고결모래의 콘선단저항과 미소변형전단탄성계수 관계 (Relationship between Cone Tip Resistance and Small-Strain Shear Modulus of Cemented Sand)

  • This study evaluates the relationship between cone tip resistance ($q_c$) and small-strain shear modulus ($G_{max}$) of cemented sand. For this purpose, a series of miniature cone penetration and bender element tests are performed in calibration chamber specimens with various gypsum contents. Experimental results show that both $q_c$ and $G_{max}$ of sand increase with increasing cementation level as well as relative density and vertical confining stress. However, the relative density and vertical confining stress has more significant influence on $G_{max}$ and $q_c$ of uncemented sand than those of cemented sand. It is observed that the $G_{max}/q_c$ ratio of cemented sand decreases with increasing relative density. This result means that state variables have more affect on $q_c$ than $G_{max}$ of cemented sand. Test results also show that the effect of vertical stress on $G_{max}-q_c$ relation is reduced by cementation effect.

화재에 의한 지하공동구의 온도 및 응력해석 (Temperature and Stress Analysis of Box Culvert in Fire)

  • This paper has presented a finite element analysis of structural behaviour of box culvert during and after fires. The fire tests were carried out in a furnace on RC slabs using the ISO 834 standard fire curve. The load capacity after cooling of the RC slab that was not loaded during the fire tests was evaluated by means of additional 3 points bending tests. In the past, stress-strain models of concrete under fire loading have been proposed by several researchers. Comparisons are made with the load-displacement relations of RC slabs after fire loading using the existing stress-strain models with temperature, such as Schneider, EUROCODE 2, Lie, Shi and Nan model. By comparing the load-displacement relations, Lie model was found to result in a maximum load about 2.0% higher than that of test. Based on the fire test results of RC slabs, this paper presents an extensive analytical study on the fire response of box culvert during and after fires.

음악중재가 간이식 환자의 환경 스트레스와 수면의 질에 미치는 효과 (The Effects of Music Intervention on Environmental Stress and Sleep Quality in Patients with Liver Transplantation)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine effects of music intervention on environmental stress and sleep quality in liver transplant patients who are receiving care in one-person isolation rooms of an ICU. Methods: The study was a quasi-experimental design pre-and-post nonequivalent control group. Participants were 37 patients (18 in the experimental group and 19 in the control group) who, after receiving liver transplant, were hospitalized in one-person isolation rooms of the ICU. The study covered patients admitted between August 2016 and December 2017. Earplugs and sleep shades were provided as ordinary care to both experimental and control groups, and music intervention was provided to the experimental group three times a day for 30 minutes each from the first day of hospitalization. Results: The first hypothesis, "The experimental group who received music intervention will experience a lower environmental stress level than the control group" was supported (Z=-3.212, p<.001). The second hypothesis, "The experimental group who received music intervention will experience a higher sleep quality than the control group" was also supported (t=3.715, p=.001). Conclusion: Findings show that music intervention is an effective nursing intervention to reduce environmental stress and improve sleep quality in liver transplant patients in the ICU.

정보제공 방법에 따른 중환자 가족의 환경적 스트레스와 간호요구 만족도 (The Effects of the Different Information Delivery Methods on Environmental Stress and the Satisfaction of Nursing Needs in Families of ICU Patients)

  • Purpose: This study was conducted to evaluate the effects of different methods of information delivery(information provided by nurses vs. information provided by video) on environmental stress and the satisfaction of nursing needs in families of intensive care unit patients. Methods: A nonequivalent pretest-posttest control group design was used in this study. The data were collected from March 24 to May 7, 2009. The subjects, 52 family members of ICU patients (26 for the control group, 26 for the experimental group), were selected from a hospital located in Gyeonggido. Information was given by video to the experimental group whereas the information was directly given by nurses to the control group. Results: Environmental stress and satisfaction of nursing needs were not statistically different between the two groups. Conclusion: The findings of the study suggest that the information given by video may be compatible with that given by nurses. Therefore, nurses need to be flexible in using these different methods to maximize the benefits of direct and indirect information delivery method for families in ICU setting.

셰일저류층의 다단계 수압파쇄에서 응력그림자 효과를 고려한 균열형태 분석 (Analysis of Hydraulic Fracture Geometry by Considering Stress Shadow Effect during Multi-stage Hydraulic Fracturing in Shale Formation)

  • 투과성이 낮은 셰일층에서의 다단계 수압파쇄 시, 파쇄단계 간의 서로 근접한 균열로 인해 지층 간 응력간섭이 발생하는 '응력그림자효과'가 나타날 수 있다. 이로 인해 균열의 전파 방향성이 변화하거나 비정형적인 형태의 균열이 발생하게 된다. 본 연구에서는 응력그림자효과의 영향에 따른 수압파쇄 균열형태와 생산성을 분석하고자 상용 수압파쇄 시뮬레이터 full-3D모델인 'GOHFER'를 사용하였다. 균질한 저류층 모델에서 응력그림자효과 고려 유무에 따른 분석을 수행하였다. 또한 지력학적 물성이 다른 두 셰일층에서 수압파쇄 모델링을 수행하여 영률과 포아송비에 따른 응력그림자효과를 분석하였다. 선행 파쇄단계의 균열로 인한 응력변화는 최대/최소 주응력을 역전시켜 T-방향보다는 생산성이 미비한 L-방향 균열이 주로 형성되었다. 또한 Marcellus 셰일의 경우 연성 특성을 갖는 Eagle Ford 셰일에 비해 높은 취성으로 인해 균열의 폭이 더 두껍게 형성되어 균열 체적이 더욱 크게 산출되었다. Marcellus 셰일지층의 영률이 Eagle Ford 셰일에 비해 크게 낮기 때문에 stage 2에서 응력그림자효과의 영향을 적게 받는 것을 확인할 수 있었다. 이처럼 응력그림자효과는 균열 간의 간격 뿐만 아니라 지력학적 물성에 따라서도 크게 달라진다. 그러므로 좀 더 정확한 균열 형태와 현실성 있는 생산성 예측하기 위해 응력그림자효과는 고려되어야 한다.

