The Effect of Sport Drink Ingestion on the Physical Fatigue Level and Heart Rate during Prolonged Exposure in Hot Ambient Temperature in Professional Golfers (장시간 고온 환경 노출시 수분의 섭취가 프로골프선수들의 신체피로도 및 심박수에 미치는 영향)

  • We investigated the effects of prolonged exposure in hot environmental condition and ingestion of fluid on various physiological variables including plasma glucose, lactate, the rating of perceived exertion (RPE), and heart rate as well as golf putting performance. Six male professional golfers were voluntarily participated in three different putting trials which were separated by seven days of time interval period. Three different putting trials were conducted at either 20℃ or 32℃, or 32℃ + Fluid ingestion. Performing 32℃ + Fluid ingestion trial, all subject ingested sport drink as much as their body mass was decreased. For each experiment, all subjects were undertaken total 48 putting, which separated by four x 12 putting in four different time points (i.e., Rest, 1 hr, 2 hr, and 3 hr). Plasma glucose concentration was significantly decreased with hot ambient condition but it was almost fully recovered by fluid ingestion. Plasma lactate concentration was significantly higher when subjects were exposed in hot environmental condition, and it did not change with fluid ingestion. There was a no different in putting performance and psychological fatigue level (performed by GRID test) at any environmental conditions. The RPE, commonly used for evaluating of physical fatigue level, was significantly dropped by fluid ingestion which indicates lower physical fatigue level. In addition to this, heart rate (HR) was also significantly decreased after fluid ingestion. Based on these results, it was concluded that the ingestion of fluid during prolonged exposure in hot ambient condition decrease the degree of physical fatigue levels and heart rate, which will possibly improve the golf performance when exposed in extreme weather condition in summer.   • This study was carried out to investigate the effect of the difference of dietary compositions and environmental conditions on the growth and development of silkworm. The results obtained are as follows: 1. The more amount of soybean meal of diet was added, the more duration of the larval period was shortened. But Fifty percent increase of the amount of protein of diet leongthened the duration of larval period. 2. Fifth percent addition of the soybean meal to the diet does not influence the silkworm mortality, Whereas more than that gives rise to the adverse effect on the silkworm mortality. 3. The cocoon quality was significantly affected by the difference of dietary compesition. 4. In the environmental condition the duration of larval period was shortened in the high temperature and the dark condition. 5. The silkworm mortality was increased in the high temperature and the light condition. 6. The cocoon quality was significantly affected in the high temperature and the dark condition.

Effect of the Permeability of Excavation Wall on the Earth Pressure in a Jointed Rock Mass

  • The magnitude and distribution of earth pressure on the excavation wall in jointed rock mass were examined by considering different wall permeability conditions as well as rock types and joint inclination angles. The study was numerically extended based on a physical model test (Son & Park, 2014), considering rock-structure interactions with the discrete element method, which can consider various characteristics of rock joints. This study focused on the effect of the permeability condition of excavation wall on the earth pressure in jointed rock masses under a groundwater condition, which is important but has not been studied previously. The study results showed that the earth pressure was highly influenced by wall permeability as well as rock type and joint condition. Earth pressure resulted from the study was also compared with Peck's earth pressure in soil ground, and the comparison clearly showed that the earth pressure in jointed rock mass can be greatly different from that in soil ground.

  • The study exploited TAO system for the treatment of piggery slurry and aimed to draw characteristics and conditions of the reactor by differentiating the number of air input pump and foam cutter. The results are: 1. Under different operation condition, Run-3 with three air input pumps and four foam cutters showed the highest efficiency in the change of water level and temperature; 40-70cm and 45-55$^{\circ}C$, respectively. 2. Evaporation volume in Run-3 was the highest; 55.5l/$m^2$ . day in Run-1, 75.0/$m^2$ . day in Run-2, and 120.3/$m^2$ . day in Run-3. 3. Throughout the experimental period, temperature inside the reactor was maintained at around 5$0^{\circ}C$, regardless of seasonal temperature changes.

