  • This study has analyzed the scale, location, resource potential and feasibility of offshore wind farm scientifically and systematically based on the national wind map and GIS. For long-term wind power development, this study pursues siting strategy building, selection of target area and deciding development priority as well as the presenting a basis for assessment that are necessary for policy decision making by making theme layers under GIS environment. According to the analysis after organizing technological development by stages, even if only the most suitable sites are developed among the area of offshore wind farm candidates that can be developed under the current technological standard, it has been evaluated as being able to develop about 3 times of the wind power dissemination target until 2012. It is expected that about 5% of territorial water area can be developed in a short-term future while the southern offshore area possessing relatively favorable wind resource than the western offshore has been identified as the most feasible site. While about 23% of territorial water area has been classified as potential area for offshore wind farm development in a long-term future, even Jeju Island and offshore of Ulsan possessing excellent wind resource have been analyzed as feasible sites. The feasibility assessment of offshore wind lam development established by this study is expected to assist national strategy building for accomplishing the wind power dissemination target.

  • Commercial wind farm design tools and the national wind map are used to determine the implementation potential of offshore wind power in Korea in this study. For this, the territorial waters of Korea were divided into nine analysis regions and a commercial CFD code was used to obtain wind resource maps at 100m A.S.L. which is the hub height of a 5MW wind turbine used in this study. With the wind resource obtained, factors including water depth, distance from substations, minimum and maximum capacity of a wind farm, distance between turbines and wind farms were considered to determine wind power potential. Also, the conservation areas, military zones, ports, fishing grounds, etc. were considered and excluded. As the result, a total capacity of 6,720 MW was found to be the implementation potential and this corresponds to $3.38MW/km^2$ in API. Also if the distance from the substation is not considered, the potential increased to be 10,040 MW. This offshore wind farm potential is considered enough to satisfy the target of wind farm capacities in the 7th national plan for electricity demand and supply.

  • In order to apply the silver cementation method using Fe powder from pregnant thiourea leaching solution. Parameters such as the amount of Fe powder addition, agitation speed, and temperature were investigated. The silver cementation rate was increased by the increasing of Fe powder addition, agitation speed, and temperature. The highest silver cementation rate was found when the addition of Fe powder was 50 g/L at the agitation speed of 500 rpm. The silver cementation rate increase with increasing temperature according to the Arrhenius equation and obeys $1^{st}$ order kinetics. The activation energy from the kinetics data was found to be between 13.73 KJ/mol and 17.02 KJ/mol. In the XRD analysis, goethite was detected in the precipitate of the thiourea leach solution. This indicates that an oxidation-reduction reaction had occurred in the thiourea solution due to the addition of the Fe powder.

  • Environmental pollution caused by fossil fuel use and energy sources, the big concern is the rise of the current situation, one of the ways to overcome the interest in renewable energy is Gozo. Located on the west coast, especially the Saemangeum area and the northwest wind, the big advantage of the vast area that's got quite a number of wind turbines is expected. This study affirms that these expectations can be a wind energy resource survey sea area of the average wind speed of Kunsan 5 ~ 7m / s is enough, books are linked to the local marine wind farms can safely say that none of choejeokji said. In addition, the emergence of the wind resource to determine the density of the Weibull distribution is calculated using the number 1, the shape factor as a parameter to calculate the density of the wind a result, Gunsan Province was able to predict the emergence of the wind. In addition, by controlling the remote monitoring through the measurement exceeded the convenience and reliability at the same time you can achieve great results.

  • Recently, to satisfy mobile users' increasing data transmission requirement, energy efficiency (EE) resource allocation in distributed antenna systems (DASs) has become a hot topic. In this paper, we aim to maximize EE in DASs subject to constraints of the minimum data rate requirement and the maximum transmission power of distributed antenna units (DAUs) with different density distributions. Virtual cell is defined as DAUs selected by the same user equipment (UE) and the size of virtual cells is dependent on the number of subcarriers and the transmission power. Specifically, the selection rule of DAUs is depended on different scenarios. We develop two scenarios based on the density of DAUs, namely, the sparse scenario and the dense scenario. In the sparse scenario, each DAU can only be selected by one UE to avoid co-channel interference. In order to make the original non-convex optimization problem tractable, we transform it into an equivalent fractional programming and solve by the following two sub-problems: optimal subcarrier allocation to find suitable DAUs; optimal power allocation for each subcarrier. Moreover, in the dense scenario, we consider UEs could access the same channel and generate co-channel interference. The optimization problem could be transformed into a convex form based on interference upper bound and fractional programming. In addition, an energy-efficient DAU selection scheme based on the large scale fading is developed to maximize EE. Finally, simulation results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm for both sparse and dense scenarios.

  • It is necessary to study the need for introduction of nuclear energy tax in Korea to internalize the externality cost of nuclear power and to make more balanced taxation system considering LNG and coal power. This study adopts choice experiment method to estimate the willingness to pay (WTP) for possible new tax on nuclear power. The finding is that the tax on nuclear fuel is more preferable to other tax base with KRW2.19/kWh of WTP, compared to KRW1.46/kWh for nuclear waste. The WTP for using the tax revenue to facilitate economic activity is KRW6.39/kWh compared to KRW6.12/kWh of WTP for funding climate change investment. The finding suggests that the design of nuclear power taxation needs to focus more on the use of tax revenue than on the choice of tax base.

  • In order to support wind power development in Jejudo, the island of winds, the wind resource database KIER-WindJeju has been established by meteor-statistical analysis on met-mast measurements of KIER. The analysis includes tower shading, exposure category, wind profile exponent for wind speed extrapolation to hub height of wind turbine, and correlation matrix between neighboring sites to assist choice of appropriate reference site for long-term correlation. KIER-WindJeju will be provided as an add-on of Google $Earth^{TM}$ and will be used as a guideline of future wind resource assessment in Jejudo.

  • In many countries, methods to evaluate buildings have been investigated and practiced in order to reduce energy use and search for sustainable architecture while providing comfortable space for the users, in Korea, the current certification system has a short history, and has been improved for better practicability. Among many different factors in the certification system, the water resource problem is an important as the demand has been sharply increasing while reckless use and sewage treatment system causes the reduction of usable water. This study aims to find problems of water usage in building. water resource in the current certification will be used for the analysis of each factor in water resource, and the direction of improvement required in the certification in order to improve the water usage in buildigns will be proposed.
