A Study on Stress Level and Coping Strategies of Reemployed Wives (재취업 주부의 스트레스 인지정도 및 대처방법에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the family resources, stress level, and coping strategies of reemployed wives, to direct the better psycho-physical environment, and to enhance the quality of their home environment for reemployed wives. The data were analyzed with the frequency, percentage, factor analysis, mean(S.D), reliability, and regression using SPSS windows program. The major findings were as follows : (1) There were significant relationships between demographic and socioeconomic characteristics of the family resources and stress level. Personal-psycho resources was important variable in the family resources. The household work and value of household work were most influential. (2) Influential variables on stress level were income and working hours, resources of family task sharing. (3) Influential variables on coping strategies were age, reemployed time, and family task sharing. Coping strategies was effected by the reasons of employment.

A Comparative Study of k-ε Algebraic Stress Model and Mellor-Yamada Model Applied to Atmospheric Dispersion Simulation Using Lagrangian Particle Dispersion Model (라그랑지 입자 모델을 이용한 k-ε Algebraic Stress Model과 Mellor-Yamada Model의 비교 연구)

  • The $textsc{k}$-$\varepsilon$ algebraic stress model (KEASM) was applied to atmospheric dispersion simulation using the Lagrangian particle dispersion model and was compared with the most popular turbulence closure model in the field of atmospheric simulation, the Mellor-Yamada (MY) model. KEASM has been rarely applied to atmospheric simulation, but it includes the pressure redistribution effect of buoyancy due to heat and momentum fluxes. On the other hand, such effect is excluded from MY model. In the simulation study, the difference in the two turbulence models was reflected to both the turbulent velocity and the Lagrangian time scale. There was little difference in the vertical diffusion coefficient $\sigma$$_{z}$. However, the horizontal diffusion coefficient or calculated by KEASM was larger than that by MY model, coincided with the Pasquill-Gifford (PG) chart. The applicability of KEASM to atmospheric simulations was demonstrated by the simulations.s.

The relationships between institutionalized children's stress coping behaviors and behavior problems (시설보호 아동의 스트레스 대처행동과 행동문제간의 관계)

  • The purpose of current study was to investigate the relationships between institutionalized children's stress coping behaviors and behavior problems. The subjects were composed of 80 primary school 4th, 5th, 6th graders(45 boys, 35 girls) and 55 middle school 1th, 2th graders(42 boys, 13 girls) who were institutionalized in jeonju. The major findings were as follows: 1) The institutionalized children's stress coping behaviors were significantly different between the groups based on gender, grade, and period in institution. 2) The institutionalized children's problem behaviors were statistically different between the groups based on gender and period in institution. 3) In regression analysis models, active or passive coping strategies were negatively or positively related to internalized behavior problems respectively. Furthermore period in institution was positively related to externalized behavior problems.

Effect of Osmotic Stress on Human Red Cell Rheology: Cell Deformability, Aggregability and Blood Viscosity

  • The present study investigated the effects of the osmotic environment on the rheological properties of erythrocytes and their suspensions. In an iso-osmotic medium, erythrocytes forming a biconcave discocyte under resting conditions, exhibited high deformability. In a low-osmotic medium, the deformability of erythrocytes, which swelled and exhibited a spherical shape, significantly decreased at a high shear stress and the high-shear viscosity of the cell suspension was slightly higher than that of normal blood. Hyper-osmotic stress, however, which caused to form echinocytes, decreased cell deformability but exhibited smaller viscosity in low shear rates than iso-osmotic blood viscosity. These results showed a close relation with the aggregability measurements, in that hypertonic blood showed lower aggregability than the hypotonic and isotonic RBC suspensions. These findings indicate that the physicochemical environment has a strong influence on the rheological properties of the erythrocyte and its suspensions.

A Comparative Study on the Mother's Attachment, Self-concept, Daily Stress, Depression of Children from Multicultural and Typical Korean Families (다문화가족과 한국인 부모 아동의 모애착, 자아개념, 일상적 스트레스, 우울 비교)

  • This research examined the psychological characteristics of children, such as children's attachment to their mothers, self-concept, daily stress, and depression, in both multicultural and typical Korean families. Elementary school children in 3rd to 6th grade were surveyed in Chunnam province. 158 cases of multicultural families and 181 cases of typical Korean families were analyzed by the methods of Cronbach's a coefficient and independent t-test using SPSS program. Children from multicultural families had less attachment to their mothers and self respect than those from typical Korean families. Regarding daily stress, children from multicultural families highly recognize the economic and physical environments, whereas children from typical Korean families highly recognize the academic achievements and the relationships with their teachers. Children from multicultural families were highly prone to depression compared to the children from typical Korean families.

Prediction on Fatigue Life of Messenger Wire with Service Environments (사용환경에 따른 조가선의 피로수명 예측)

  • Fatigue life of catenary wires in various environments is reduced when stress is concentrated on some points, which are often found in corroded areas by surrounding pollutants. Therefore, the fatigue test were performed in order to investigate the effect of the surface corrosion on the destructive behavior in service environment and accelerated corrosion environment as well as th examine the corrosive property and mechanism of the catenary wires. In the fatigue test of the messenger stranded wire, the corrosion degraded materials showed 35~50% of fatigue life at a same stress amplitude compared to original material. Because the catenary wires have variable load by the interaction of periodic contacts with pantographs the maximum stresses of trolley wire and messenger wire calculated by simulation at the messenger wire during operation was estimated thought the corrosion behavior interpretation of variable stress and fatigue test.

