  • The organic farming was begun with principles and values like environmental friendliness, symbiosis, and cooperation and circulation. And there has cut keen market competition, as sales and market size of organic agricultural products have been much larger. Thus producers and consumers have kept up with the market trend making light of the philosophy and principle of organic agriculture. So cases of fraud or false certification have been increased since 2010. Accordingly, not a few consumers have distrusted of the safety of organic agricultural products. And the status of organic agriculture has shown downward trend and market size of organic agricultural products has been reduced since 2012. Thus the income of organic agricultural farmers hasn't been increased. It is thought that present organic agriculture fell into the crisis. Now, organic agricultural farmers should practice farming methods based upon the philosophy and principle of organic agriculture in order to overcome its crisis.

  • With the recent increase in maintenance works on water and sewer pipes as well as district heating supply pipes, pavement cutting work using pavement cutter is on the rise. The pavement cutting operation generates considerable dust (cutting sludge) as well as noise; therefore, it is necessary to apply eco-friendly technologies that have low noise and dust recovery capability. Thus far, various equipment for recovering dust have been developed; however, there is a limitation in that the environmental friendliness is not quantified. Therefore, in this study, we developed a low-noise, dust-recovery type pavement cutter that can fundamentally remove the causes of environmental hazards such as noise and dust and evaluated the eco-friendliness of the pavement cutting process performed by this cutter. To this end, an integrated water cooling-sludge recovery system composed of a vacuum device and a sludge suction unit was developed, and the developed system was applied to a pavement cutter. Subsequently, the developed equipment was applied to the test bed, and data related to its eco-friendliness were collected and evaluated. The results showed that the cutting sludge recovery rate of the developed equipment was greater than 83%, the noise level was approximately 82 - 83 dB, and the sound power level was 115 dB. The results of this study will be used as basic data to develop improved pavement cutters in the future with improved cutting sludge recovery performance and lower noise.

  • In the modern era, the elementary schools in the Republic of Korea are advanced with the competitive world. Thus advancement in technology, and other factors in the elementary schools are releases some kind of particulate matter (PM), which causes deleterious effects on school students health, academic program, growth and development. The school students are susceptible to PM particularly, PM10 and PM2.5. Based on this hazardous effect of PM on school students we conducted the research on the elementary schools class rooms by introducing vertical gardening system to get the schools "ever green". The main aim of this study is to investigate the environmental factors in the educational effect program in the class rooms and indoor air quality changes. For the educational effect, the 4th operation program was applied to 2 schools for 2 hours once a month from September to December 2019. Each school conducted a survey on satisfaction, plant friendliness, and environmental sensibilities, targeting classes that participated in the green school program and those who did not. The environmental effects were monitored by installing indoor air quality facility in the program participating classes and the non-participating classes. From November 2019 to December 2019, three factors were measured: PM10, PM2.5, and humidity. The results were analyzed by T-test using the SPSS 24.0 software program. As a result of the analysis, student's overall satisfaction with the program and their intention to re-engage were high in terms of educational effect. It was also found to be effective in emotional, educational, social, and physical aspects. In particular, it was found that there was a statistically significant effect on improving plant friendliness in terms of plant friendliness and environmental sensitivity. In terms of environmental effects, it was found that there was a significant difference between the program-applied and non-programmed classes in PM10, PM2.5, and humidity. Through this study, it was confirmed that the plant education program using vertical gardens is effective in both the educational effect and the improvement of indoor air quality in the classroom. In conclusion, vertical gardening system in the elementary schools should implement for the beneficial of young generation development and back bone to the nation.

  • The trends of green growth and eco-friendliness came to be the core development indicator for the sustainable global environment. Korean government reflected these trends in the main flows of the national development index, and suggested diverse directions for green construction technologies and high quality construction environment through Third master plan for construction environment. However, the efforts to follow these trends during the construction process as a step for production phrase are not being considered enough yet. In this study, we identified the basic environmental management factors in order to enhance the eco-friendliness of public housing construction sites, and suggested the reasonable conducting parties and process for those respective factors. The results of this study are expected to be the valuable reference in defining the required activities and participants' responsibilities, and improving the work process for systematic on-site environmental management. In applying those results, the discussion should be followed on the executing party of each unit activity and the responsibility assignment for each process. At the same time, the legislation and standard related to environment need to be essentially amended. In the future, the method of evaluating the environmental management activities, and the technical solution to environmental problems are to be reviewed as a further research for successful environmental management.

  • This study aimed to determine eco-friendly factors on the aspects of library service, materials provided or handled by the library, and programs including educational programs. Furthermore, it was setup to perform a trial evaluation for the eco-friendliness of the library based on the determined evaluation standards by this study. Results are as follows; First, regarding the question of 'Do employees of the library think that establishment of green libraries is necessary?', the employees of the libraries responded yes by 65.52%, but only 4.6% responded that it would not be necessary. Second, in analyzing the most important evaluation areas of green libraries according to the opinions of the libraries' employees, they were ranked in order: the indoor environment, energy and prevention of environmental pollution, and material and resource areas. Third, 11 areas were determined to evaluate the level of greening in the libraries; the highest averages were scored 510 for the area of energy and prevention of environmental pollution, 415 for the area of library resource, and 320 for the area of indoor environment. Last, the libraries were graded based on actual data according to the results to measure the level of greening, two libraries were graded as Diamond, the highest grade, accounting for 15.39% of all libraries; Gold and Silver grades accounted for another 15.39%, together five Certified graded libraries accounted for 38.46%, which was the highest rate among the libraries. Any library scoring less than 20% when compared to the full score was graded as Non-certified, and one library, which scored 15.06% fell into this category. • Since Seoul city supplied 'Sangsang Children's Park', domestic children's parks are changing from formal facilities to creative play space recently. From eco-friendly safe playground model development project, the awareness of eco-friendly playground, namely children's park is increasing and its necessity is magnified. However, we could not know how well most children's parks aimed at the eco-friendly playground reflect eco-friendly features and whether they are eco-friendly or not because there are not the specific planning guidelines and evaluation standards for making the eco-friendly playground or children's park. Therefore, in this study we established the environment-friendliness evaluation standards of children's parks and estimated the environment-friendly features of the 9 parks built on the subject of green among Sangsang Children's Parks. In the observational survey of the 9 parks, we evaluated the environment-friendliness of these parks in the 8 fields(location and placement, ecological environment, play space, play equipment and facilities, additional facilities, materials and resources, energy saving, environmental load reduction) according to the levels(suitable, partial reflection, unsuitable, non-reflection) of reflection of eco-friendly planning factors. The assessment results showed that 4 items (location and placement, additional facilities, play space, play equipment and facilities) were suitable and others (energy saving, environmental load reduction, ecological environment, materials and resources) were partial reflection or unsuitable. Therefore, on the basis of these results, this study proposed the planning indicators to be considered first and the planning factors that should be complemented and improved in the construction of eco-friendly children's park in future.