  • In this study, an optimization technique was developed from the application of allocation rule. The results obtained from the water supply analysis and reliability indices analysis of Andong dam and Imha dam which are consist of parallel reservoir system are summarized as the followings; Allocation rule(C) is effective technique at the parallel reservoir system because results of the water supply analysis, storage analysis and reliability indices analysis is calculated reasonable results. Also, reliability indices analysis results are not sufficient occurrence based reliability or quantity based reliability. Thus reliability indices analysis are need as occurrence based reliability, quantity based reliability vulnerability, resilience, average water supply deficits and average storage. And water supply condition is better varying water supply condition than constant water supply condition.

A Study on Microbial Degradation for Removal of Toluene Vapour by Biofilter (Bio 필터를 이용한 Toluene 제거에서 미생물분해에 관한 연구)

  • A biological filter for treatment of toluene among volatile organic compounds was studied. The investigation was conducted using specially built stainless steel columns packed with granular activated carbon and cold for removal of toluene. The G.A. and mold as filter material was also coated with Pseudomonas putida microorganisms.The biofilter unit was operated in the condition of moisture content vairation at gas loading rate of 12.5 l/min. Gaseous toluene taken from tedlar bag was analyzed by the use of G.C equipped with F.I.d detector. The removal efficiency of gaseous toluene was 95% at average inlet concentration of 950 ppm during bio-degradation operating condition. Effective removal efficiency was obtained with moisture content 27.5% at activated carbon and 32% at mold in this study. The effective operating condition were obtained with pH 6-8, temperature 28-42℃ for microbial degradation at gas loading rate of 12.5 l/min in packed material.

Separation of Cr(VI) from Heavy Metal Salts Mixed Solution by using Hollow Fiber Module (실관막모듈에 의한 중금속염 혼합용액으로부터 Cr(VI) 분리)

  • This work reports the application of a hollow fiber module(HFM) for Cr(VI) extraction from heavy metal salts mixed solution by using microporous hydrophobic hollow fiber module. In HFM configuration, the organic extraction used for the extraction of Cr(VI) was di-(2-ethyl hexyl) phosphoric acid(D2EHPA) diluted with n-heptane. The study of HFM includes the influence of hydrodynamic and chemical condition, i.e., the flow rate of feed solution, the time of reactive extraction, the concentration of feed solution, and the pH of aqueous phase solutions. Several experiments with synthetic solution of different mixed components system of Cr(VI) solutions established optimum condition to achieve a clean separation of Cr(VI). It was possible to separate Cr(VI) in the presence of metal salts mixed solution, such as Zn(II), Ni(II), Cu(II), and Cd(II) using the HFM technique.

  • In this paper, a current condition analysis of a certified environmentally-friendly school and a school forest demonstration school was made to understand how they have developed effective ecological environments and examine their specific technical methods for ecological planning. After taking into account the differences and current situations of the two types of schools this paper will present an effective method for the suitable implementation ecological environmental projects in domestic schools.

Active vibration control of smart composite structures in hygrothermal environment

  • The composite materials may be exposed to environmental (thermal or hygral or both) condition during their service life. The effect of environmental condition is usually adverse from the point of view of design of composite structures. In the present research study the effect of hygrothermal condition on the design of laminated composite structures is investigated. The active fiber composite (AFC) which may be utilized as actuator or sensor is considered in the present analysis. The sensor layer is used to sense the level of response of the composite structures. The sensed voltage is fed back to the actuator through the controller. In this study both displacement and velocity feedback controllers are employed to reduce the response of the composite laminate within acceptable limit. The Newmark direct time integration scheme is employed along with modal superposition method to improve the computational efficiency. It is observed from the numerical study that the laminated composite structures become weak in the presence of hygrothermal load. The response of the structure can be brought to the acceptable level once the AFC layer is activated through the feedback loop.

  • In this study, intended to high flight condition test, air flow test and environmental condition test of Small-sized Gas Turbine (including auxiliary power utility - APU) improve preexisting large size test stand C-9N(SCIAM) in Russia. In the process of developing C-9N test stand, this study includes conceptual design approach. This test stand consists of environmental condition, thermostat, cooling/drying, thrust measuring system and SAR (system of automatic regulation).
