Fiber Reinforced Polymer (FRP) is widely used for retrofitting concrete structures for various purposes. Especially, for the retrofitting of concrete structures subjected to blast loads, FRP is proven to be a very effective retrofitting material. However, a systematic design procedure to implement FRP for concrete structure retrofitting against blast loads does not exist currently. In addition, in case of concrete structures with inarticulate geometrical boundary conditions such as arch structures, an effective analysis technique is needed to obtain reliable results based on minimal analytical assumptions. Therefore, in this study, a systematic and efficient blast analysis procedure for FRP retrofitting design of concrete arch structure is suggested. The procedure is composed of three sequential parts of preliminary analysis, breach and debris analysis, and retrofit-material analysis. Based on the suggested procedure, blast analyses are carried out by using explicit code, LS-DYNA. The study results are discussed in detail.
Purpose: Because of the growing concern over fossil fuel use and increasing demand for greenhouse gas emission reduction since the 1990s, the building energy analysis field has produced various types of methods, which are being applied more often and broadly than ever. A lot of research products have been actively proposed in the area of the building energy simulation for over 50 years around the world. However, in the last 20 years, there have been only a few research cases where the trend of building energy analysis is examined, estimated or compared. This research aims to investigate a trend of the building energy analysis by focusing on methodology and characteristics of each method. Method: The research papers addressing the building energy analysis are classified into two types of method: engineering analysis and algorithm estimation. Especially, EPG(Energy Performance Gap), which is the limit both for the existing engineering method and the single algorithm-based estimation method, results from comparing data of two different levels- in other words, real time data and simulation data. Result: When one or more ensemble algorithms are used, more accurate estimations of energy consumption and performance are produced, and thereby improving the problem of energy performance gap.

Contra-rotating fan is comprised of two rotors which are rotating in the opposite direction. The fan stages are named rotor-1 and rotor-2. Benefits from the use of contra rotation are in terms of better efficiency and improved thrust to weight ratio. Failure of contra-rotating fan stage blade in-service results in safety risks, repair costs, and revenue losses. This paper focuses on the vibration analysis and one way fluid-structure interaction of high aspect ratio, low speed contrarotating fan rotors. Modal analysis and modal pre-stress analysis of contra-rotating fan rotors were carried out to calculate the natural frequencies, One way fluid-structure interaction (FSI) was carried out where the computational analysis of the blades was performed using ANSYS CFX. The boundary conditions for CFD analysis were considered from the actual experimental velocity flow field at the inlet and pressure outlet. Based on the results obtained from the CFD analysis, the structural analysis such as deformation and Von-Misses stresses was carried out by using the finite element method (FEM) with ANSYS. The results provide necessary guidelines for the safe running of the contra-rotating fan. The analysis also will be helpful to understand the change of flow behavior due to a rotor deformation.
Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics(SPH) method uses a grid of historical analysis and is not Lagrangian particles using the grid method. The Navier-Stokes equations were used to solve the viscous flow of the non-compressed. In this study, the numerical analysis of the three-dimensional Coin Drop Simulation using SPH method was performed, and the analysis results are compared with experimental results, and a similar behavior can be seen. The commercial program used was Abaqus/Explicit. SPH method to reduce the error by comparing the existing flow analysis or interpretation of the continuing research is needed in the future. That will enable real-time analysis of material obtained as a result of these numerical simulations similar to the actual flow phenomena, depending on the development of computer graphics technology to show visually. As a result, this method can be applied to the analysis fluid - structure interaction problems in a variety of fields.
This paper is concerned with marginal analysis in the detailed estimation method. In a broad sense all estimates are marginal estimates in as much as they are concerned with creating changes from a current course of action. Only after a detailed ostinato is made can the engineering realize and exploit the advantages of marginal analysis. Marginal analysis is good tool for nonlinear break-even analysis adapted real world, and much more information and efficiency of CVP(Cost-Volumn-Profit) are provided with marginal analysis.
