Shear-fatigue behavior of high-strength reinforced concrete beams under repeated loading

  • The purpose of this experimental study is to investigate the damage mechanism due to shear-fatigue behavior of high-strength reinforced concrete beams under repeated loading. The relationship between the number of cycles and the deflection or strain, the crack growths and modes of failure with the increase of number of cycles, fatigue strength, and S-N curve were observed through a fatigue test. Based on the fatigue test results, high-strength reinforced concrete beams failed at 57-66 percent of static ultimate strength for 2 million cycles. The fatigue strength at 2 million cycles from S-N curves was shown as about 60 percent of static ultimate strength. Compared to normal-strength reinforced concrete beams, fatigue capacity of high-strength reinforced concrete beams was similar to or lower than fatigue capacity of normal-strength reinforced concrete beams. Fatigue capacity of normal-strength reinforced concrete beams improved by over 60 percent.

  • One of the important advantage of adhesive bonded joint can combine the different materials. The joint that bonded by structural adhesive bond must keep a large force and its strength is affected by some environmental factors such as temperature and submergence time in water. In order to advance the fatigue strength of adhesive bonded joint, mostly put a surface treatment on the surface. This study was researched the effect of air temperature, submergence time, submergence temperature and surface treatment on the fatigue strength. We found that submergence temperature has the most effect and low plasma treatment specimens have the most fatigue strength.

Fatigue experiment of stud welded on steel plate for a new bridge deck system

  • This paper presents push-out tests of stud shear connectors to examine their fatigue behavior for developing a new composite bridge deck system. The fifteen push-out specimens of D16 mm stud welded on 9 mm steel plate were fabricated according to Eurocode-4, and a series of fatigue endurance test and residual strength test were performed. Additionally, the stiffness and strength variations by cyclic loading were compared. The push-out test, when the stiffness reduction ratio of the specimens was 0.95 under cyclic load, resulted in the failure of the studs. The stiffness variation of the push-out specimens additionally showed that the application of cyclic loads reduced the residual strength. The fatigue strength of the shear connectors were compared with the design values specified in the Eurocode-4, ASSHTO LRFD and JSSC codes. The comparison result showed that the fatigue endurance of the specimens satisfies the design values of these codes.

F13T급 고장력볼트를 이용한 마찰연결부 피로강도에 관한 실험적 연구 (Experimental Study on Fatigue Strength of Slip-Critical Splices using F13T High Strength Bolts)

  • 일반적으로 각국의 강구조물 시공현장에서 사용되고 있는 고장력볼트의 인장강도는 1,000 MPa급이 주종을 이루고 있으나, 고강도강과 극후판의 개발 및 보급과 강교량 건설기술의 발전에 따른 교량 지간의 장대화로 인하여 강도가 큰 새로운 볼트 개발이 요구되어 왔다. 따라서, 본 연구에서는 새롭게 개발된 F13T급 고장력볼트를 이용하여 마찰계수에 따른 마찰연결부 피로실험을 수행하여 피로강도를 평가하였다. 결과적으로 피로실험결과 마찰연결부의 피로강도 B등급을 만족하였다. 또한, 마찰연결부의 피로파단에 대해서 분석하였다.

  • 손상된 철근콘크리트 보를 모의하기 위해 사전균열을 발생시킨 후, GFRP Bar와 GSP 매입공법으로 보수하여 피로실험을 수행하였다. 피로실험 결과, 실험보는 피로하중 초기 싸이클에서 대부분의 잔류처짐과 균열이 발생하고 싸이클 수에 따른 이들의 증가율은 미미하였다. 보수보의 정적강도는 보수하지 않은 보에 비해 크게 증가하였지만, 피로강도는 감소하였다. S-N 곡선에서, GFRP Bar 보수보의 피로강도는 정적강도의 58%, GSP 보수보의 피로강도는 52%였다.

