A cement industrial by-product was used as a Ca source for the carbonation process. It was confirmed that the most of cement industrial by-products was composed of CaO and KCl through ICP and XRD analyses. The optimal extractant type and concentration was 1.5 M of hydrochloric acid, and the solid/liquid ratio was 0.1 g/mL. It was assumed that the cation extraction efficiency was dependent of the pair ions and their binding formation and also the solubility from extraction efficiency results by varing extractants. After extraction process, it was also confirmed that the cation could be selectively separated from the solution with respect to the kind of additives and the injection order. When NaOH was injected into the solution to control pH values ranging from 9.5 and 13, impurities and $Ca(OH)_2$ were precipitated, whereas the separated K ion was precipitated in the form of KCl under the injected $C_2H_5OH$.

A multisample extraction device was newly designed for efficient extraction of dissolved lipophillic organic compounds from sea water sample. This device allowed extraction of organic compounds from up to 96 sample at a time using 96 multifolder on the principle of solid phase extraction with commercially available octadecyl silane (ODS) cartridges. The recovery yield of the new divice was higher than 90 % while that of conventional liquid-liquid extraction process are only 60 - 70 %. The amount of solvent required for the new device could be reduced to less than 20㎖ per 1ℓ of sample while 1 - 2 ℓ of solvent were used in the conventional liquid-liquid extraction process. The usefulness of this novel method was demonstrated with sea water samples collected from Yellow sea, and the qualitative and quantitative analyses results of the dissolved hydrocarbon showed this method was superior to that of conventional liquid-liquid extraction process in efficiency and reliability.
To determine the contents of $^{99}Tc$ in the spent PWR (pressurized water reactor) nuclear fuels by ICP-MS (inductively coupled plasma-mass spectrometry), a technetium separation method using an extraction chromatographic resin (TEVA Spec resin) has been established. $^{99}Tc$ was separated from a spent PWR nuclear fuel solution by this separation procedure and its concentration was determined by ICP-MS. The result agrees well with the value calculated by the program ORIGEN 2 and also the value measured by AG MP-1 resin/ICP-MS method described in our previous paper. It can be concluded that the present separation procedure is superior to the AG MP-1 resin procedure with respect to the time required for technetium separation as well as the efficiency of decontamination from other radioactive nuclides.

Energy performance of electric heater and geothermal source heat pump type hot air dryers are compared in this study. For set temperatures of $30^{\circ}C$, $35^{\circ}C$ and $40^{\circ}C$, radish is dried from initial mass 60 kg until it gets 5 kg, where the difference equals the amount of water removed. As set temperature is increased, drying time is shortened for both electric heater and heat pump types, however energy efficiency is decreased due to increasing electricity consumption. Moisture extraction rate(MER) of electric heater is 2.58~2.84 kg/h, and for heat pump type 2.56~2.71 kg/h, showing little difference between the two types. Specific moisture extraction rate (SMER) of electric heater is 0.94~0.96 kg/kWh, and for heat pump type 1.72~2.21 kg/kWh. SMER of heat pump type is greater by 0.78~1.25 kg/kWh than the electric heater hot air dryer, which is 1.8~2.3 times better in terms of energy efficiency.
Extraction of valuable light hydrocarbon from atmospheric residue using pentane as a solvent has been carried out. The SIMDIS was used to calculate the true boiling point of atmospheric residue containing complex components before the modeling of the extraction process could by performed. In order to simplify the procedure, modeling was adopted and a lumping method was used, such that a large number of compounds were divided into similar component classes called pseudocomponents. The modeling of the extraction process of the atmospheric residue-pentane system was based on the isothermal flash calculation, and the Peng-Robinson equation of state was used to calculate the fugacity coefficient of vapor and liquid phase during calculation steps of modeling. The agreement between the experiments and the calculations was reasonable considering the uncertainties involved in modeling such complex processes.

In this study, oil as a source of biodiesel from Nannochloropsis oceanica was extracted using organic solvent. The oil extraction yield and efficiency from dry and wet microalgae were investigated. The initial fatty acids content of the N. oceanica was 317.8 mg/g cell showing a high oil content over 30%. The yield from dry microalgae was higher than that from wet microalgae due to the inhibition of water. The yield by chloroform-methanol was the highest and the yield by hexane was the lowest. However, the total fatty acids contents with the chloroform-methanol were 678.7 and 778.2 mg/g oil under dry and wet conditions, respectively. The high oil extraction yield by chloroform-methanol reflected the fact that the extracted oil contained a high level of impurity. The hexane-methanol extraction from dry N. oceanica showed high oil extraction efficiency, 82.6%. The chloroform-methanol extraction under wet condition also showed high efficiency, 88.0%. While the hexane-methanol extraction from dry microalgae is desirable under low drying cost, the chloroform-methanol extraction from wet microalgae is desirable under high drying cost.
The purpose of this study is to resource calcium ions contained in most industrial by-products, and confirm the characteristics of calcium ions by extraction and separation conditions. Calcium oxide was used as a calcium extraction source, and hydrochloric acid as an extraction solvent, and the extraction amount according to the concentration of the extraction solvent and the pH dependent characteristics of the extract were analyzed. As the extractant concentration increased, the extracted amount increased while the pH for the extraction was kept constant. In order to separate extracted calcium ions, an acid-basic solution was injected and the formation of precipitates and also the form of precipitates were analyzed. When the sulfuric acid and sodium hydroxide solution of acid and basic substances were injected into the calcium extract, precipitates were formed and separated into CaSO4 and Ca(OH)2 forms.
The extraction of $Al_2O_3$ from the backed mixture of grinded aluminium silicates with $H_2SO_4$ and required heating energy for the baking process has been investigated. The extraction ration of $Al_2O_3$ from baked kaolin and alunite being mixed with 70-80% $H_2SO_4$ at 12$0^{\circ}C$ for 3 hours was more than 90%, the yield was based on alumina component in the ore by extracted with water. The required heating energy was 1782 cal/300gr (Alunite), that is, when alunite ore treated with equivalent amount of 80% $H_2SO_4$, also left it for 75 minites at 12$0^{\circ}C$, The required heating energy was 22, 553 cal/200gr(Alunite) when the above sample was heated again at 15$0^{\circ}C$ for 2 hours.