New analysis methods complement classical approaches in the vehicle NVH development by reducing and accelerating iteration steps to obtain a target sound. Therefore, tools are required that allow an integrative approach of sound engineering and structural analysis and enable a precise simulation and modification based on measured data. The Response Modification Analysis (RMA) is such a hybrid solution, which provides indications of relevant transfer paths taking into account the sensitivity of response channels to modifications of reference channels.

This paper was concerned with the nonlinear analysis on the overall stability of H-type honeycombed composite column with rectangular concrete-filled steel tube flanges (STHCC). The nonlinear analysis was performed using ABAQUS, a commercially available finite element (FE) program. Nonlinear buckling analysis was carried out by inducing the first buckling mode shape of the hinged column to the model as the initial imperfection with imperfection amplitude value of L/1000 and importing the simplified constitutive model of steel and nonlinear constitutive model of concrete considering hoop effect. Close agreement was shown between the experimental results of 17 concrete-filled steel tube (CFST) specimens and 4 I-beams with top flanges of rectangular concrete-filled steel tube (CFSFB) specimens conducted by former researchers and the predicted results, verifying the correctness of the method of FE analysis. Then, the FE models of 30 STHCC columns were established to investigate the influences of the concrete strength grade, the nominal slenderness ratio, the hoop coefficient and the flange width on the nonlinear stability capacity of SHTCC column. It was found that the hoop coefficient and the nominal slenderness ratio affected the nonlinear stability capacity more significantly. Based on the results of parameter analysis, a formula was proposed to predict the nonlinear stability capacity of STHCC column which laid the foundation of the application of STHCC column in practical engineering.
For the prediction of the ventilation rate for removing the non-isothermal concentrated fume from the semi-enclosed space, the computational fluid dynamics (CFD) analysis was done. Securing the proper ventilation conditions in emergency state such as in fire is crucial factor for the protection of the resident in the space. In the analysis for the determining the proper ventilation rate, the experimental study had the limitation for simulating the versatile conditions of fume development. The theoretical and computational method had been chosen as the alternate tool for the experimental analysis. In this study, the CFD analysis was done on the defined model which already had been done the experimental analysis by the previous workers. By comparing the prediction on the plume heights and the ventilation rates by the CFD analysis at, and in the parametric model of $1m^3$ with those of the previous experimental works, the feasibility of the computational analysis was evaluated. For the required ventilation rate analyzed by the CFD analysis was over predicted in 7.1% difference with that of the experimental results depending on the different plume height. With the comparison with the analytical Zukoski model at, the CFD analysis on the ventilation was under predicted in 8.3%. By the verification of the feasibility of the CFD analysis, the extended analysis was done for getting the extra information such as the water vapor distribution and $CO^2$ distribution in the semi-enclosed spaces.
A numerical analysis algorithm for thermally loaded structures has been proposed and compared with the general free vibration approach to determine the characteristics of thermal load effects in vibration structures. The field of numerical inspection includes free vibration analysis, transient heat transfer analysis and thermal stress analysis. The key point of the analysis of thermally loaded structure is the method of parallel time integration between transient heat transfer and free vibration simultaneously. The results of the study demonstrate the computation of the specific total external force vector and stiffness matrix. The proposed analysis method can be applied to both heated and cooled structure vibration analysis.
Whereas the potential of static inelastic analysis methods is recognised in earthquake design and assessment, especially in contrast with elastic analysis under scaled forces, they have inherent shortcomings. In this paper, critical issues in the application of inelastic static (pushover) analysis are discussed and their effect on the obtained results appraised. Areas of possible developments that would render the method more applicable to the prediction of dynamic response are explored. New developments towards a fully adaptive pushover method accounting for spread of inelasticity, geometric nonlinearity, full multi-modal, spectral amplification and period elongation, within a framework of fibre modelling of materials, are discussed and preliminary results are given. These developments lead to static analysis results that are closer than ever to inelastic time-history analysis. It is concluded that there is great scope for improvements of this simple and powerful technique that would increase confidence in its employment as the primary tool for seismic analysis in practice.
