The purpose of this study is to find out the tendency of the new generation’s consumer roles and green consumption behavior for the environmental conservation. This study is also to reveal some fundamental information for an environmental education program which si able to support the new generation consumers to participate voluntarily in an environmental activity. The 500 subjects of this study were selected from the new generation consumers who wre residing in Seoul, 1998. The 414 data wre finally analyzed by Mean, t-Test, ANOVA, and Multiple Regression Analysis. The major findings were as follows: 1) the purchasing roles of the new generation consumer tended to be higher than the citizen participation’s roles. The variables with the higher score for the new generation’s green consumption behavior were in the rank of the isolation of environmental waste, the purchasing behavior of green product, the recycling environmental resource, and citizen’s participating roles in environmental activity. 2) the new generation’s consumer roles showed a significant differences, according to variables for the environmental value, environmental education, and participation of the environmental and societal activity 3) the green consumption behavior for the new generation consumers showed a significant differences, according to sex, environmental value, participation of the environmental and societal activity. 4) the most influential variables for the green consumption behavior of the new generation consumers were in the rank of consumer roles, educational values, and the participation of the environmental activity. As we see above, the consumer education for the new generations needs to focus on consumer’s roles that let them participate voluntarily in environmental and societal activity, as well as practice positively to use green environmental products whenever they select some items in the markets.
This study categorizes consumers by the style of consumers' purchase behavior, and examines the differences in consumers' attitudes toward environment and pro-environmental behavior in the stage of purchase, usage, and disposal. The results of this study are summarized below: First, The style of consumers' purchase behavior can be categorized on a basis of four factors: fashioned-demonstrative consumer group focusing on fashion and demonstration effects when purchasing; rational consumer group more likely to concern price, quality, and product function; indifferent consumer group having no interest in purchasing; and fashioned-functional consumer group who values not only fashion but function. Second, the result of investigating the differences of consumers' attitudes toward environment reveals that the level of concern and awareness for environment is highest in rational consumer group, but lowest in indifferent consumer group. Also, it is higher in fashioned-functional consumer group than in fashioned-demonstrative consumer group. Lastly, the level of pro-environmental behavior in the stage of purchase, usage, and disposal is highest in rational consumer group, but lowest in indifferent consumer group. The level of pro-environmental behavior in usage stage is inactive in fashioned-demonstrative consumer group, whereas that in disposal stage is active in fashioned-functional consumer group for fashioned-demonstrative consumer group. It was so, especially in the area of not-being-a-litterbug.
The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of social norms and personal ethics on recycling behavior. For this purpose, survey data from four hundred and fifty seven individuals were collected and analyzed using an SPSS program. The major findings were as follows: First, social norms had a positive impact on personal ethics and recycling behavior. Second, personal ethics significantly affected recycling behavior. Third, awareness of the consequences of recycling behavior (AC) and ascription of responsibility for environmental problems(AR) did not significantly translate personal ethics into actual recycling behavior. Fourth, ascription of responsibility for environmental problems(AR) and awareness of consequences of recycling behavior(AC) affected recycling behavior. These results suggest that in order to encourage recycling behavior, it is necessary to inform and educate the public so as to enhance social norms and personal ethics.
This study is mainly concerned with providing a basis for children's prosocial behavior development. The objective of this study is to investigate the factors affecting children's prosocial behavior. The Main two factors affecting children's prosocial behavior development are home environmental and social cognitive ability, and concrete variables in these factors are as follows : 1) Home environmental factor; parental warmth, parental restrictiveness and inductive reasoning and prosocial modeling. 2) Social cognitive factor ; children's role taking ability and empathic ability and with these, several situational variables are also concerned with prosocial behavior.

As environmental concerns continue to grow, green supply chain management (GSCM) is attracting attention as an element of competitive advantage for companies. This study examined internal GSCM practices to show how they influenced the end-point of the supply chain from the perspective of the end-consumer. It identified the effects of environmental concerns on consumer purchasing behavior mediated by the company image of internal GSCM practices. Data were collected through an email survey of Korean consumers. Reliability and validity were verified using SPSS 18.0. Cronbach's alpha, and confirmatory factor analysis. The results showed that environmental concerns had a positive impact on such practices, and the image of internal GSCM practices was found to have a significantly positive effect on consumer purchasing behavior. Companies will have to actively reflect environmental factors in their operational activities, and GSCM implementation will become a necessity. A positive image of internal environmental management and eco-design, which are key elements of internal GSCM practices, strengthened the company's eco-friendly image and ultimately affected consumer purchasing behavior. This suggests that it is important for companies to evaluate their environmental attitude and make eco-friendly products from a consumer's perspective, making it a differentiation strategy for a company in building an eco-friendly corporate image.
