In medium- and long-range optical imaging systems, atmospheric turbulence causes blurring and distortion of images, resulting in loss of image information. An image-restoration method based on an adaptive feature-fusion multi-input-multi-output (MIMO) dense U-shaped network (Unet) is proposed, to restore a single image degraded by atmospheric turbulence. The network's model is based on the MIMO-Unet framework and incorporates patch-embedding shallow-convolution modules. These modules help in extracting shallow features of images and facilitate the processing of the multi-input dense encoding modules that follow. The combination of these modules improves the model's ability to analyze and extract features effectively. An asymmetric feature-fusion module is utilized to combine encoded features at varying scales, facilitating the feature reconstruction of the subsequent multi-output decoding modules for restoration of turbulence-degraded images. Based on experimental results, the adaptive feature-fusion MIMO dense U-shaped network outperforms traditional restoration methods, CMFNet network models, and standard MIMO-Unet network models, in terms of image-quality restoration. It effectively minimizes geometric deformation and blurring of images.

The present paper proposes a novel dynamic system for hand gesture recognition. The approach involved is comprised of three main steps: detection, tracking and recognition. First, the gesture contour captured by a 2D-camera is detected by combining the three-frame difference method and skin-color elliptic boundary model. Then, the trajectory of the hand gesture is extracted via a gesture-tracking algorithm based on an occlusion-direction oriented linear extrapolation predictor, where the gesture coordinate in next frame is predicted by the judgment of current occlusion direction. Finally, to overcome the interference of insignificant trajectory segments, the longest common subsequence (LCS) is employed with the aid of velocity information. Besides, to tackle the subgesture problem, i.e., some gestures may also be a part of others, the most probable gesture category is identified through comparison of the relative LCS length of each gesture, i.e., the proportion between the LCS length and the total length of each template, rather than the length of LCS for each gesture. The gesture dataset for system performance test contains digits ranged from 0 to 9, and experimental results demonstrate the robustness and effectiveness of the proposed approach.

Multicast communication can effectively reduce network resources consumption in contrast with unicast. With the advent of SDN, current researches on multicast traffic are mainly conducted in the SDN scenario, thus to mitigate the problems of IP multicast such as the unavoidable difficulty in traffic engineering and high security risk. However, migration to SDN cannot be achieved in one step, hybrid SDN emerges as a transitional networking form for ISP network. In hybrid SDN, for acquiring similar TE and security performance as in SDN multicast, we redirect every multicast traffic to an appropriate SDN node before reaching the destinations of the multicast group, thus to build up a core-based multicast tree substantially which is first introduced in CBT. Based on the core SDN node, it is possible to realize dynamic control over the routing paths to benefit traffic engineering (TE), while multicast traffic manageability can also be obtained, e.g., access control and middlebox-supported network services. On top of that, multiple core-based multicast trees are constructed for each multicast group by fully taking advantage of the routing flexibility of SDN nodes, in order to further enhance the TE performance. The multicast routing and splitting (MRS) algorithm is proposed whereby we jointly and efficiently determine an appropriate core SDN node for each group, as well as optimizing the traffic splitting fractions for the corresponding multiple core-based trees to minimize the maximum link utilization. We conduct simulations with different SDN deployment rate in real network topologies. The results indicate that, when 40% of the SDN switches are deployed in HSDN as well as calculating 2 trees for each group, HSDN multicast adopting MRS algorithm can obtain a comparable TE performance to SDN multicast.

In this paper, sub-harmonically pumped single balanced resistive mixers are presented . Frequency bandwidth is selected for a Ku-band, which is 11.75-12.25GHz for RF, 5.375∼5.625 GHz for LO, and 1 GHz for IF signals. A rat-race hybrid is designed for the accomplishment of single balanced type. A low pass filter (LPF) with photonic band gap(PBG) structure is used for good conversion loss and unwanted harmonics suppression. Two types of mixers are suggested, which are one with no gate bias for no DC power consumption and the other with the IF amplifier for conversion gain. When a LO signal with the power of 6 dBm at 5.5 GHz is injected, a conversion loss of 12.17dB and a conversion gain of 7.83 dB are obtained for each mixer. For the both mixers , LO to RF isolation of 20 dB and LO to IF isolation of 60dB are obtained. With the RF power of -30dBm to -3dBm, the mixer shows linear characteristics region of IF. this mixer can be applied for Ku-band and other microwave communication systems.