Factors Affecting Stress of 119 Emergency Staffs (119구급대의 스트레스에 영향을 미치는 요인)

  • The results of analyzing the questionnaires with 119 emergency staffs working in Gwangju and Jeonnam region are as follows. 1. The whole stress score was mean 2.94 and the degree of stress from personal relationship was highest as 3.22. 2. There were significant differences in possession of qualification related to public health and medical treatment (F=3.090, p=.030) in service factors, total career of emergency staffs (F=2.979, p=.023) in working environment factors, age (F=2.835, p=.042) and sex (F=2.375, p=.019) in social position factors, possession of medical qualification (F=3.995, p=.010) and household account burden (F=2.777, p=.045) in personal relationship factors. 3. There were correlations (p=.475) between working environment factors and social position (p<0.01) and correlations (p=.508) between working environment factors and personal relationship factors (p<0.01). There was correlation (p=.415) between social position and personal relationship factors(p<0.01). More concrete research that examines whether current fire station operation system is desirable or not by comparing the degree of stress of the whole 119 emergency staffs in Korea is needed and it is considered that real allowance level should be secured to reduce their stresses and facility and guarantee system to satisfy their demands for welfare are required.

COPING STYLE, FAMILY SUPPORT, PARENTING BEHAVIOR IN ADOLESCENTS WITH HIGHLY PERCEIVED STRESS (청소년의 높은 스트레스 지각과 대처양식, 가족 내 지지, 부모양육행동 간의 관계)

  • Objectives : This study was intended to compare coping style, family support, and parenting behavior between adolescent groups with different levels of perceived stress. Methods : A total of 795 high school students participated in this study. First, they were tested on the Perceived Stress Scale and then were separated into two groups depending on the level of perceived stress. Both groups completed the Scale for the Coping Style, the Family Environment Scale (relationship subscale) and Parenting Behavior Inventory. Results : The high stress group had significantly higher scores on all their coping scores than the low stress group. Also, the high stress group had significantly higher family conflict scores, lower family cohesiveness scores and lower expression scores than the low stress group. The high stress group experienced negative parenting behavior from both parents more often than the low stress group. In the adolescents with low family cohesiveness and expression, the use of active behavioral coping was decreased, if the higher stressful events occurred. The use of avoidant coping by these adolescents increased when there were higher levels of stress in their environment. Conclusion : Low family support directly reduced the usage of active behavioral coping and increased the use of avoidant coping strategy through the mediation of high stress condition.

Nursing Students' Stress and Anger Experience in the Clinical Setting (간호학생의 임상실습과 관련된 스트레스와 분노경험)

  • The purpose of this study was identify the level of stress, anger and anger expression in the clinical setting and identify the relation ships between anger and stress of nursing students in the clinical setting. A convenient sample of 213 junior college of nursing students was used for the study. The data were analyzed by descriptive statistics and Pearson Correlation Coefficients. The results of this study were summarized as follows : 1. The average stress score in the clinical setting of subjects was 3.87. The higher level of stress in the clinical setting was 4.10 in domain of nurses, 4.10 in domain of human relationships, 4.07 in domain of report and 3.89 in domain of relationship between nursing theory and practice. 2. The average state-anger score of subjects was 1.54. 3. The average anger-out score of anger expression mode was 1.66 and 2.36 in anger-in. 4. The state-anger was found significantly related to stress of nursing students in the clinical setting (r=0.256 p<0.001). In the relationship between state- anger and stress in the clinical setting, environment, patient relationship, between nursing theory and practice, nurses, report, orientation were significantly positive correlation . 5. The anger-out of anger expression mode was not found significantly related to stress of nursing students in the clinical setting. 6. The anger-in of anger expression mode was found significantly related to stress of nursing students in the clinical setting (r=0.205 p<0.01). In the relationship between anger-in of anger expression mode and stress in the clinical setting, environment, patient, nurses, human relationships, conference were significantly positive correlation.

Effects of the Vibration Stress on Cortisol and Hematological Characteristics in Soft-shelled Turtle, Pelodiscus sinensis (진동 스트레스에 따른 자라, Pelodiscus sinensis의 코티졸 및 혈액학적 특성)

  • We examined the effects of the vibration stress on cortisol secretion and hematological characteristics in soft-shelled turtle, Pelodiscus sinensis. For the stressed group vibration of $45{\sim}78 dB(V)$ from electric vibrator applied for 30 min with 2-h intervals during daytime ($08:00{\sim}18:00$) up to 28 days. Using the blood samples collected from ten turtles held once a week after vibration stress, we measured hematocrit, hemoglobin, red blood cells, cortisol, glucose, lactic acid, osmolality, $Na^+,\;K^+,\;Cl^-$, aspartate aminotransferase (AST), and alanine aminotransferase (ALT). The results have showed that P. sinensis received vibration stress exhibit the 'typical' stress-induced physiological responses (cortisol, glucose, lactic acid, osmolality, ions, hematocrit and hemoglobin) induced by vibration stress. Our data suggested that chronic vibration stress caused substantial stress in the animal, and in particular, the persisting elevated levels of AST and ALT would be highly correlated with the adverse effects of the stress. The high hematological characteristics during entire experimental period showed that the P. sinensis could not adapt to chronic stimuli provoked by vibration stress.
