  • The shock vibration such as machine vibration, blasting vibration etc. has effect on nearby structure as well as human body. The purpose of this study is to predict allowable limit distance of vibration about human body. First of all, vibration velocity such as PPV, PVS was measured by shock vibration experiment, and vibration level was calculated by conversion formula of vibration velocity. And then, allowable limit distance was analyzed by converted vibration level. The results are as follows : Firstly, the correlation coefficient of converted vibration level was over R=0.94, and vibration level caused by PVS was usually represented to high curve line. Secondly, the cross point of vibration level between ground and concrete condition was represented to 66.68dB(V), and allowable limit distance was represented to difference over three times when vibration regulation was raised from 65dB(V) to 80dB(V).

  • An investigation of noise and vibration caused by the reclamation of the foreshore around J village resulted in noise measurements of 56-84 dB at the first point, 62-81 dB at the second point, and 68-78 dB at the third point. These measurements were higher than the standard level of environmental noise that is 55 dB at noon and 45 dB at night. The vibration measurements were 61-83 dB at the first point, 63-88 dB at the second point, and 58-77 dB at the third point. These measurements were also higher than the standard level of environmental vibration that is 60 dB at noon and 54 dB at night. The measurements of scattering dust were 80 $\mu\textrm{g}$/$\textrm{m}^3$ at the first point, 120 $\mu\textrm{g}$/$\textrm{m}^3$ at the second point, and 169 $\mu\textrm{g}$/$\textrm{m}^3$ at the third point. These measurements were lower than the standard level of environmental dust that is 300 $\mu\textrm{g}$/$\textrm{m}^3$/day. Although the maximum vibration level was higher than the standard level of environmental vibration, it had no influence on the construction.

  • Background: To date, little is known about the effects of factors linked to work-related fatigue on vibration-exposed workers. Thus, the purpose of this study was (1) to assess the effects of vibration exposure time per week and work-related fatigue on workers and (2) to identify factors associated with work-related fatigue caused by long-term exposure to occupational vibration. Methods: This study used data collected from the 5th Korean Working Conditions Survey. A total of 34,820 non-vibration-exposed and 10,776 vibration-exposed employees were selected from the data. The χ2 and multiple logistic regression were used to determine the effect of vibration exposure time per week and the effects of factors of work-related fatigue on workers. Results: The prevalence of work-related fatigue in vibration-exposed workers (30.5%) was higher than that of non-exposed workers (15.9%). The prevalence of work-related fatigue was higher for female and workers with depression, anxiety, and shift work, and those with authority to control their work pace had statistically significantly higher odds than those who did not. The employees who had the authority to control their order of work (odds ratio [OR]: 0.88; 95% confidence interval [CI]: 0.81-0.95) and method of work (OR: 0.90; 95% CI: 0.82-0.98) had statistically significantly lower odds than those who did not. The OR of workrelated fatigue symptoms was highest among employees whose vibration exposure time per week were 30.0%-40.0% (OR: 2.36; 95% CI: 1.96-2.83). Lower OR was observed as vibration exposure time per week decreased. Conclusions: The results of the present study suggest an association between occupational vibration and work-related fatigue and longer vibration exposure time per week, causing an increased prevalence of work-related fatigue symptoms. Measures to protect workers exposed to occupational vibration from work-related fatigue must be taken.

  • The standards of acceptable limit and compensation is one of the most important things in environmental noise and vibration disputes resolution. In this paper, review on the present acceptable limit level and compensation standard in National Environmental Dispute Resolution Commission is introduced. Discordance of standards between in the regulation law and in the dispute resolution commission and it's improvement are discussed. Abnormal reasoning for compensation standards is pointed out from a author's private view.

  • In this study, subway train vibration has been measured to characterize the whole body vibration of Seoul subway lines for various human postures. Results show that the floor vibration level of the subway trains in the vertical direction is higher than that in other directions. At the standing human posture, vibration level of the head in the right-left direction are increased while that in the vertical direction is decreased. It is assumed that the different flexibility of the human body and the rolling motion of the subway trains are the main cause. At the sitting posture with back seat on, vibration level in the right and left direction at the human ischial tuberosities is lower than that in other directions. Results also show that there were little difference between back-seat on model and back-seat off model. Transmissibility analysis shows how the subway vibration affects the response of a human body.

  • A satellite component must withstand vibration caused when launch vehicle acoustics and engine rumble transfer to it through its structural mount. Components shall be subjected to environmental tests after manufacturing process thus the environmental test conditions are needed for component level test including vibration and shock. This paper deals with derivation of component-level environmental test specifications, especially for solar panels of STSAT-2(Science & Technology SATellite-2). Sine sweep random vibration, and shock test conditions were generated for solar panels by assuming the satellite as single-degree-of-freedom system with a base excitation.

  • The noise from the elevated lines of rail transit has become a growing problem. This paper presents a new method for the rapid prediction of the structure-borne noise from steel or composite bridges, based on the receptance and Statistical Energy Analysis (SEA), which is essential to the study of the generation mechanism and the design of a low-noise bridge. First, the vertical track-bridge coupled vibration equations in the frequency domain are constructed by simplifying the rail and the bridge as an infinite Timoshenko beam and a finite Euler-Bernoulli beam respectively. Second, all wheel/rail forces acting upon the track are computed by taking a moving wheel-rail roughness spectrum as the excitation to the train-track-bridge system. The displacements of rail and bridge are obtained by substituting wheel/rail forces into the track-bridge coupled vibration equations, and all spring forces on the bridge are calculated by multiplying the stiffness by the deformation of each spring. Then, the input power to the bridge in the SEA model is derived from spring forces and the bridge receptance. The vibration response of the bridge is derived from the solution to the power balance equations of the bridge, and then the structure-borne noise from the bridge is obtained. Finally, a tri-span continuous steel-concrete composite bridge is taken as a numerical example, and the theoretical calculations in terms of the vibration and noise induced by a passing train agree well with the field measurements, verifying the method. The influence of various factors on wheel/rail and spring forces is investigated to simplify the train-track-bridge interaction calculation for predicting the vibration and noise from steel or composite bridges.
