The purpose of this study is to analyze the cases of social contribution activities of cosmetics companies and to suggest directions for related activities to be continued more effectively in the future. The case was analyzed through the report, public information, and interview with the person in charge. The main results derived from previous studies and case studies. First, social contribution activities of cosmetics companies are performed in a variety of ways such as education, business, medical care, health, environmental protection, culture, art, donation etc. Second, corporate social contribution activities and diversity were found to be highly correlated with firm size. Third, the effectiveness of social contribution activities can be enhanced through collaboration with social enterprises and professional organizations. Forth, strategic approach to social contribution activities, systematic public relations, and CEO's sense of responsibility have a major influence on related activities. Based on the results of this study, it has been suggested that CSR activities of cosmetics companies can be made more effective.

The ballast water may be discharged into another sea area with marine organisms, it caused problems to disturb the marine ecosystem. So, in order to remove these environmental risk factors, the IMO has mandated the installation of BWTS to the all ships. Our monitoring system diagnose and predict a failure of BWTS by analyzing the sensor information of BWTS collected from which the ships scattered in the ocean of several. This paper presents the design and implementation of communication modules for BWTS remote monitoring considering the satellite communication charge fee. In the our study, we implemented the safety and cost-saving communication modules by LabVIEW program. The collected sensor informations is encrypted and compressed by LabVIEW modules running on RIO. Then they will be transfer to the land server and will be decrypt to enable monitoring in the land server. For the verification, we build the test modules which can verify from collecting the sensor data to consuming them in the monitoring server. We carried out 20 times for the data pattern in all of case. So, we verified the excellent functionality and reliability through the experimental result.

A new treatment of $LiV_3O_8$ has been proposed for improving its electrochemical behavior as a cathode material for secondary lithium batteries. Lithium trivanadate, $LiV_3O_8$, can be prepared in a finely dispersed form by dehydration of aqueous lithium trivanadate gels. The ultrasonic treatment method for Liv30s has been examined in comparison with $LiV_3O_8$ prepared by solutionmethod. The ultrasonically treated products in water were characterized by XRD (X-ray diffractometry), TGA (thermogravimetric analysis) and SEM (scanning electron microscopy). These measurements showed that the ultrasonic treatment process of aqueous $LiV_3O_8$ caused a decrease in crytallinity and considerable increased in specific surface area and interlayer spacing. The product, ultrasonically treated in water for 2 h, showed a high initial discharge capacity and was charge-discharge cycled without large capacity loss. This study was conducted to determine the influence of socio-economic status of potential consumers on the types of senior congregate housing(SCH) among 4 urban areas(Seoul Metropolitan area, Busan, Gwangaju, and Daejun). This study was part or a research series to develop SCH which meets the korean situation. The Questionnaire used for the final analysis involved 1006 people and SPSS Windows program was used for statistical analysis. The opinion about SCH should differ among the 4 urban areas according to Socio-Economic Status(SES). The results of this study were as follows: The opinions on SCH varied in each region according to SES indicating that diverse constructions of senior housing to meet selective needs of the old can create high demand in a construction market. In order to induce active participation of the private sector, the Ministry of Construction and Transportation, rather than the Ministry of Health and Welfare, should be in charge of the development of SCH. This is desirable in the perspective of developing new types of housing as for general housing. In this case, the Ministry of Construction and Transportation should consider geographic locations and environmental factors of each city. Moreover, the successful development of SCH needs an effort to reexamine an appropriate development plan rather than adopting the cases of developed countries without criticism. In terms of policies, the government should provide financial support for building sharing space, give an exception on a measurement rate, assist in the education of supervisors and establish a management system and so on.