Microstrip antennas are attractive for many applications because of their compact size, low profile, and light weight. Recently, the demand for the miniaturization of the personal communication equipment has been increasing along with the proliferation of personal communication systems. Thus, the development of small antenna has been highly demanded. In this paper, a new technique to reduce the overall dimension of a microstrip antenna with a locally non-homogeneous substrate configuration is proposed. The miniaturized microstrip antenna for a repeater system in a mobile communication cellular band(824~894 MHz) is designed with the proposed technique, and commercialized with low cost, light weight, and small size. Comparison between simulations, based on Agilent Technologies HFSS software, and measurements are provided. The proposed method will be more attractive for a light-weight, small-size, and low-cost microstrip array design. This paper also presents the bandwidth improvement technique for under-coupled microstrip patch antenna with a tuning stub.
This study was conducted to analyse climate change impact on agriculture infrastructure and propose improved measures on vulnerable areas. Recently, Climate change has resulted in damaging effects on agricultural fields through increases in drought intensity and flood risk. It is expected that this impact will increase over time. This study shows that Gyeong-gi and Chung-nam provinces are affected by drought and Gyeong-buk and Gyeong-nam provinces are affected by heavy rain. However, there are also regional variations within each province. Agricultural infrastructure affected by drought may also be affected by heavy rain. Increased damages on the infrastructure due to increased extreme weather events require preventive measures especially in vulnerable areas. In order to minimize the damage by climate change, we need to introduce a reform in the system which selects project region by analysing climate change impacts. Furthermore, impact assessment of climate change from projects such as 'water supply diversification', 'flooded farmland improvement', and 'irrigation facility reinforcement' also need to be adopted to improve the measures. The results of this study are expected to provide a foundation for establishing measures on coping with climate change in the agricultural sector.

We perform the task of video object segmentation by incorporating a conditional random field (CRF) and convolutional neural networks (CNNs). Most methods employ a CRF to refine a coarse output from fully convolutional networks. Others treat the inference process of the CRF as a recurrent neural network and then combine CNNs and the CRF into an end-to-end model for video object segmentation. In contrast to these methods, we propose a novel higher-order CRF model to solve the problem of video object segmentation. Specifically, we use CNNs to establish a higher-order dependence among pixels, and this dependence can provide critical global information for a segmentation model to enhance the global consistency of segmentation. In general, the optimization of the higher-order energy is extremely difficult. To make the problem tractable, we decompose the higher-order energy into two parts by utilizing auxiliary variables and then solve it by using an iterative process. We conduct quantitative and qualitative analyses on multiple datasets, and the proposed method achieves competitive results.

The limited computing power of sensor nodes in wireless sensor networks (WSNs) and data tampering during wireless transmission are two important issues. In this paper, we propose a scheme for independent individual authentication of WSNs data based on digital watermarking technology. Digital watermarking suits well for WSNs, owing to its lower computational cost. The proposed scheme uses independent individual to generate a digital watermark and embeds the watermark in current data item. Moreover, a sink node extracts the watermark in single data and compares it with the generated watermark, thereby achieving integrity verification of data. Inherently, individual validation differs from the grouping-level validation, and avoids the lack of grouping robustness. The improved performance of individual integrity verification based on proposed scheme is validated through experimental analysis. Lastly, compared to other state-of-the-art schemes, our proposed scheme significantly reduces the false negative rate by an average of 5%, the false positive rate by an average of 80% of data verification, and increases the correct verification rate by 50% on average.
