Center of buoyancy moves along with pitch attitude variation, which causes Helium gas inclination. In this paper, movement of center of buoyancy and corresponding variation of longitudinal static stability were observed. The effect of separating wall, which is placed in the envelop to minimize movement of center of buoyancy was also investigated. Installation of separating wall was proved to be essential for current design, because movement of center of buoyancy aggravates longitudinal static stability. Investigation of longitudinal static stability for various speeds reveals a 50m airship is statically stable only in a low speed regime.
During the conceptual design of turboprop aircraft, the power effect driven from rotating propeller is typically obtained from empirical data. In the present paper, propeller power effect was obtained by using unsteady three-dimensional Navier-Stokes solver with $k-{\omega}$ turbulence model for the accurate prediction of turboprop aircraft performance. In order to simulate the relative motion between propeller and fuselage, unsteady sliding mesh method was used. During simulation, three flow conditions such as climb, cruise and descending flight were selected considering the flight envelop of the real turboprop aircraft. For the correction of aerodynamic coefficients, the thrust effect of engine exhaust gas was included based on the engine manufacturer's data. Using the computational results, the correction table for the aerodynamic coefficient of turboprop aircraft was suggested for the performance analysis of turboprop aircraft.
The structural load analysis of 50m class airship was performed. The airship maneuver condition for analysis was defined. Aerodynamic, inertia and buoyance models were built. Control surface motion to make defined maneuver condition were calculated. Load factors, load, shear and bending moment envelops were developed for full airship and tailwing. Gondola design loads were developed.
Today, the number of super tall buildings are under construction or being planed in Middle East and Asian Countries. For example the burj Khalifa, the tallest building in the world, is completed in 2008 and the height of that is about 800m. Also, Lotte World Tower is under construction in Korea. External environmental conditions such as wind speed, air temperature, humidity and solar radiation around the super tall building differs according to the building height due to the vertical micro climate change. However, the meteorological information used for AC design of building is obtained typically from standard surface meterological station data(~2m above the ground). In this paper the effect of the building envelope on heating and cooling load in super tall building considering the meteorological changes with height was analyzed with simulation method. As results of this research, the guideline to select the building envelop alternatives for super tall building will be suggested in this paper.

The Safe Operating Envelope (SOE) combined with Short-Take-Off and Vertical Landing (STOVL) performance is an essential consideration of a light aircraft carrier for design of hull shape with excellent seakeeping performance in terms of naval air operations as well as traditional naval ship missions such as Transit and Patrol (TAP), and Replenishment at Sea (RAS) and so on. A variety of procedures are systematically combined to determine SOE considering rather complicated missions associated with operation of aircraft onboard. The evaluation of take-off and landing safety missions onboard should consider wind effect on deck and severer seakeeping indices and standards compared with conventional naval ships. In order to support take-off and landing missions, various support activities of the crews are required. So, additional evaluation is needed for indicators such as MSI(Motion sickness Index) and MII(Motion Induced Interruptions), which are quantitative indicators of work ability that appear as a result of motion response. In this study, a standard procedure is developed including the seaworthiness performance indicators, standards, and evaluation procedures that should be considered during design of STOVL aircraft carrier. Analysis results are discussed in terns of air-wake on deck as well as seakeeping indices associated with design parameter changes in view of conceptual design of a light aircraft carrier.

In this paper, excitation systems using linear mass shaker (LMS) are presented in order to simulate the wind induced responses of a building structure. The actuator force for the excitation systems is calculated by using the inverse transfer function of a target structural response to the actuator. Filter and envelop function are used such that the error between the wind and actuator induced responses is minimized by preventing the actuator from exciting unexpected modal response and initial transient response. The analyses results from a 76-story benchmark building problem in which wind load obtained by wind tunnel test is given, indicate that the excitation system installed at a specific floor can approximately embody the structural responses induced by the wind load applied to each floor of the structure. The excitation system designed by the proposed method can be effectively used for evaluating the wind response characteristics of a practical building structure and for obtaining an accurate analytical model of the building under wind load.
To cover a range of possible site conditions where the Korean standard nuclear power plant may be constructed, a range of generic site conditions is selected for geologic and seismologic evaluation. To envelop other Asian countries as well as the Korean peninsula, there is an attempt to increase the seismic level to 0.3g ground motions for the safe shutdown earthquake. The dynamic analyses of the reactor vessel internals and fuel assemblies are performed for the increased motions and the effect of seismic level on the response is investigated. Also the nonlinear response characteristics are discussed by comparing the loads between operating basis earthquake and safe shutdown earthquake excitations. The design adequacy of the reactor vessel internals and fuel assemblies for the increased seismic level is addressed.

In this paper, excitation systems using a linear mass shaker (LMS) and an active tuned mass damper (ATMD) are presented to simulate the wind induced responses of a building structure. The actuator force for the excitation systems is calculated by using the inverse transfer function of a target structural response to the actuator. Filter and envelop functions are used to prevent the actuator from exciting unexpected modal responses and an initial transient response and thus, to minimize the error between the wind and actuator induced responses. The analyses results from a 76-story benchmark building problem for which the wind load obtained by a wind tunnel test is given, indicate that the excitation system installed at a specific floor can approximately reproduce the structural responses induced by the wind load applied to each floor of the structure. The excitation system designed by the proposed method can be effectively used for evaluating the wind response characteristics of a practical building structure and for obtaining an accurate analytical model of the building under wind load.
The aim of this study was to develop the details of cross-laminated timber (CLT) envelops for satisfying the design standard for energy saving (DSEA) and passive standard in South Korea. When the same thickness of 180 mm concrete or CLT was used and the same materials for other layers were used for the roof, wall, and interlayer floor, the required insulation thickness for the different building envelopes in central, southern, and Jeju island was evaluated. As a result, compared to the concrete envelop, about 43 mm of insulation thickness was reduced for wall and roof with the CLT envelope. When the CLT envelopes were modified to protect the CLT from moisture based on FPInnovations (2011), the insulation thickness was further reduced by 12 mm. When the modified CLT building envelops satisfied with a passive standard are used for 10-story building, the required insulation was decreased by $40.89m^3$ for a floor ($105.27m^2{\times}2.3m$ in height) compared to concrete building. As the number of floors increases, about 3.58 m3 of insulation per floor was additionally saved.

The Korean government has introduced building regulations with improved energy conservation measures, including higher insulation levels for building envelope. However, there are many existing buildings that tend to consume more energy for heating and cooling than new buildings, as they were built under the former regulations with relatively higher U-values of walls and glazing. In order to improve energy efficiency in existing buildings, green remodelling of building envelope and building services are required. For existing buildings, building services improvements have been achieved through energy service company(ESCO), but much attention has not been paid to building envelope improvements with various reasons, such as uncertainty of energy saving effect design issues and costs. The aim of this study is to evaluate the impact of building envelope improvements in a typical commercial building on its heating and cooling energy loads. The results show that the improvement of glazing with lower U-values has the highest energy saving effects, followed by wall, roof and floor, under the condition of same level of insulation improvements. However, high insulated glazing increased LCC because of higher initial investment costs.
