  • The purpose of this study is in providing a systematic method for school building color scheme. This study analyzed the cases of color uses in domestic and foreign school buildings. The results from this study tells that the colors in school buildings should take into account the environmental, psychological and functional elements at the same time to effectively function as environmental color, effect color and induction color.

지역에 따른 어린이 색각이상의 유병율에 관한 연구 (The study on prevalence of color vision loss by residential difference of children)

  • 본 연구에서는 지역에 따른 어린이들의 색각이상 유병율을 보고자 했다. 연구대상자는 4개 지역의 3-6 학년 초등학생들을 대상으로 하였다. 혈중 납과 요중 수은은 원자흡광분석기로 측정을 하였으며, 모든 연구대상자들은 CDC와 ATSDR 권고기준 이하였다. 색각검사는 Lanthony D-15 desaturated panel test를 이용하였으며, 정량적 평가와 정성적 평가를 동시에 시행하였다. 연구결과 공단지역 어린이들은 다른 지역에 비해 높은 색혼돈지수와 유병율을 보였다. 환경오염노출과 관련해서는 혈중 납과 요중 수은과의 연관성은 찾을 수 없었다. 따라서 본 연구결과 공단지역 어린이들의 색각이상에는 다른 영향요인이 작용했을 것으로 본다.

OPTICAL-NEAR INFRARED COLOR GRADIENTS OF ELLIPTICAL GALAXIES AND THEIR ENVIRONMENTAL DEPENDENCE

  • We have studied the environmental effect on optical-NIR color gradients of 273 nearby elliptical galaxies. Color gradient is a good tool to study the evolutionary history of elliptical galaxies, since the steepness of the color gradient reflects merging history of early types. When an elliptical galaxy goes through many merging events, the color gradient can be get less steep or reversed due to mixing of stars. One simple way to measure color gradient is to compare half-light radii in different bands. We have compared the optical and near infrared half-light radii of 273 early-type galaxies from Pahre (1999). Not surprisingly, we find that $r_e(V)s$ (half-light radii measured in V-band) are in general larger than $r_e(K)s$ (half-light radii measured in K-band). However, when divided into different environments, we find that elliptical galaxies in the denser environment have gentler color gradients than those in the less dense environment. Our finding suggests that elliptical galaxies in the dense environment have undergone many merging events and the mixing of stars through the merging have created the gentle color gradients.

자연색체계(NCS)의 뉘앙스개념에 기초한 환경색채조화방법 (Harmonizing the Method of Environmental Color Based on Nuance Concept of Natural Color System)

  • This study aims at suggesting the applicability of color combination based upon the characteristics of environmental color perception and the nuance concept of Natural Color System(NCS). The results are summarized below: First, NCS is a scientific coloring system in consideration of the relevance between people, light and environment, to be based on a phenomenological point of view. NCS can be called a psychometric model reflecting our natural color sense. Second, the color triangle established by NCS is one of the methods of expression based on the human visual mechanism, which is classified by two attributes of hue and nuance, not by the three color attributes of hue, lightness and saturation. The nuance concept of NCS implies the impression, atmosphere and tone that are perceived in colors, which are related to lightness and saturation. Accordingly, this paper suggests that the coloring arrangement emphasizing nuance and tone is more useful than hue in color planning. Third, aesthetic impression in environmental color perception is inclusive of instantly perceptive nuance, which is connected with affordance. The affordance is revealed by the different relation of similarity. In this regard, a strong relationship is noticed between color combination and the sense of pleasantness. The hypothesis regarding the complementation and similarity of contrasting nature is judged to provide observers with aesthetic order. Finally, this paper also suggests four harmonizing methods in the NCS color triangle based upon equal blackness, equal whiteness, equal chromaticness and same nuance. At the same time, opposition and a different concept of hue, lightness and lightness are combined complementarily with the nuance value to suggest patterns of color combination.

Relationship between Image-processed Color Content and Human Color Visibility Estimation of Natural Forest Scenes

  • The current study investigated the relationship between image processed data and human visibility data for natural forest scenes from the perspective of color. In particular, the results indicated relatively low Pearson product-moment correlations between the color ratings obtained from the two methods used in the study. The first method measured the color content of slides using a image processing program, while the second used a panel of human judges to rate the color content of each slide.