A fuzzy residual strength based fatigue life prediction method

  • The fatigue damage problems are frequently encountered in the design of civil engineering structures. A realistic and accurate fatigue life prediction is quite essential to ensure the safety of engineering design. However, constructing a reliable fatigue life prediction model can be quite challenging. The use of traditional deterministic approach in predicting the fatigue life is sometimes too dangerous in the real practical designs as the method itself contains a wide range of uncertain factors. In this paper, a new fatigue life prediction method is going to be proposed where the residual strength is been utilized. Several cumulative damage models, capable of predicting the fatigue life of a structural element, are considered. Based on Miner's rule, a randomized approach is developed from a deterministic equation. The residual strength is used in a one to one transformation methodology which is used for the derivation of the fatigue life. To arrive at more robust results, fuzzy sets are introduced to model the parameter uncertainties. This leads to a convoluted fuzzy based fatigue life prediction model. The developed model is illustrated in an example analysis. The calculated results are compared with real experimental data. The applicability of this approach for a required reliability level is also discussed.

FEM에 의한 일반냉연강판 및 고장력강판의 점용접 피로수명해석 (Fatigue Life Analysis of Spot Weldment of Cold Rolled and High Strength Steel Using FEM)

  • Cold rolled and high strength steel were used for vehicle bodys to satisfy environmental regulation and improve fuel ratio. This paper presented a method far determining the fatigue life of cold rolled steel sheet EZNCEN and high strength steel sheet HS40R spot weldment used in vehicles. We can estimate the fatigue life of the spot weldments from the MSC/FATIGUE using the finite element method. The maximum load is found in the nugget part of both surfaces. The cold rolled steel and the high strength steel showed the maximum stress 746MPa and 730MPa in the effective nugget part when the weld current was 8KA and 7KA, respectively. Also the some weld current of the cold rolled steel and high strength steel is applied, the fatigue life of high strength steel is obtained about four times longer than the cold rolled steel.

  • Recently, HIPS(High Impact Polystyrene) materials are spot-lighted as office equipment, home electronics, electronics appliances housing, packing containers, etc. But its using are occur to problem caused by fatigue fracture. However, its strength is larged affected by environmental conditions. So, in this paper it tried to analyze the effect of temperature by tensile test and fatigue test. It was observed that yield strength and ultimate strength, fatigue life of same stress decreased relatively with increase temperature. Further, this paper predict S-N curve using the result of tensile test and micro vickers hardness test. For this purpose, the management in the engineering department is able to design the fatigue life of HIPS(HR-1360) materials.

고장력볼트의 인장피로강도에 관한 실험적 연구 (Experimental Study on Tensile Fatigue Strength of the High Strength Bolts)

  • 각국의 강구조물 시공현장에서 사용되고 있는 고장력볼트의 인장강도는 일반적으로 1,000 MPa급이 주종을 이루고 있으나, 고강도강과 극후판의 개발과 교량 지간의 장대화로 인하여 강도가 큰 새로운 볼트 개발이 요구되고 있다. 한편, 반복적인 하중이 작용하는 곳에서 인장연결부에 사용되는 고장력볼트에 인장피로파괴 사례가 발생되고 있으나 아직까지 우리나라에서는 이에 대한 이론 및 실험적인 연구가 없는 실정이다. 따라서, 본 연구에서는 현재 일반적으로 사용하고 있는 F8T, F10T볼트와 새로이 개발된 F13T, F13T-N볼트에 대해서 인장피로실험을 수행하였다. 고장력볼트에 대한 피로강도평가는 반복횟수 200만회에 95% 하한신뢰도분석을 하여 수행하였고, 이를 기초로 3가지의 피로강도 기준안을 제시하였다. 또한, KS나사형상의 볼트와 새로이 제안된 나사선 형상의 볼트에 대한 피로강도에 대해서 비교 검토하였다.

  • 본(本) 논문(論文)에서는 휨하중을 받는 콘크리트의 피로특성 및 피로신뢰성이 연구(硏究)되었다. 콘크리트보에 대한 피로실험이 수행되었으며, 피로하중은 4 점하중 상태로 작용되었다. 본(本) 실험결과(實驗結果)로부터 S-N 관계가 얻어졌으며, 콘크리트의 휨피로 강도를 예측하기 위한 공식(公式)이 도출되었다. 또한 본(本) 논문(論文)에서는 콘크리트의 휨피로에 대한 확률론적 해석방법이 제안되었다. 본(本) 연구결과(硏究結果) 콘크리트의 피로거동을 서술하는 데는 Weibull 분포가 적절한 것으로 나타났다.
