With the aim of achieving half the regulated value of EURO-3 Emission Regulations, an ultra low emission motorcycle has been developed based on a motorcycle with an 1800 $cm^3$, horizontal opposed 6-cylinder engine. For the fuel supply system, an electronically controlled fuel injection system was applied. For the emission purification system, three-way catalysts, a feedback control system with a LAF(Linear Air-Fuel ratio) sensor, and a secondary air induction system were applied. To reduce CO and HC emissions during cold starting, an early catalyst activation method combining RACV(Rotary Air Control Valve) and retarded ignition timing was applied. After the catalyst activation, air-fuel ratio was controlled to maximize the purification ratio of the catalyst according to vehicle speed. For the air-fuel ratio control system, the LAF sensor was used. Furthermore, fine adjustment by the LAF feedback control reduced torque fluctuation due to the air-fuel ratio change. As a result, smooth ride feeling was maintained. Owing to these technologies, half the regulated value of EURO-3 has been achieved without any negative impact to the large-scaled motorcycles' drivability. This paper presents the developed ultra low emission technologies including the control method using an LAF sensor.

For the pressurized propellant supply system of liquid rocket, feed pressure is determined with respect to the chamber pressure of normal combustion state. However, during ignition period the initial chamber pressure is atmosopheric. This may cause overflow, hard-start and even critical damage for the engine. This paper proposes an improved propellant feed system for the stable combustion of liquid rocket. The proposed system utilizes the cavitating venturi to provide stable mass flow rate. Cavitating venturi offers unique flow control capabilities at normal and abnormal combustion state, because flow rate is soley dependent on the upstream absolute pressure and fluid properties, but independent on th downstream condition. Experimental variables are propellant feed pressure and chamber pressure. The effectiveness of cavitating venturi increased when the ratio of actual feed pressure to the cavitating venturi design pressure is increased. It is also found that Kerosene if more effective to supply stable mass flow rate than LOx.

Since the liquid phase LPG injection(LPLI) system has an advantage of higher power and lower emission characteristics than the mixer type fuel supply system, many studies and applications have been conducted. However, the heat extraction, due to the evaporation of liquid fuel, causes not only a dropping of LPG fuel but also icing phenomenon that is a frost of moisture in the air around the nozzle tip. Because both lead to a difficulty in the control of accurate air fuel ratio, it can result in poor engine performance and a large amount of HC emissions. The experimental investigation was carried out on the bench test rig in this study. It was found that n-butane, that has a relatively high boiling point($-0.5^{\circ}C$), was a main species of droplet composition and also found that the droplet problem was improved by the use of a large inner to outer bore ratio nozzle whose surface roughness is smooth. The icing phenomena were decreased when the an engine head temperature was increased, although a large amount of icing deposit was still observed in the case of $87^{\circ}C$. Also, it was observed that the icing phenomenon is improved by using anti-icing bushing.
In this study, the use of a micro gas turbine system using biogas to supply heating, cooling and electricity loads of a rural building located in rural area around Tehran has been studied. Initially, the amount of energy needed by the farmhouse was calculated and then the number of needed microturbines was determined. Accordingly, the amount of substances entering biogas digester as well as tank volume were determined. The results of this study showed that village house loads including electrical, heating and cooling and hot water loads can be supplied by using a microturbine with a nominal power of 30 kW and $33.5m^3/day$ of biogas. Digester tank and reservoir tank volumes are $67m^3$ and $31.2m^3$, respectively. The cost of electricity produced by this system is 0.446 US$/kWh. For rural area in Iran, this system is not compatible with micro gas turbine and IC engine system use urban natural gas due to low price of natural gas in Iran, but it can be compatible by wind turbine, photovoltaic and hybrid system (wind turbine& photovoltaic) systems.