Proline Accumulation in Vigna angularis Seedlings Under Salt Stress

  • Changes in the proline accumulation of ten-day-old seedlings of Vigna angularis in response to NaCl treatment were monitored. The proline content increased gradually both with an increase in the exposure time to salt stress and in a concentration-dependent manner. The increased proline accumulation was stronger in the shoots than in the roots. The salt stress by itself resulted in a significant inhibition of the chlorophyll content. Pre-treatment with proline before salinization lasting 48 h did not significantly affect the endogenous proline level in the roots, in contrast, a considerable increase of proline was observed in the shoots. The application of exogenous proline to the seedlings increased the endogenous proline content and improved the root and shoot growth under saline conditions. Detached leaves also exhibited an increased proline level in response to the applied NaCl, however, at a lower magnitude than in the intact seedlings. The proline alleviated the inhibitory effect of the NaCl in a concentration-dependent manner, thereby suggesting that salinity is a strong inducer of proline accumulation. In addition, abscisic acid eliminated the inhibitory effect of the salt salinity, thereby indicating a protective role on salinity stress and a regulatory role in proline synthesis. Accordingly, it would appear that proline may be involved in salt tolerance.

Superoxide Dismutase와 Ascorbate Peroxidase를 엽록체에 과발현하는 형질전환 담배의 수분스트레스에 대한 반응 (Responses of Transgenic Tobacco Plants Overexpressing Superoxide Dismutase and Ascorbate Peroxidase in Chloroplasts to Water Stress)

  • To assess resistance of transgenic tobacco plants which overexpress superoxide dismutase (SOD) and ascorbate peroxidase (APX) in chloroplasts to water stress, changes in leaf water potential, turgor potential, stomatal conductance and transpiration rate were measured. Leaf water potential in all plants remained high up to day 4 after withholding water but thereafter decreased markedly. In spite of a remarkable decrease in leaf water potential, some of transgenic plants maintained higher turgor potential compared with control plant on day 12. In particular, the transgenic plant expressing MnSOD showed an outstanding maintenance in turgor pressure by osmotic adjustment throughout the experiment, resulting in high stomatal conductance and transpiration rate. However, among transgenic plants, osmotic potential was reduced more effectively in multiple transformants such as the double transformant expressing both MnSOD and APX, and the triple transformant expressing CuznSOD, MnSOD and APX than single transformants. Consequently, further research is needed to get general agreement on the tolerance of transgenic plants to water stress at different growth stages for each transgenic plant.

Proline accumulation and transcriptional regulation of proline biothesynthesis and degradation in Brassica napus

  • To understand the molecular mechanism underlying proline accumulation in Brassica napus, cDNAs encoding ${\Delta}^1$-pyrroline-5-carboxylate synthetase (BnP5CS), ornithine $\delta$-aminotransferase (BnOAT) and proline dehydrogenase (BnPDH) were isolated and characterized. Southern blot analysis of BnP5CSs in B. napus and its diploid ancestors suggested a gene loss may have occurred during evolution. The expression of BnP5CS1 and BnP5CS2 was induced, while the expression of BnPDH was inhibited under salt stress, ABA treatment and dehydration, prior to proline accumulation. The upregulation of BnOAT expression was only detected during prolonged severe osmotic stress. Our results indicate that stress-induced proline accumulation in B. napus results from the reciprocal action of activated biosynthesis and inhibited proline degradation. Whether the ornithine pathway is activated depends on the severity of stress. During development, proline content was high in reproductive organs and was accompanied by markedly high expression of BnP5CS and BnPDH, suggesting possible roles of proline during flower development.

First, variables that affect the value orientation of Korean urbanite are sex, area of dwelling, degree of information using and degree of stress recognition in case of material orientation, degree of information using in case of environmental orientation, academic career, sex, degree of information using, degree of stress recognition in cases of fate control orientation, number of children, sex, degree of information using in case of equilibrium orientation, sex, degree of stress recognition in case of present orientation and academic career, degree of stress recognition in case of individualistic orientation. Second, value orientation variables that affect overall home management strategy of Korean urbanite are material orientation, environmental orientation, fate control orientation and individualistic orientation. Third, variables that affect overall home management strategy of Korean urbanite are age, academic career, degree of information using, degree of stress recognition, perception level of living relative to others, environmental orientation and fate control orientation and it is shown that degree of information using is domineering variable.