The purpose of this study was to analyze the role of perceived market influence, which is an important psychological factor influencing consumer behavior in the market, and explain how consumer beliefs related to the market can affect sustainable consumer behavior. First, this study found that gaps in perceived market influence were statistically significant for age and job. Second, environmental concern, organic food consumption (vegetables and meats), and purchase behavior of organic foods were found to be significantly different by degree of perceived market influence of consumers. The mean values were found to be high for the group having strong perceived market influence. This tendency suggests an association between higher perceived market influence consumers and more environmentally friendly consumer behavior. Lastly, this study used Structural Equation Modeling to analyze the effect of perceived market influence as a moderating variable and mediating variable on the relationship between environmental concerns and consumer behavior toward organic foods. The results show a mediating effect on perceived market influence, but a moderating effect could not be found. This result implies that perceived market influence might indirectly affect consumer behavior when transferring environmental concerns to consumer behavior toward organic foods.
The main purpose of this research was to examine the variables that influence environment-friendly management behaviors of family resources. For this study, environment-friendly management behaviors were classified into four categories: buying, using, recycling and disposal. Another purpose of this study was to find out the levels of environmental education, environmental knowledge, and environmental consciousness among household managers. In order to determine the levels, a structured survey questionnaire was administered and data were collected from 391 housewives who live in Seoul and Jeonju. The results show that environmental consciousness and environmental knowledge affected buying and disposal behavior. There was a significant difference in using behavior by the degree of environmental consciousness. The variables that affected recycling behavior were environmental education and environmental consciousness. The level of environmental awareness was highest in ! environmental consciousness, second highest in environmental knowledge, and lowest in environmental education.
The purpose of this study are to measure the overall level of consumer consciousness and behavior on environmental problems of high school girl students and to analyze the most influential factors related to the socio-demography and the education on environment. This study also aims at inspiring the students with sound view of environments and furnishing basic data for the development of consumer education program. The researcher used questionnaires on consumer consciousness scale and consumer behavior scale for the purpose of this study. 640 students were surveyed randomly in Kwangju and Chonnam, and 608 questionnaires were selected as final analysis data. Major Findings were as follows: 1. The average score of consumer consciousness and behavior on environmental problems of the high school girls were 86.0 on scale of 110 (72.7 on scale of 100) and 63.3 on scale of 115(43.8 on scale of 100). 2. The consumer consciousness and behavior on environmental problems of the high school girls showed partial differences according to the socio-demography variable. 3. The consumer consciousness and behavior on environmental problems of the high school girls showed partial differences according to the education to environment variables. 4. The consumer behavior on environmental problems had a positive relationship with the consumer consciousness. 5. The most influential variables on the consumer consciousness were necessity of the education on environment, the type of school, region, and monthly allowance money in sequence. And the most influential variables on the consumer behavior were the campaign on environment in home, participation in environment preservation, cosciousness of environment, and education experience on environment in sequence. This study focuses on analyzing children's behavior from an integrated systemic perspective of the space and time and presenting a criterion and a guide of children-centered environmental color for intensifying their behavior affordance while considering functions of the space and color. Research was conducted as follows. Based on the spatial function and children's behavior, it figured out a prerequisite of educational environmental colors for behavior affordance. It extracted colors by dividing children's behavior affordance into 8elements considering a psychology of expectation and color function according to spatial and behavior affordance intensification elements. So 97school colors were selected for children's behavior affordance from abstracted colors by each element. Furthermore, it planned to suggest an environmental color guide for establishing elementary school's positive educational circumstances through enhancing behavior affordance, providing a potential to change a color environment at the educational space.
The purpose of this study were (1) to find out if socio-demographic, resource, psychological, and socio-environmental variables have significant effect6s on environmentally concious consumer behavior and (2) to examine the independent influences of variables related to the environmentally concious behavior. the subjects were 384 housewives living in Kwangju. the data were collected by questionnare methods and analyzed through SPSS PC+ program. The findings were as follows : Environmentally concious behavior differed significantly according to family income, employment, attending a consumer education experience, knowledge about environmental conservation method, post-industrial consumer value orientation, awareness of the seriousness of environmental problems, feeling of efficacy about helping to solve environmental problems, perception of time limit, influence of reference group and the degree of interesting in environmental information. The most critical variable was influence of reference group, that is, environmentally concious behavior by friends and neighbors.
