The study was designed to investigate food waste management practices and to identify factors affecting food waste generation at school food services. A total of 202 dietitians employed at elementary schools participated in the survey. The mean food waste weight per school was 77.54 kg, forty percent of the schools generated food waste of $50{\sim}100kg$ every day and 53% generated plate waste less than 50 kg. Three quarters of the dietitians perceived plate waste as a major component of the food waste and vegetable dishes were a major source of the plate waste. Half of the dietitians used a food waste pick-up service for waste disposal, which was the most preferred waste disposal method. Approximately 90% of the dietitians conducted education on plate waste reduction for students but their perceptions on the effectiveness of the education was inconsistent. The contents were environmental issues (70.3%) and unbalanced food choice (56.7%). According to factor analysis based on performance score, solid waste management practices were grouped into 'information collecting and education', 'supervision of production process', 'cooperation with related groups', and 'control over production planning'. Practices appertaining to 'cooperation with related groups', 'information collecting and education' factor need to be improved. Dietitians should pay attention to 'recycle and reuse of left over' practice. Waste generation differed significantly by dietitians' ages and working experience. In order to reduce plate waste, more effective education materials and methods need to be developed and support from principals, teachers, and parents is necessary.
We have witnessed several kinds of new discourses and practices in health and medicine since the 1970s, such as popular concerns with alternative or complementary medicine, inordinate attention to the promotion of 'healthy' living, rapid resurrection of traditional medicine and ecological management of health. Four structural and situational factors are discussed to underlie these new trends:(i) as 'crisis' in health care of the 1970s was translated into health care reform of the 1980s backed up by neo-liberal political philosophy, the state responsibility for nation's health is being transferred to the individual ;(ii) it resulted from the limits of biomedical paradigm in dealing with chronic diseases;(iii) medico-scientific knowledge of disease is transformed into the subjective discourses and technologies of health in postmodern society ; and (iv) it is deeply associated with the considerable increase in environmental risk perception of health and disease. There are some inherent countervailing forces in these new discourses and practices. First, while they derive from lifestyle-oriented behavioral change, medicalization of life and death is still consolidated in the new trends. Second, inasmuch as new tides are reliant upon science, they. are likely to be remote from techne that means not the practical application of theoretical knowing but a special form of practical knowing. Third, as new discourses and activities accomplished'in the name of health'increasingly occupy important strategies in forming the self-identity, they serve as moral apparatus which involves prescriptions about how we should live our lives and conduct our bodies, both individually and collectively. Therefore, two points are suggested to consider seriously whether these streams will succeed in improving the‘healthy’living of all the people. Instead of limiting tile perspective to medicine, healing and health care, a new matrix that interweave welfare, ecology and labor along with them is timely needed for enhancing the health for all. In addition, as the World Health Report fm strongly shows, inequality in health heavily depends upon socio-economic development of a society, and it is not the richest countries that have the best health status, but those that have the smallest income differences between rich and poor.

The agricultural development of Korea has occurred at the expense of natural resources and environmental quality, and, today, one of the most urgent problem in the practices of intensive livestock farming is disposing of the animal wastewater. As a result, soil and water degradation and other environmental deterioration become apparent and they cause long-term loss in agricultural production. This paper attempted to summarize the environmental problems associated with agricultural activities, and to get some implications to minimize agricultural environment problems. It is proposed that sustainable agricultural is one of desirable directions for future Korean agriculture. The goal of the sustainable agricultural effort is to utilize the potential environmental quality problem. Agricultural operations may be more dependent upon the production practices and waste management techniques utilized by farmers than the size of the operation, the number of animal fed, or amount of waste involved. Also low-input farming technology can be suggested one of them, and disposing system of agricultural residues and animal waste should be developed with intensive concerns and financial supports.
Korea and other countries have made various efforts to preserve soil. During the past several decades, Korea has implemented various policies on soil conservation practices; however, those policies have often lacked consideration of human and ecosystem risk management. while other countries have practiced various policies closely related to risk-based management for contaminated sites. Therefore, there is a great need for a paradigm shift of policy to better manage contaminated sites in risk-based strategies, while applying different management plans for soil and groundwater. In addition, the new policies should be administered with provision to improve soil health and related functions in ecosystem. This study has reviewed the trend in relevant policies in Korea and foreign countries to suggest the future policy directions for contaminated site management in Korea. For better management of contaminated sites, coherent policy that could complement the law, system, and relevant technology is required.
Although researches have highlighted the important role of enhanced farm biosecurity to reduce the severity and prevalence of diseases in livestock, to date there has been little study in Korea on farmers' adoption of biosecurity measures to control porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus (PRRSV) infection. To mitigate the risk of PRRSV infection in pigs, the risk factors by which PRRSV is introduced in pig farms must be determined. The primary aim of this study was to investigate pig producers' perceptions about on-farm biosecurity practices. We also analyzed data obtained from a cross-sectional study on 196 farrow-to-finish farms conducted between March 2013 and February 2014 to identify risk factors for PRRSV infection at farm level. Standardized questionnaires with information about basic demographical data and management practices were collected in each farm by on-site visit of trained veterinarians. Farms were classified as negative or positive through the use of infection profiles that combined data on PCR positive pigs and serological testing including antibody titer, sero-conversion pattern at each age category, and vaccination status. Data on biosecurity practices, farm management and environmental characteristics were analyzed using multivariate ordinal logistic regression. Generally, the biosecurity level in the pig farms included in this study were insufficient to reduce/prevent the risk of PRRSV infection given the high pig density areas and the considerable extent of vehicle movement. Factors associated with PRRSV infection were those where owners used on-farm vaccination programs had a lower risk of infection (OR = 0.19, 95% CI 0.06-0.61). The results from the analysis may guide to tailor biosecurity measures in the reduction or prevention of PRRS to the specific circumstances of pig farms in different localities of the world. To the best knowledge of the authors, this is the first study to report information on the biosecurity practices currently implemented on Korean pig farms.

