Recently, sea algae cultivation as carbon sink and carbon dioxide fixation have been considered. Also, various researches on bioenergy derived from sea algae and the utilization of fibers, saccharide, and lipid of sea algae have been performing. Till now, algae fibers has been used for manufacturing of paper and reinforcing of polymer composites and the extracts of sea algae are used for cosmetics, pharmaceutical materials and food such as agar. Especially, algae fiber has so similar properties to cellulose in terms of crystallinity and functional groups that it can be utilized as reinforcements of biocomposites. Biocomposites as alternatives of glass fiber reinforced polymer composites are environmentally friendly polymer composites reinforced with natural fibers and are actively applying to the automobiles and construction industries. In this paper, characteristics of algae fiber and biocomposites reinforced with algae fiber as environmentally friendly energy materials have been introduced.

Recently, solar energy generation is one of the fastest growing industries for eco-friendly energy. Every year, solar energy generation industry grows to 42% on average. However, polysilicon sludge is generated from processing of polysilicon but, there is nothing to handle that. Therefore, we need research to recycle polysilicon sludge. Also, improved fire resistance efficiency of wall is required according to reinforced fire safety standards due to many cases of big fires in our country. This study focuses on density and strength properties according to the addition ratio of paper Ash for the lightweight composite panel core with polysilicon sludge. As a result of the test, adding paper ash 9% has the best density and strength properties.
This paper presents experimental and numerical studies into the structural behavior of a high performance corbel type composite connection adopted in Raffles City of Hangzhou, China. Physical tests under both monotonic and quasi-static cyclic loads were conducted to investigate the load carrying capacities and deformation characteristics of this new type of composite connection. A variety of structural responses are examined in detail, including load-deformation characteristics, the development of sectional direct and shear strains, and the history of cumulative plastic deformation and energy. A three-dimensional finite element model built up with solid elements was also proposed for the verification against test results. The studies demonstrate the high rigidity, strength and rotation capacities of the corbel type composite connections, and give detailed structural understanding for engineering design and practice. Structural engineers are encouraged to adopt the proposed corbel type composite connections in mega high-rise buildings to achieve an economical and buildable and architectural friendly engineering solution.

A new shape-stable composite phase change material (PCM) have been produced via an easy and simple vacuum impregnation method. The composite PCM have been derived from almond shell biochar (ASB) as supporting material and capric acid (CA) as phase change material. Cost effective waste almond shells (AS) are renewable, eco-friendly, and rich in pores which enhance the possibility of CA impregnation. Therefore, in this study, three different ratios of CA (1:1, 1:2 and 1:3) have been incorporated in ASB to produce shape-stabilized phase change composites (ASCAs). Different techniques such as scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Fourier transform-infrared spectroscope (FT-IR), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) have been applied to evaluate the characteristics of ASCAs. The attained composite PCMs have exhibited shape stability with high latent heat storage, that makes it suitable for thermal energy storage applications.

Due to the higher use of nonrenewable fossil fuel energy, environment friendly sustainable energy from waste materials is attracting attention of the researchers. Considering that, jute stick (JS) biochar has been considered for this study for ecofriendly and sustainable thermal energy storage application. Waste jute sticks (JS), which are being mainly used as a fuel for cooking purpose, have been pyrolyzed to produce porous biochar and have been used for shape stabilization of stearic acid (SA) as phase change material (PCM). SA at 1:1 ratio has been incorporated into the activated JS biochar to concoct shape-stabilized phase change composite (SAJS). The SAJS has been evaluated by different techniques such as Fourier transform-infrared spectroscope (FT-IR), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). The obtained composite PCM has shown excellent shape stability with a high latent heat storage, suggesting its suitability for thermal energy storage applications.
In this study, a polymer-carbon composite material is prepared for environmental-friendly organic anode. On poly(styrenesulfonate)(PSS)-carbon composite anode, the carbon is coated by PSS as a core-shell structure and the PSS-carbon composite anode has $524mAh\;g^{-1}$ theoretical capacity with <0.6V voltage. Moreover, the PSS-carbon composite anode shows $519.6mAh\;g^{-1}$, $461.2mAh\;g^{-1}$, $411.8mAh\;g^{-1}$ and $315.9mAh\;g^{-1}$ discharge capacities at 0.1, 0.5, 1 and 10 C, respectively, and stable cycle performance up to 30 cycles. The PSS-carbon composite anode, containing polystyrene and sulfonate functional groups, is suitable for high electrochemical properties organic rechargeable battery.

The fuel cell is one of promising environment-friendly energy sources for the next generation. The bipolar plate is a major component of the PEM fuel cell stack, which takes a large portion of stack cost. In this study, as alternative materials for bipolar plate of PEM fuel cells, graphite composites were fabricated by compression molding. Graphite particles mixed with epoxy resin were used as the main substance to provide electric conductivity To achieve desired electrical properties, specimens made with different mixing ratio, processing pressure and temperature were tested. To increase mechanical strength, one or two layers of woven carbon fabric were added to the graphite and resin composite. Thus, the composite material was consisted of three phases: graphite particles, carbon fabric, and epoxy resin. By increasing mixing ratio of graphite, fabricated pressure and process temperature, the electric conductivity of the composite was improved. The results of tensile test showed that the tensile strength of the two-phase graphite composite was about 4MPa, and that of three-phase composite was increased to 57MPa. As surface properties, contact an91e and surface roughness were tested. Graphite composites showed contact angles higher than $90^{\circ}$, which mean low surface energy. The average surface roughness of the composite specimens was $0.96{\mu}m$.

Thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) is a material whose mechanical properties change according to the phase separation of its unique internal microstructure and is therefore used in various industries. Use of TPU as composites helps in improving the desirable characteristics and properties in accordance with usage. Eco-friendly fillers one of the fillers are on the rise and those are mostly used for reinforcing role. Suberin, which can be extracted from cork, is the main component of cork. It is known to serve high damping property of elastomer composite. The original chemical structure of Suberin is an aliphatic polyester aggregate. In this research, Suberin is obtained after depolymerization into an oligomer having 2 or 3 ester bonds through alkaline hydrolysis. The extracted suberin was added to the matrix which is thermoplastic polyurethane as an eco-friendly filler for improving vibration damping property. As a result, when 10 wt% of suberin was added into thermoplastic polyurethane the existing trade-off relationship was overcome. And it is attained the elastic modulus and damping factor at room temperature improving 92 and 59%, respectively, compared to the original matrix. Those results are from the interaction between the microstructure of TPU and suberin.
Recently the research for lightening the railway vehicle is actively made according to the demand of the environment-friendly technology development contributing to the energy cost reduction and the green growth. The railway vehicle lightweight research is expanded to the load-supporting first structure from the secondary structure which doesn't support the load. After the composite car body development used in the Korean tilting train is completed, the composite bogie frame development in which the weight reduction efficiency is large is progressed. In this paper, distributed strain was monitored when the train load was added to the central part of the composite bogie side-frame. By using the optical fiber which was attached to the lower part of the side-frame and the developed Brillouin correlation domain analysis (BOCDA) system, the strain distribution could be measured with 3cm step over 3m section. This strain distribution was compared with the design value by the FE analysis when the load of 14ton and 18ton added. This experiment can verify the manufactured composite bogie side-frame.
