroturbine has been used in order to use this renewable pressure energy. In this study, in order to acquire basic design data of tubular type hydraulic turbine, output power, head, efficiency characteristics due to the flow coefficient are examined in detail. Moreover influences of pressure and velocity distributions with the variations of runner vane angle on turbine performance are investigated by using a commercial CFD code.

This study investigates cavity flows through a guide grill above a resonator. Vortex distributions and intake flows are simulated for various shapes of the guide grill. The flows are assumed to be compressible, unsteady, and turbulent. Numerical simulations are conducted using a large eddy simulation (LES) model. To analyze the effect of the guide grill shape, three cavity lengths (0.2H, 0.6H, and 1.0H) and cavity angles ($30^{\circ}$, $45^{\circ}$ and $60^{\circ}$) are considered based on resonator height (H). The results show that the vortex generated in the resonator by cavity flow increases with cavity length. Thus, the intake flow is minimum at the smallest cavity length and angle. However, when cavity length is equal to resonator height, the intake flow decreases. The maximum intake flow occurs at a cavity angle $45^{\circ}$ at higher cavity lengths owing to the interaction between the vortex in the resonator and intake flow.

We propose a new photorefractive demultiplexer(DMUX) for WDM communicaytion system using a wavelength selectivity and demultiplexing properties of a volume holographic grating filters formed in $LinbO_3$ crystal doped with 0.015wt.% Fe. The wavelength selectivity properties of the filter are analyzed and experimentally investigated as a function of the following parameters : the crossing angle of the two writing beams, the reading-beam angle and writing-beam size. In addition, applying these wavelength selectivity properties and the multiplexing technique for recording multiple-exposure filters with equal diffraction efficiency, some preliminary experimental results are presented for use as DMUX.

After we experiment one direction fiber reinforced composites$(\theta\;=\;0^{\circ},\;J=1)$ to the X direction$(\theta\;=\;0^{\circ},\;J=1)$, we can say that fiber orientation efficiency and fiber orientation angle efficiency become lower. It is because the more the fabric is orientated in a equal direction with one direction fiber floor the more the load given from the exterior becomes shear rather than tension, even though one direction fiber floor gets the most of the exterior power. when fiber content ration is $10wt\%$, the fiber reinforcement efficiency of J=0.3 is similar with the fiber reinforcement efficiency of $\theta=30^{\circ}$ We also found that the fiber reinforcement efficiency of J=0.2 is similar with the fiber reinforcement efficiency of $\theta=20^{\circ}$ in case of $20wt\%$.
This paper presents an implementation of selective harmonic elimination (SHE) modulation for a single-phase 13-level transistor-clamped H-bridge (TCHB) based cascaded multilevel inverter. To determine the optimum switching angle of the SHE equations, the Newton-Raphson method is used in solving the transcendental equation describing the fundamental and harmonic components. The proposed SHE scheme used the relationship between the angles and a sinusoidal reference waveform based on voltage-angle equal criteria. The proposed SHE scheme is evaluated through simulation and experimental results. The digital modulator based-SHE scheme using a field-programmable gate array (FPGA) is described and has been implemented on an Altera DE2 board. The proposed SHE is efficient in eliminating the $3^{rd}$, $5^{th}$, $7^{th}$, $9^{th}$ and $11^{th}$ order harmonics, which validates the analytical results. From the results, it can be seen that the adopted 13-level inverter produces a higher quality with a better harmonic profile and sinusoidal shape of the stepped output waveform.

Porous silicon materials have been shown to have bright prospects for applications in light emitting, solar cell, as well as light- and chemical-sensing devices. In this report, structures of porous silicon prepared by anodic etching in HF-based solution with various etching times were studied in detail by Atomic Force Microscopy and Small Angle X -ray Scattering technique using the high energy beam line at Pohang Light Source in Korea. The results showed the coexistence of the various pores with nanometer and submicrometer scales. For nanameter size pores, the mixed ones with two different shapes were identified: the larger ones in cylindrical shape and the smaller ones in spherical shape. Volume fractions of the cylindrical and the spherical pores were about equal and remained unchanged at all etching times investigated. On the whole uniform values of the specific surface area and of the size parameters of the pores were observed except for the larger specific surface area for the sample with the short etching time. The results implies that etching process causes the inner surfaces to become smoother while new pores are being generated. In all SAXS data at large Q vectors, Porod slope of -4 was observed, which supports the fact that the pores have smooth surfaces.
In deep mixed rock strata, a double shield TBM (DS-TBM) is easy to be entrapped by a large force during tunneling. In order to reduce the probability of the entrapment, we need to investigate a favorable driving direction, either driving with or against dip, which mainly associates with the angle between the tunneling axis and strike, ${\theta}$, as well as the dip angle of rock strata, ${\alpha}$. We, therefore, establish a 3DEC model to show the changes of displacements and contact forces in mixed rock strata through LDP (longitudinal displacement profile) and LFP (longitudinal contact force profile) curves at four characteristic points on the surrounding rock. This is followed by a series of numerical models to investigate the favorable driving direction. The computational results indicate driving with dip is the favorable tunneling direction to reduce the probability of DS-TBM entrapment, irrespective of ${\theta}$ and ${\alpha}$, which is not in full agreement with the guidelines proposed in RMR. From the favorable driving direction (i.e., driving with dip), the smallest contact force is found when ${\theta}$ is equal to $90^{\circ}$. The present study is therefore beneficial for route selection and construction design in TBM tunneling.