Professional self-determination of the individual is a complex and lengthy process of finding and realizing yourself in the profession. The main goal of professional self-determination is clarified. The basic concepts of readiness for professional self-determination of future specialists in the modern information society are revealed. The following approaches to the consideration of the concept of readiness are defined: functional-psychological, personal, activity-based. Based on the components of readiness identified by the researchers, it can be assumed that the structure of professional self-determination of the future specialist contains motivational, cognitive and activity components. Self-determination is defined as a multidimensional process that can be considered from different points of view: as a series of tasks, that society sets for the emerging individual, and which the individual must solve in a certain period. As a process of step-by-step decision-making, with the help of which the individual forms a balance between his desires and inclinations, on the one hand, and the needs of society, on the other; as a process of forming an individual lifestyle, part of which is professional activity. A number of tasks of professional self-determination of a future specialist in the information society are formulated. Diagnostic practices for determining the degree of readiness of future specialists for future professional success are characterized. Practices are developed as a basis for creating an individually oriented correctional and development program to promote the formation of future specialists' focus on future professional success. Their task is to ensure control over the dynamics of this process, assess the effectiveness of this career guidance work. Practices are aimed at identifying the degree of thorough knowledge of the conditions for achieving professional success in the chosen field of activity among future specialists.

A computer vision-based scene recognition algorithm is proposed for monitoring construction sites. The system analyzes images acquired from a surveillance camera to separate regions and classify them as building, ground, and hole. Mean shift image segmentation algorithm is tested for separating meaningful regions of construction site images. The system would benefit current monitoring practices in that information extracted from images could embrace an environmental context.
Purpose - The purpose of this development the business model of the healthcare sector in order to promote patents satisfaction towards medical sector services improvement for the medical business model innovation to possess a competitive advantage in the medical and pharmaceutical industry. Research design, data, and methodology - Safety standard protocol from existing multidisciplinary literature is a process of theorization, which uses grounded theory methodology rather than a description of the data and the targeted phenomenon by using Jabareen (2009). The first task is to map the spectrum of food safety literature regarding the phenomenon in safety management. This process includes developing the implementation factors and other sources such as existing business models and practices into the protocol design. Results - The study suggests the conceptual framework to improve the safety management for patients' environmental sustainability performance. Conclusion - The business model may support the beneficial aspect to healthcare government's policymakers, hospital employees, and medical specialist who can apply the practical perspective of its value regarding an educational protocol. Originality/value - This study contributes to and extends our understanding of environmental sustainability performance, identifying the rationale for safety standards performance in the healthcare industry with suggested hybrid safety standards market consumer interconnector.

The concepts of 'sustainable development', 'sustainable construction' and 'green building' have been elevated to priority levels in all types and phases of construction project development worldwide. Consultants and contractors are now required to seriously consider the impact of their operations on the natural environment and the society, and consequently adopt sustainable construction practices in the development process to minimize and mitigate the negative impacts of their activities. However, existing sustainability rating tools apply to the design, post-construction and operation phases of a building; no tool exists for the rating of the performance of the contractor or the project team at the construction phase. This study aimed to develop a model for evaluating the sustainability of construction operations, drawing on the global best practice standards on sustainability. Practical applications of the model were carried out through case studies to evaluate the performances of fifteen construction firms in New Zealand. The developed model and the outcomes of the case studies were presented, including potential areas of weaknesses, strengths, constraints to achievement or adoption of sustainable construction practices and areas for improvement in the operations of the firms. The successful application of the developed model in practice shows its usefulness and ease of application. It is therefore recommended for adoption as a simple but effective system for measuring and reporting on sustainability performance or sustainability of construction operations of firms in New Zealand and elsewhere.
Non-point source pollution that originates from surface applied chemicals in either liquid or solid form is a part of urban activities and it appears in the surface runoff caused by rainfall. This study investigates the characteristics of non point source pollution in relation to storm events and the first washing effect in the Study area, which is comprised of different land use types. Then, a Best Management Practices (BMP) model, for urban areas, is applied with the Storm water Management Model (SWMM) Windows Interface which was developed by the EPA in the USA. During the storm event analysis of the hydrographic and pollutographic data showed that the peak of pollutants concentration was within the peak flow, 30 to 60 minute into the storm event in the Study area. The results of simulation using SWMM Windows Interface, Structure Techniques as applied in the study were highly efficient for removal of pollutants. Predicted removal efficiency was 26.0% for SS, 22.1 for BOD, 24.1% for COD, 20.6% for T-N, and 21.6% for T-P, respectively.
