Neutron Cross Section Evaluation on Mo-95, Tc-99, Ru-101 and Rh-1()3 in the Fast Energy Region

  • The neutron induced nuclear data for Mo-95, Tc-99, Ru-101 and Rh-103 was calculated and evaluated in the fast energy region. The energy dependent optical model potential parameters were extracted based on the recent experimental data and applied up to 20 MeV. The s-wave strength function was calculated from the parameters. Spherical optical model, statistical model in equilibrium energy, multistep direct and multistep compound model in pre-equilibrium energy and direct capture model were used in the calculation. The theoretically calculated cross sections were compared with the experimental data and the evaluated files The model- calculated total and capture cross sections were in good agreement with the reference experimental data. The direct capture contribution improved the capture cross sections in pre- equilibrium region. The evaluated cross section results were compiled to ENDF-6 format and will improve the ENDF/B-Vl.

  • The current status of the computational methods and computer codes for the analysis of reactor kinetics is reviewed. Computational methods which have been developed for space-dependent transient analyses are presented and recent progress in the development of methods is discussed.

해수열원 스크류 히트펌프의 연간 난방운전 성능 모사 (A Simulation Study on the Annual Heating Performance of the Seawater-Source Screw Heat Pump)

  • In this study, in order to utilize the seawater as a heat source at Gangneung city near the East Sea in Korea, an annual heating performance of a screw heat pump was simulated. For a simulation, the maximum heating capacity of heat pump was assumed at 3.5 MW. An ambient temperature at Gangneung city was calculated from the TMY2 weather data, while the seawater temperature was calculated from the regression equation based on the measurement by the National Fisheries Research and Development Institute of Korea. The heating load was assumed linearly dependent on the ambient temperature, while the maximum heating load was assumed to appear when the ambient temperature is below $-2.4^{\circ}C$, which is the temperature of TAC 2.5% for heating at Gangneung city. A heat pump performance at full-load was calculated from the regression equation, which involves refrigerant's evaporating and condensing temperatures, based on a commercial screw compressor performance map. A heating supply temperature which determines refrigerant's condensing temperature was assumed linearly dependent on the heating load. A performance degradation due to the part-load operation of heat pump was also considered. Simulation results show that an annual heating coefficient of performance ($COP_H$) of a seawater-source screw heat pump is approximately 2.8 and that it is necessary to improve part-load performance to increase an annual performance of the heat pump.

Anti-inflammatory Activity of an Ethanol Extract of Caesalpinia sappan L. in LPS-induced RAW 264.7 Cells

  • The anti-inflammatory activities of an ethanol extract of Caesalpinia sappan L. (CS) were investigated in LPS-induced RAW 264.7 cells. Result indicated that CS inhibited the LPS-induced NO production in a dose-dependent manner with an $IC_{50}$ of $10.9\;{\mu}g/mL$. In addition, CS attenuated the iNOS mRNA and protein expression by inhibiting NF-${\kappa}B$ activation. CS also suppressed the productions of IL-6 and MCP-1 in a dose-dependent manner, with $IC_{50}$ values of $15.9\;{\mu}g/mL$ and $5.47\;{\mu}g/mL$, respectively. In addition to the anti-inflammatory activities, CS decreased intracellular ROS formation in the same cells. In conclusion, CS inhibited the production of NO, IL-6 and MCP-1 via a suppression of the NF-${\kappa}B$ activation and intracellular ROS generation.

농작물의 삼중수소 오염평가 모델 개발 및 실험검증 (Evaluation Model and Experimental Validation of Tritium in Agricultural Plant)

  • 본 논문에서 사고로 누출된 삼중수소에 의한 농작물 오염평가 모델을 제시한다. 본 논문에서 제시된 모델은 동적격실모델로써 작물의 성장 방정식을 도입한 것이 특징이며, 이로부터 삼중수소 피폭시 작물의 성장단계에 따른 오염 정도를 예측할 수 있다. 시스템은 크게 대기, 토양, 작물격실로 구성되며, 격실의 삼중수소 농도 변화는 비선형 상미분방정식으로 표현되므로 시간에 따른 각 격실의 삼중수소 농도가 계산된다. 모델의 검증을 위해 배추 및 무에 대한 삼중수소 피폭 실험을 수행하였다. 생육단계별 오염 효과를 조사하기 위해 각기 다른 생육단계에 있는 배추와 무를 독립적으로 HTO 증기에 노출시켰으며, 피폭 후 오염된 작물의 tissue free water tritium(TFWT) 및 organically bound tritium(OBT) 농도를 측정하였다. 측정된 작물 부위별 삼중수소 농도 데이터와 모델 예측 값은 대체로 잘 일치하였다.