In spite of the importance of a fishing industry, neither any terminology defined in details nor academic systems to educate the workers in the fishery were established in the fisheries social education. The fisheries social education was considered to be the practical area around the actual fields. Therefore, on-site education was very important. Accordingly, this study collected and analyzed theoretical basis of a social education and data on the rural adult education and examined the actual status of the fishing industry in Korea and fisheries extension services enterprise and fisheries developmental enterprise corresponding to the actual fisheries social education conducted in Korea. On the basis of these frames, this study summarized the direction for the progress of fisheries social education that has not been studied until now for the purpose of suggesting the future directions of the fisheries social education as follows; The recognition on the importance of fisheries social education and fundamental researches in the fisheries social education should be extended. The practical development of fisheries social education should be realized. Fisheries extension services enterprise should be evolved by fishermen. The abilities of instructors in the fisheries social education should be improved. The academic factors in the fisheries social education should be emphasized. Inter-disciplinary and multi-disciplinary approaches should be adopted. Various programs should be developed for the progress of the fisheries social education. The exclusive department in charge of the fisheries social education should be established. The information system for the fisheries social education should be secured. The industry, academic organizations and the organs should make cooperation. The fisheries social education should be provided by general social education institutions for the progress. The fisheries development should be deployed on the basis of environmental preservation. It is necessary to deploy the new fishing village movement like the Saemaul movement to the fisheries. The administrative and financial supports for the fisheries social education should be expanded. It is essential to cultivate the future fishermen for the international competitiveness.

Use of recycled fibers in papermaking has been increased for economical and environmental reasons. Recycled panels are major liber resources for brown grades and newsprints. Since the recycled fibers have disadvantageous properties as raw materials for papermaking it is of great importance to optimize the use of these recycled fibers. OCC (Old Corrugated Containers) is the major fiber source for linerboards and corrugating mediums that require diverse specification in strength properties. Many studies have been focused to overcome the problems of strength reduction of brown grades when recycled fibers are used as raw materials. The problem of strength loss for papers made from recycled fibers is closely associated with the increased amount of fines in recycled fibers and hornification of fibers. Fines contained in the recycled fiber resources cause problems not only in paper properties but also in process runnability. This shows that the optimal management and proper use of fines in recycling papermaking system are critical to get most benefits of using recycled fibers. In this study some approaches for optimal use of fiber fines in recycled paper mill have been investigated. Stock samples, prepared in the laboratory and obtained from a recycling plant were used. Fractionation of these samples was made using Sweco screen. And the effect of the addition of polyelectrolytes including cationic PAM and PEI on drainage and retention was evaluated. Different methods of polymer addition were compared to find the most effective ways of treating recycled fiber stocks with polyelectrolytes. Addition of polyelectrolytes to the short fiber fraction was most effective in retention and drainage. The influence of the charge and molecular weight of these two polymers has been examined and discussed.