An object of this study is to understand the correlation between the characteristics of an engine performance and combustion characteristics, applying BD20 fuel reformed by ultrasonic energy irradiation to diesel engines. Before conducting the main experiment, an experiment was performed to determine the optimum injection timimg of reformed BD20 by ultrasonic energy irradiation. To control the duration of the ultrasonic energy irradiation, the capacity of an ultrasonic energy fuel supply system was tested with 550cc and 1100cc chambers. As the result of the analysis of the regular BD20 and reformed BD20 by ultrasonic energy irradiation, the BSFC and the Power of the reformed BD20 was improved 3% and 6%, respectively compared to those of non-irradiated BD20. When the fuel injection timing was delayed by $5^{\circ}$, the engine power was improved by 3%, and the BSFC was improved by 2%. The maximum cylinder pressure of reformed BD20 was improved by a maximum of 6% in comparison to that of regular BD20, and demonstrated a synergistic effect of 3% by delaying the injection timing $5^{\circ}$.

In recent years, the need for more fuel-efficient and lower-emission vehicles has driven the technical development of alternative fuels such as LPi (Liquid phase LPG injection) which uses pump for the high pressure supply of liquid LPG fuel and is able to meet the limits of better emission levels while it has an advantage of higher power. Although it has the advantage of power and lower emission levels, the characteristics of LPG, such as high vapor pressure, lower viscosity and surface tension than gasoline fuels makes it difficult design system. Therefore most fuel pumps and injectors are imported. In the present study, in order to domestically develop LPG injector which guarantees flow rates and optimal operation, the experimental investigation on leakage and flow rate characteristics of developed prototype injector was carried out at the bench test rig for developed injector.

In recent years, gas engines fueled with LNG or synthetic gas have been attracting considerable attention for marine use owing to their potential to facilitate better fuel economy and to reduce emissions. It has been confirmed that gas engines using the Otto cycle, which involves premixed combustion, can satisfy Tier III regulations without the EGR or SCR system. The objective of this study is to acquire simulation technologies for predicting gas engine performances in industrial fields. Using the commercial software BOOST, the simulation is conducted on a gasoline engine rather than a marine engine due to the gasoline engine's easier accessibility. This study consists of two stages. In the first stage published previously, the optimal modeling techniques for representing the behavior of the gas in the intake and exhaust systems were determined. In the current study, we formulated a method to evaluate the combustion and heat transfer processes in the cylinder and to ultimately determine the major performance parameters, given that the analytical model derived from the previous stage has been applied. Through this study, we were able to determine a combustion and heat transfer model and a valve discharge coefficient that are less reliant on empirical data: we were also able to formulate a methodology through which relevant constants are decided. We confirmed that the values of transient cylinder pressure variation, indicated mean effective pressure, and air supply can be successfully predicted using our modeling techniques.
In this paper, we have implemented the low temperature fluidity test system with the composited fuel filter and heater, which has tested the low temperature fluidity of gasoline, an engine start time, the consumption of electricity and power to evaluate the system performance. The test condition have used the diesel fuel, the normal temperature, the diesel fuel supply pressure $3.4kgf/cm^2$ at $-20{\sim}-30^{\circ}C$, the fuel supply quantization 60 l/H, the setting current 30 A and the voltage $13V_{dc}$. In order to simulate the operation of diesel fuel filter, we will establish the composited fuel filter into test jig, and be filled with chamber tank and filter by a constant flow quantization and pressure. After these, it shall be cold for setting time. And then we have measured the consumption current and power of heater, an operating time and pressure of filter.

Modern information technologies continue to provide industries with new and improved methods. With the rapid development of Machine to Machine (M2M) communication, a smart container supply chain management is formed based on high performance sensors, computer vision, Global Positioning System (GPS) satellites, and Globle System for Mobile (GSM) communication. Existing supply chain management has limitation to real time container tracking. This paper focuses on the studies and implementation of real time container chain management with the development of the container identification system and automatic alert system for interrupts and for normal periodical alerts. The concept and methods of smart container modeling are introduced together with the structure explained prior to the implementation of smart container tracking alert system. Firstly, the paper introduces the container code identification and recognition algorithm implemented in visual studio 2010 with Opencv (computer vision library) and Tesseract (OCR engine) for real time operation. Secondly it discusses the current automatic alert system provided for real time container tracking and the limitations of those systems. Finally the paper summarizes the challenges and the possibilities for the future work for real time container tracking solutions with the ubiquitous mobile and satellite network together with the high performance sensors and computer vision. All of those components combine to provide an excellent delivery of supply chain management with outstanding operation and security.