화학적 특성검지에 의한 지방산 고함유 농산물의 저장기간에 따른 전자선 조사 여부 검지 (Determination of Electron Beam-Irradiation by the Chemical Detection Methods According to Storage Period in Fat-riched Agricultural Products)

  • The purpose of this research is to detect whether agricultural products were electron beam irradiated or non-irradiated by chemical methods according to increase of storage period. The three fat-rich samples including soybean, walnut, and sesame were chosen as agricultural products, and then were irradiated with doses of 1~10 kGy by using 10 MeV electron beam facility. At the result, 8-heptadecene and 1,7-hexadecadiene, which are indicators of electron beam-irradiation in chemical methods by gas chromatography/mass spectrometry(GC/MS) method, were detected in all three samples. The levels of two irradiation indicators were increased by electron beam-irradiation in a dose-dependent manner. Furthermore, two irradiation indicators also were detected in all samples in 6 and 12 months after irradiation, though levels of those were decreased in a time-dependent manner. These results mean that the quantification of 8-heptadecene and 1,7-hexadecadiene could determine whether electron beam were irradiated or non-irradiated until 12 month after irradiation in 3 fat-rich agricultural products including soybean, walnut, and sesame.

감마선에 의한 산화적 스트레스에 돌연변이 약용들깨 열수추출물의 방호 효능 (Protective Effect of Perilla frutescens cv. Chookyoupjaso Mutant Water Extract on Gamma Ray-induced Oxidative Stress in Mice)

  • The purpose of this study was to evaluate the protective effect of the Perilla frutescens cv. Chookyoupjaso mutant water extract (PFWE) on gamma ray-induced oxidative stress in mice. Gamma-ray is one of the sources for inducing oxidative stress. The study was divided into 6 groups with 6 mice for each treatment. Groups I and II were treated with saline (vehicle) only, groups III, IV, V, and VI were pretreated with PFWE 10, 20, 50, $50mg\;kg^{-1}$ respectively for 2 weeks before gamma radiation. And then groups II, III, IV, V were irradiated. We found that the activities of aspartate transaminase (AST) and alanine transaminase (ALT) were increased and the activities of antioxidant enzymes such as superoxide dismutase (SOD), catalase (CAT), glutathione peroxidase (GPx), and glutathione reductase (GR) were decreased by irradiation in mice. However, treatment of PFWE attenuated the activities of AST and ALT in a dose-dependent manner in irradiated mice. Furthermore, treatment of PFWE significantly increased the activities of SOD, GPx, and GR in a dose-dependent manner in irradiated mice, except for the CAT. Interestingly, the activities of GPx and GR were significantly increased by PFWE treatment. Taken together, PFWE could be effective in protecting on gamma ray-induced oxidative stress in mice.

가속노화 시험을 통한 진공단열패널(VIP)의 장기성능 평가 연구 (The Study of Long-Term Performance Evaluation of Vacuum Insulation Panel(VIP) with Accelerated Aging Test)

  • Energy efficiency solutions are being pursued as a sustainable approach to reducing energy consumption and related gas emissions across various sectors of the economy. Vacuum Insulation Panel (VIP) is an energy efficient advanced insulation system that facilitates slim but high-performance insulation, based on a porous core material evacuated and encapsulated in a barrier envelope. Although VIP has been applied in buildings for over a decade, it wasn't until recently that efforts have been initiated to propose and adopt a global standard on characterization and testing of VIP. One of the issues regarding VIP is its durability and aging due to pressure and moisture dependent increase of the initial low thermal conductivity with time; more so in building applications. In this paper, the aging of commercially available VIP was investigated experimentally; thermal conductivity was tested in accordance with ISO 8302 standard (guarded hot box method) and long-term durability was estimated based on a non-linear pressure-humidity dependent equation based on study of IEA/ECBCS Annex 39, with the aim of assessing durability of VIP for use in buildings. The center-of-panel thermal conductivity after 25 years based on initial 90% fractile with a confidence level of 90 % for the thermal conductivity (${\lambda}90/90$) ranged from 0.00726-0.00814 (W/m K) for silica core VIP. Significant differences between manufacturer-provided data and measurements of thermal conductivity and internal pressure were observed.