종합병원 로비 환경색채에 대한 감성평가 (Emotional Evaluation on the Environmental Color of the General Hospital's Lobby)

  • 본 연구는 종합병원의 환경색채가 사용자의 심리적, 감성적 부분에 영향을 미칠 것이라는 가설 하에, 종합병원 로비의 환경색채에 대한 감성평가를 실시하였다. 이를 통하여 종합병원 환경색채 계획 시 보다 긍정적이고 심리적 만족감을 주는 환경색채의 요건을 고찰하고자 하는 목적을 가진다. 이를 위하여 국내 대형종합병원 8곳을 직접 방문하여 환경색채를 측색하였으며, 이를 기반으로 색채팔레트를 만들어 감성어휘평가를 실시하였다. 그 결과, 환경색채 감성평가에 영향을 미치는 색채요소 중 명도의 영향이 큰 것으로 나타났고, 명도, 채도의 범위의 편차가 클수록 감성반응에 부정적 영향을 미치는 것으로 파악되었다.

色彩環境이 肉鷄의 攝食行動에 미치는 影響 (Effect of Environmental Color on the Eating Behaviour in Broiler Chicks)

  • An experiment was carried out to study the effect of environmental color on the eating behaviour in broiler chicks. A total of ninety broilers with average 350g of initial body weight were randomly assigned in the $3{\times}3$ randomized complete block design with 3 treatments(yellow, blue, red) and 10 birds per replication of various environmental color at walls, feeders and electric bulbs. The results obtained from these experiments are summarised as follows: 1. Feed Intake and average daily gain were significantly(P<0.05) increased by yellow colored environment. 2. Eating time and eating rate were significantly higher in the red colored than the other, indicating that yellow colored environment would maximize body weight gain and feed conversion for broiler chicks.

  • This study focuses on analyzing children's behavior from an integrated systemic perspective of the space and time and presenting a criterion and a guide of children-centered environmental color for intensifying their behavior affordance while considering functions of the space and color. Research was conducted as follows. Based on the spatial function and children's behavior, it figured out a prerequisite of educational environmental colors for behavior affordance. It extracted colors by dividing children's behavior affordance into 8elements considering a psychology of expectation and color function according to spatial and behavior affordance intensification elements. So 97school colors were selected for children's behavior affordance from abstracted colors by each element. Furthermore, it planned to suggest an environmental color guide for establishing elementary school's positive educational circumstances through enhancing behavior affordance, providing a potential to change a color environment at the educational space.

공공보건시설 환경색채이미지 어휘 특성 (Characteristics of Environmental Color Image Vocabulary for Public Healthcare Facility)

  • 본 연구는 최근 건강, 웰빙에 대한 관심이 증가함에 따라, 공공의 다수가 이용하는 공공보건시설이 국민건강 증진에 기여하는 색채환경 구축을 위한 색채이미지 특성을 분석하여 공공보건색채 계획 및 지표개발의 데이터로 활용하고자 하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 이를 위하여 기존 관련 선행연구 결과를 종합하였고, 공공보건시설을 유형별로 의료시설(종합병원), 보건시설(보건소), 준치유시설(요양시설)로 구분하였다. 총 18곳의 공공보건시설을 직접 방문하여 측색기로 환경색채를 측색하여 환경색채이미지를 분석하였고, 이에 대한 결과 및 선행연구 결과와 비교분석하여 색채이미지 특성 및 향후 보완할 점들을 도출하였다. 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫 번째, 공공보건시설의 환경색채이미지 어휘와 관련된 선행연구에서는 편안하고 밝은 긍정적인 이미지를 선호하는 것으로 나타났다. 두 번째, 공공보건시설의 환경색채를 직접 측색한 결과, 대부분 Y계열의 고명도, 저채도 색상을 사용하고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 세 번째, 공공보건시설의 환경색채이미지 어휘를 분석한 결과, '내츄럴한' 이미지가 가장 높은 빈도를 나타내었고, 그 외 '은은한', '점잖은' 등의 이미지가 나타나고 있는데, 공공보건시설의 색채이미지어휘간의 특성을 파악하기가 어려웠다. 본 연구는 색채과학과 환경디자인 분야의 융합연구로서, 디자인과 관련된 다학제적 연구 범위를 넓혔으며, 사용자 감성 중심의 환경계획에 도움이 될 것으로 사료된다.
