The Application of CED for Ship Design (선박설계를 위한 계산유체역학의 활용에 대하여)

  • The issues associated with the application of CFD for ship design are addressed. It is quite certain that the CFD tools are very useful in evaluating hull forms a prior to traditional towing tank tests. However, the time-consuming pre-processing is an obstacle in the daily application of CFD tools to improve hull forms. The accuracy of computational modeling without sacrificing the usability of CFD system is also to be assessed. The wave generation is still predicted by using potential panel methods, while velocity profiles entering into propeller plane is solved using turbulent flow solvers. The choice of turbulence model is a key to predict nominal wake distribution within acceptable accuracy. The experimental data for CFD validation are invaluable to improve physical and numerical modeling. Other applications of CFD for ship design than hull form improvement are also given. It is certain that CFD can be a cost-effective tool for the design of new and better ships.

  • The dynamic window approach(DWA) is a well known technique for reactive collision avoidance. It shows safe and efficient performance in real-world experiments. However, a robot can get stuck in local minima because no information about the connectivity of the free space is used to determine the motion. The global DWA can solve this problem of local minima by adding a navigation function. Even with the global DWA, it is still difficult for a robot to execute an abrupt change in its direction, for example, entering from the corridor to a doorway. This paper proposes a modified global DWA using the included angles of waypoints extracted from an optimal path. This scheme enables the robot to decelerate in advance before turning into the doorway. Therefore the robot can reach the goal position more safely and efficiently at high speeds.

  • In recently, our social is entering to service infinite competitive time., So If companys don't give satifactory and an impression customers, they don't exist. The Companies that operate railway are promoted(Seoul metro). The Korail, Seol metropolitan Rapid Transit Corperation, Incheon Rapid Transit Corporation), they are into a stronger competitor. So the service for customer is more inportant to improve the image and administration than before. Especially, station workers who work near the customer are important for cooperation image. But, there are only a few employees to operate the station like ticketing in railway station, There aren't reinforcement the service employees and expanse the utility system. especially, since the transportation card is introduced in 1996, the customers who use the T-Money card are increased. So the change of service system is necessary to provide a substantial service to customer. This paper derives the problems through analysising the operating system of station, and presents the improvement to provide substantial services to customer

  • Contemporary architecture in Japan is entering an entirely new phase in the second half of the 1980s. In the late 1960s, doubts began to be expressed about Modernism, which until then had been the recognized mainstream of architecture. There was much discussion, but it was only in the early '80s that an active debate was initiated concerning Post-Modernism. Today, however, matters have gone beyond this, and the situation appears particularly significant. The Japanese architecture world was hitherto understand to be fundamentally very different from its western counterparts. There are several trends in current Japanese architecture which have still come out of the Japanese tradition of life, culture, region, climate itself. At the same time, stance of contemporary Japanese architecture start from a common basis in world's design stream which can be called Post-Modernism, Deconstructivism, Neo-Modernism. This study is aimed at analysis of 'Regional Characteristics' in Contemporary Japanese Architecture.

  • To study marketing strategy changes caused by Korea fashion industry development process, the fashion marketing strategy changes of Japan, considered as the most similar one of Korea, was compared. At each period, p! roper cost efficiency strategies, product differentiation strategies, and market segment strategies has been selected and applied. The fashion industry foundation period namely practical usage clothing period of Korea follows 10 years after one of Japan. 90's highly sensitive fashion period namely fashion industry growth period follows 5 years after one of Japan. As entering to fashion industry maturity period with global competition, the time difference falls to less than 5 years. With hosting of 2002's World-Cup, Korea's global competitiveness has increased, and it appears to be possible of being fashion market leader in East Asia and Japan's rival on an equal footing.

  • Arrival management is a tool which provides efficient flow of traffic and reduces ATC workload by determining aircraft's sequence and schedules while they are in cruise phase. As a decision support tool, arrival management should advise on air traffic control service based on the understanding of human factor of its user, air traffic controller. This paper proposed a prediction model for air traffic controller sequencing strategy by analyzing the historical trajectory data. Statistical analysis is used to find how air traffic controller decides the sequence of aircraft based on the speed difference and the airspace entering time difference of aircraft. Logistic regression was applied for the proposed model and its performance was demonstrated through the comparison of the real operational data.

Correspondence Search Algorithm for Feature Tracking with Incomplete Trajectories

  • The correspondence problem is known to be difficult to solve because false positives and false negatives almost always exist in real image sequences. In this paper, we propose a robust feature tracking algorithm considering incomplete trajectories such as entering and/or vanishing trajectories. We solve the correspondence problem as the optimal graph search problem, by considering false feature points and by properly reflecting motion characteristics. The proposed algorithm finds a local optimal correspondence so that the effect of false feature points can be minimized in the decision process. The time complexity of the proposed graph search algorithm is given by O(mn) in the best case and O(m$^2$n) in the worst case, where m and n are the number of feature points in two consecutive frames. The proposed algorithm can find trajectories correctly and robustly, which has been shown by experimental results.

  • As entering in the time of high oil price, seriousness of an energy is on the rise and the importance of energy is growing. Especially, building energy occupying 24% of total demand of energy is expected to be possible to reduce energy demand more than other section. To reduce the building energy consumption, this study analyzes function and thermal performance of Super window by heat experimental apparatus. Super window is a 2-track low-e glazing window for high insulation efficiency. By applying the results of this experiment to building energy efficiency rating tool, this study compares energy efficiency rates depending on a region.-Jeju, South, Central. And it shows how much does Super window reduce Building energy consumption.

  • With the fast developing pace, the Galileo system is entering the navigation stage with high profile. At the same time, U.S. is accelerating his GPS modernization schedule, and Russian also begins to resuscitate their GLONASS. Moreover, Chinese Beidou system has also joined the satellite navigation family with low profile already. And of course Japanese QZSS even moves forward. Along with the bitter competition in technology, finance, market and even military affairs, all these systems will firmly benefit each other and massively extend the role of civil satellite navigation industry in the future. The Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) would be almost certain to include above major satellite navigation systems. Thus how to utilize the navigation satellite resource for world peace and promote the progress of mankind should be the key issue of this century.

  • Maintenance scheduling plays an important role in evaluating the supply reliability of power systems. Since generating units must be maintained and inspected, the generation planner must schedule planned outages during the year. Several factors entering into this scheduling analysis include: seasonal load-demand profile, amount of maintenance to bo done on all generating units, size of the units, elapsed time from last maintenance, and availability of maintenance crews. This paper proposes a new algorithm to decide the multi-year maintenance scheduling with considering the total cost. We adjust the maintenance scheduling to levelize the reliability over all period. The proposed algorithm is applied to a real size power system and the developed reliability results are obtained.