An understanding of particle-particle interactions in filtration requires studying the detachment as well as the attachment of nanoparticles. Nanoparticles captured in a granular media filter can be released by changing the physicochemical factors. In this study, the detachment of captured silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) in granular media filtration was examined under different ionic strengths, ion type, and the presence or absence of natural organic matter (NOM). Filtration velocity and ionic strength were chosen as the physical and chemical factors to cause the detachment. Increasing filtration velocity caused a negligible amount of AgNP detachment. On the other hand, lowering ionic strength showed different release amounts depending on the background ions, implying a population of loosely captured particles inside the filter bed. Overall detachment was affected by ionic strength and ion type, and to a lesser degree by NOM coating which resulted in slightly more detachment (in otherwise identical conditions) than in the absence of that coating, possibly by steric effects. The secondary energy minimum with Na ions was deeper and wider than with Ca ions, probably due to the lack of complexation with citrate and charge neutralization that would be caused by Ca ions. This result implies that the change in chemical force by reducing ionic strength of Na ions could significantly enhance the detachment compared to that caused by a change in physical force, due to a weak electrostatic deposition between nanoparticles and filter media. A modification of the 1-D filtration model to incorporate a detachment term showed good agreement with experimental data; estimating the detachment coefficients for that model suggested that the detachment rate could be similar regardless of the amount of previously captured AgNPs.
The permeate flux decline due to membrane fouling can be addressed using a variety of theoretical stand-points. Judicious selection of an appropriate theory is a key toward successful prediction of the permeate flux. The essential criterion f3r such a decision appears to be a detailed characterization of the feed solution and membrane properties. Modem theories are capable of accurately predicting several properties of colloidal systems that are important in membrane separation processes from fundamental information pertaining to the particle size, charge, and solution ionic strength. Based on such information, it is relatively straight-forward to determine the properties of the concentrated colloidal dispersion in a polarized layer or the cake layer properties. Incorporation of such information in the framework of the standard theories of membrane filtration, namely, the convective diffusion equation coupled with an appropriate permeate transport model, can lead to reasonably accurate prediction of the permeate flux due to colloidal fouling. The schematic of the essential approach has been delineated in Figure 5. The modern approaches based on appropriate cell models appear to predict the permeate flux behavior in crossflow membrane filtration processes quite accurately without invoking novel theoretical descriptions of particle back transport mechanisms or depending on adjust-able parameters. Such agreements have been observed for a wide range of particle size ranging from small proteins like BSA (diameter ${\~}$6 nm) to latex suspensions (diameter ${\~}1\;{\mu}m$). There we, however, several areas that need further exploration. Some of these include: 1) A clear mechanistic description of the cake formation mechanisms that clearly identifies the disorder to order transition point in different colloidal systems. 2) Determining the structure of a cake layer based on the interparticle and hydrodynamic interactions instead of assuming a fixed geometrical structure on the basis of cell models. 3) Performing well controlled experiments where the cake deposition mechanism can be observed for small colloidal particles (< $1\;{\mu}m$). 4) A clear mechanistic description of the critical operating conditions (for instance, critical pressure) which can minimize the propensity of colloidal membrane fluting. 5) Developing theoretical approaches to account for polydisperse systems that can render the models capable of handing realistic feed solutions typically encountered in diverse applications of membrane filtration.
Photocatalysis is an environment friendly technique for degrading organic dyes in water. Tungsten oxide is becoming an active area of research in photocatalysis nanomaterials for having a smaller bandgap than the previously favored titanium dioxide. Synthesis of hierarchical structures, doping platinum (Pt), coupling with nanocomposites or other semiconductors are investigated as valid methods of improving the photocatalytic degradation efficiency. These impact the reaction by creating a redshift in the wavelength of light used, effecting charge transfer, and the formation/recombination of electron-hole pairs. Each of the methods mentioned above are investigated in terms of synthesis and photocatalytic efficiency, with the simplest being modification on the morphology of tungsten oxide, since it does not need synthesis of other materials, and the most efficient in photocatalytic degradation being complex coupling of metal oxides and carbon composites. The photocatalysis technology can be incorporated with water purification membrane by modularization process and applied to advanced water treatment system.
Geostationary Ocean Color Imager (GOCI), the world-first ocean remote sensing instrument on geostationary Communication, Ocean, Meteorological Satellite (COMS), will be able to take a picture of a large region several times a day (almost with every one hour interval). We, KORDI, are in charge for developing the GOCI data processing system (GDPS) which is the basic software for processing the data from GOCI. The GDPS will be based on windows operating system to produce the GOCI level 2 data products (useful for oceanographic environmental analysis) automatically in real-time mode. Also, the GDPS will be a user-interactive program by well-organized graphical user interfaces for data processing and visualization. Its products will be the chlorophyll concentration, amount of total suspended sediments (TSS), colored dissolved organic matters (CDOM) and red tide from water leaving radiance or remote sensing reflectance. In addition, the GDPS will be able to produce daily products such as water current vector, primary productivity, water quality categorization, vegetation index, using individual observation data composed from several subscenes provided by GOCI for each slit within the target area. The resulting GOCI level 2 data will be disseminated through LRIT using satellite dissemination system and through online request and download systems. This software is carefully designed and implemented, and will be tested by sub-contractual company until the end of this year. It will need to be updated in effect with respect to new/improved algorithms and the calibration/validation activities.
